  1. stalling out...bad choice to try to thread the needle
  2. agreed...but thats on meager floating one out there...put that on a line and stick has a nice gain
  3. I want Vizza on the field as much if not more than anyone...but Meager has been playing well...a few underthrown balls...but no telling Vizza puts them any better...this game has turned b/c our defense is playing terrible
  4. ohhh if meager lead jackson....we have 6 more
  5. That guy would be Craig Swann...hands down the worst colour commentator ever...listening to him makes me think I'm listening to a 2-A high school game
  6. Most SMU fans think 1982 was last season...every season...for the past 25 years That is pure greatness...have her accessorize the PSU jersey with a Kelly Green undershirt and maybe an eagle face painted on her cheek and I think you're set.
  7. Nova, Louisville, BYU, Virginia and UNT on the road...thats pretty tough. I live really close to Quinnipiac so I will be there Nov. 11th to do some scouting.
  8. Two reasons we aren't in nickel... 1. I'm not sure what point in the game these photos were taken but I don't think anyone expected OU to throw as much as they did. 2. The linebackers are the "strength" of our defense...who would we be running out as a nickel back? An extra corner in Bush or Roman that DeMarco Murray would just run over or an extra safety in Cotton who you're matching up with a wide out who can burn him anyway? In this play it seems the thought was Mo-Ho and B-Mo could cover Murray and Finley. That said...you can't just play a cover 1 man all game...whether you're playing OU, SMU or Colleyville Heritage.
  9. I just checked the Hartford site (hoping UNT got it wrong...they didn't) but they have a kid from Fort Worth...David Bookman, a 6'7" forward who went to Southwest H.S...could be a large Hartford contingent in attendance.
  10. I've got a little bit of what you might call a drinking problem.
  11. What a tease!!!! I damn near jumped out of my seat when I saw Hartford on the schedule until I realized it was a home game!!! Does anyone have any information on that game as to whether or not its a home and home (or possibly a typo and its actually a road game )? It'd be nice to be able to see a game.
  12. Tap the breaks a bit on the negativity. OK State lost quite a bit...and they still have Byron Eaton jacking up atleast 20 shots a game...especially with no Mario Boggan or JamesOn Curry.
  13. Well...would you consider TSU and NMST rivals? NMST was when they were in the SBC and there were some classic games between us but when will we see them again? When will we get the chance to re-live the miracle in the desert (or live it this time...still mad I missed that one.)? And certainly not TSU any more...though I would love them to move up and join the Belt. After this year when will we see SMU again...and before last year when was the last time we played them? A rival to me is an opponent you deal with and see atleast yearly in most sports and your hatred grows with each passing game. I think the closest we have now is MTSU but theyre 1000 miles away. I was simply curious to understand the angst that so many people on here hold toward SMU...I've never really felt it and so I decided to share a story in hopes of getting other stories as to why people consider SMU a rival. It has nothing to do with class envy or a feeling of inferiority.
  14. So...I have been very adamant that SMU is not our rival and our insistance upon making them so is a bit embarrassing. While I still believe this to be true, reading Ponyfans and having to watch that ridiculous "Pony Up" music video...I have felt a growing distain for the financial institute of Dallas...and it brought back a painful memory that I had repressed deep in my mind...and I'm curious if anyone else has similar specific stories for their abhorring of the Phonies. March 2005 - Quarterfinals of the ACIS Regional Intramural Basketball Tourney held at TCU...my intramural basketball team has made it to the round of 8 out of 40 some odd teams (another UNT team finished second this year) from all over Texas and the Southwest...our quarterfinal game is against a team from SMU and it is one hell of a basketball game. We lead by 1 with about 10 seconds to play, SMU ball...the SMU player makes his drive on the left hand side and with exactly 5.5 seconds remaining in the game (etched painfully in my mind) I hear a whistle...and an official named Jamaica (white girl...not sure how the parents ever arrived at that name) calls our defender for a hand check. Now, I used to have a bit of a temper and a sarcastic tongue with officials in my younger days...and I was rendered speechless. 1 and 1. SMU player knocks down both free throws...a last ditch effort on our part falls short. I would love a neighbor rival...I still don't think SMU is it...but that doesn't mean I cant hate the Phonies. Pony, Up Yours!
