  1. I will be going to the Black Bear at the corner of Temple and College streets in New Haven if anyone is interested in watching the game with me and the legions of northeast UNT fans.
  2. On his honeymoon with Joan London if ya got big boobs lemmie hear from ya
  3. I like how our football program just got compared to LSU. Ha
  4. Rhyner's dead...you wanna hear how he died?
  5. Let me make a miniture Plumm-like post: Does this signing have anything to do with the new tennis complex?
  6. I'd be in in a heartbeat too...but I may miss the game as I search for Kate
  7. Sure its difficult, but certainly not impossible. And don't misunderstand what I'm saying...I think both Collin and Tristan need to be playing more...Collin at 18 and Tristan at 20 minutes per game at this point is well under where I would like them to be. But your starting line-up isn't just your top five scorers. Ben Bell is the only player on the team who is actually distributing the ball thus far...he has twice as many assists as anybody else on the team...and this is coming from being asked to play the 2. I did get the chance to watch the OSU and ISU games...and Bell was being run of the high screen in the 1-4 offense the same way I watched Hopkins, Watson and K.D....JJ is trying to make Bell a scorer, perhaps to try and harness the flashes Bell showed in the SBC tourney or perhaps to get Josh on the ball, I'm not sure...but as I stated Ben's shots are up significantly from last season and its not where he's best suited. And like I mentioned previous, your starting line-up isn't just a collection of your five leading scorers...as it stands now with Dennis coming off the bench we have a deep team...without his scoring ability depth has gone from a luxury to a liability...who scores off the bench? Dez and Adam have struggled the same way Ben has...Harold and Kedrick aren't scorers. When Dennis checks in he knows his role...score the basketball...and that kind of punch off the bench is vital to maintaining consistant scoring throughout the game. Ben's also your best perimeter defender...he will be the best option Weds. on D.J. Augustine and later in the year on the likes of Bo McCalebb, Adrian Banks and Daon Merritt. Now, the last 5-8 minutes of a game are a completely different story...if Dennis, White and TT are scoring then Ben Bell's role is cheerleader. Ben will be a big key to this team sustaining success throughout this season...theres no doubt that so far he has been a disappointment, but I don't believe he's being properly utilized
  8. Bump We have a team that can fall behind by 3 touchdowns and comeback and win by a field goal.
  9. So you want a line up which averages together 3.7 assists per game? Bell hasn't been great but hes the only player actually handing out assists. JJ seems to think Josh should be on the ball and Ben should be a scorer...Ben's up over a shot and a half per game this season than last...switch those and the line-up will be fine...Josh, Ben and TT starting, Collin and Dez seeing most of the bench minutes.
  10. Howerton has been contributing in limited time...Stewart is the one I'm surprised is so low...it seems like hes been a big boost off the bench.
  11. 2-0 against the Big 10 so far.
  12. I did not have the luxury of watching the game...so read this with that in mind. First...I don't like the line-up of Bell, Willingham and White starting. That leaves 3-4 off-guard/wings on the bench and your best 3 ball handlers on the floor. Our problem last year was a lack of consistancy off the bench at the point. If you want Bell and White on the floor together, start Thompson or McCoy on the wing and let Dez be the back-up point. Second...and kinda on the same topic...Josh White isn't a point guard. He's a poor man's Bo McCalebb in development...hes capable of handling the point for stretches, but a 0 assist night and a 1.2 assist average are not PG numbers. Third...and another good segue...we had 7 assists last night...total...2 from our posts (Williams and Wooden had one each.) That is awful. Our posts need more than 6 shots a piece and that responsibility falls to the guards Fourth...Ben Bell had a solid Ben Bell night and that is a good sign - 5-8 from the floor, 0 three point attempts, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. Fifth...and I think this will work itself out as the season progresses, but I feel we're playing too many people...and without any real sort of rotation. I think JJ thought that last night would be a cake walk and expiremented with some different line-ups but in order to win tonight I think 8-9 people should see extended minutes). Why did Keith only play 12 minutes? Tristan 16? Sixth...despite JJ not wanting Players of the Game...I think Harold Stewart and Tristan Thompson are deserving. Stewart has been great in his role thus far; last night - 7 points, 7 rebounds (3 offensive) and 2 blocks...TT put up a similar night, but in just 16 minute (6 points, 8 rebounds (3 offensive), 2 assists and a steal) Last night may've been rust after 9 days off...and I think some of that blame has to fall at the feet of JJ and I think he knows it...his post-game comments were very uncharacteristic and I think he was most upset at himself. Look for a tighter rotation tonight...and TT back in the starting lin-up. To those who saw the game please feel free to critique this assesment...thanks.