  15. Considering our first week...it isn't surprising we would get that sort of disrespect...but to lump Arkansas State in after they hung with UT all game is a bit cocky. That said...we atleast found the end zone...and Tech isn't exactly a defensive juggernaut. So yeah...F -U SMU...and for that matter C-USA too!
  16. Would a capable body please pin this until after the SMU game for easy reference...thank you!
  17. Tre Newton or Blake Cantu. From this years team I'd probably go with Colt Mahan or Giovanni Vizza.
  18. BINGO...and that frusterates me about Papa Todd. Seen it for two years...something about a leopard and spots...I can't take two more years of panic I'm sorry...were you watching the same game? Meager played scared...plain and simple. If you want to make a "considering OU" excuse...make it for the Offensive Line, I thought they played well, considering they played OU...and considering Danny Meager was not quick with the ball and rolled out 17 different times instead of staying in the pocket and making a throw...like Gio did and for the majority of the time, against first team OU defense (take a look at who Casey Fitzgerald beat on the touchdown...DJ Wolfe...thats first team.) Gio wasn't perfect...but he made confident throws, he ran with authority, and he hung in the pocket. As I told Green Lantern during the game...I wouldn't have cared if Giovanni came in and played the exact same way as Danny Meager...I would've been happy because it would've been a different name and a different number...I've seen too much of a Meager led offense. Gio is both our future at QB...and the player who gives us the best chance to beat SMU...there is no feasible logic that I can think of that should make Papa Todd start Daniel Meager again.
  19. Perhaps its the shots of espresso I just drank...but we're a solid 12 hours from kick off and I am tingling with excitment. To those of you in Norman...there are few things I wouldn't give to switch places with you...make us proud (that means no BSU shirts please), wear your green all day: early morning tailgating, at the game, at the bar after the game, maybe even in bed with the waitress from Brother's that you brought back to your buddies place...um...I'm guessing. Lets go Mean Green...I'm prouder than ever to say that today as we embark on a new and exciting era of UNT football...and I will be saying that loud and proud in some New Haven, Connecticut bar later tonight while I watch the game on probably their worst TV in the corner nearest the bathroom while people ask me who North Texas is and if we're a D-1 program. You're G-D'd right we're D-1...and once we beat OU you're going to know ALOT more about UNT.
  20. I personally love the updates...but I obsess over basketball more than most. In Cooley's defense...aside from Bobo being the son(?, nephew?) of a former UNT ballplayer...IMO these are the type of kids we SHOULD be going after...ask Papa Todd if he thinks any DFW kid is beyond his reach and I promise you the answer is no. I think JJ has done a great job this year...Dez, Tristan, Adam, George and Josh (I'll reserve my opinion on the Hodges signing until I see him play) but there is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much basketball talent in the DFW area that JJ rarely seems to target...let alone get interested in our program...atleast as freshmen. We lost a legit PF from Arlington this year to FAU (Brett Royster)...in the past: the Langford brothers out of North Crowley...the Bryan Hopkins (brother of Leonard) to F'ING SMU...Acie Law IV to a very bad A&M program...these are all local products who we should've been very highly competative in their recruiting. Now there's Morgan and Nolan Dennis...two players with UNT ties and yet the concensus seems to be they're out of our reach...and that frusterates the hell out of me. It only takes one or two of these kids to get our program to a Butler, Gonzaga or Wichita St. level. Its all about attitude.
  21. OHHHH...that is greatness. i've been trying to work in schtick into my conversations with co-workers up here...but to no avail.
  22. Seriously? Man...this is two in the past week...until the newcomers interviews I had no idea Breece Johnson was white either.