  13. ULM - 72 Iowa - 67 (OT)- After a shaky start to the season the Warhawks may need to be mentioned in the top tier of the Sun Belt once again. Tony Hooper led the Warhawks with 26 and Jordan Payne, Lance Brasher and Raphael Turner all chipped in double figures in the win. Monroe shot 48% from the field...but also 48% from the free throw line and some consistancy at the stripe would've kept this game out of OT, especially from Hooper who was 4-10. ULM showed some resolve, trailing by 9 at the half and by as many as 16 in the second. The Warhawks will face Rice in the championship game of the Hawkeye Classic tonight. ULL- 70 #11.Tennessee - 98 - True freshman Chris Gradingo led the Cajuns with 14 while David Dees chipped in 14 and Elijah Milsap 12 as Lafayette fell to Tennessee by 41 fewer points than MTSU did two weeks ago. Gradingo was thought to be a redshirt candidate in a crowded Cajun backcourt, but has emerged as ULL's best outside option, knocking down 3 threes in the loss. Tonight: WKU vs. Northern Arizona - A week after taking 4th place in the Great Alaska Shootout, the Toppers travel to Flagstaff to take on the 3-3 Lumberjacks who's three losses were in OT to Pepperdine, by 7 at Arizona and a blow out at Kansas MTSU vs. Houston - The Raiders will have their hands full with a 6-1 Cougar team whose only loss was a 1 point defeat at Virginia Communwealth. Troy vs. TAMU Corpus Christi - TAMCC has been inconsistant in the early season, a 1-3 record with their win against a good Oral Roberts squad, but a bad loss to Texas Southern mixed in. FAU vs. McNeese St. - FAU returns home after a miserable Midwest roadtrip...and the Owls look forward to the return of Paul Graham who did not travel. McNeese played LSU to within 4 points earlier this season. UNO vs. Nichols State - UNO looks to remain as the only unbeaten in the Belt tonight against a 1-6 Nichols St. squad who has lost 5 in a row. UALR vs. Tulsa - The Trojans seek their fourth win in a row. Tulsa is 2-2 including a win against Arkansas St. earlier in the season. ULM vs. Rice - The Warhawks look to take the Hwkeye classic tonight against the Owls...Rice is 1-4, their first win coming last night against Eastern Illinois. UNT vs. New Mexico St - UNT held on for a win against the hated Mustangs...need to find the touch from the line and the arc to beat the Aggies and improve to 5-1. 3 games against the Southland and 2 against CUSA...I think an undefeated night isn't out of the question if MTSU can actually get consistant contributions from their top players (Kanaskie, Yates, Green)...but 7-1 would sound great to me.
  14. if you need a third reciever...I bring my lunch pail everyday. I WILL NOT, however, be your Wes Welker
  15. Yeah...I'd love another thrilling national championship game demonstrating just how slow the entire Big 10 Conference is. OHHOWILOVETOHATEOHIOSTATE...Hail to the Victors. I've never been a proponent of a college football playoff until this season when two teams are basically going to back their way into the title game. I thought that college football was unique because EVERY game had the significance of a playoff game...this year proved that wrong. Go Mizzou, Go West Virginia...FU Jim Tressel, FU Horseshoe thats no longer a horseshow, FU Ohio State.
  16. It seems I've heard something similar... ...makes me want to stay away from this guy.
  17. Is head coach at Houston really a promotion from Offensive Coordinator at Alabama, or, if Saban leaves and brings Major with him, LSU? Briles moved up(????) to Baylor. If Major bides his time for 2-3 years under Saban he can come into a better situation than Houston.
  18. I think Kind DL has got it right...and that fears me. I think the offense shows up Navy-like...60-70 points, really letting off some frustration. On top of that, I think the defense shows up and that REALLY concerns me that back-to-back adequate defensive performances against WKU and FIU and everybody will be quick to forget Oklahoma, Arkansas, SMU, Troy, Navy, ULL ect. Honestly...a repeat of SMU or Navy...great offense and awful defense...may do this program more good in the long run...defense so bad that there is no logical explination for bringing back Ron Mendoza as DC. Hope I'm wrong...but I just see a good defensive game tomorrow as essentially a vote of confidence for Mendoza. UNT - 71 FIU - 19
  19. USA - 88 Vanderbilt - 91 - Demetric Bennett played 49 minutes of a 50 minute game, scoring 25 points and pulling down 8 rebounds...he also managed to avoid picking up a single foul despite being matched up against Vandy star Shan Foster most of the night. Neither team seperated from the other by any more than eight points, a lead the Jags held mid-way through the second half before Vandy made a late push to tie things up. Ronald Douglass tipped in a missed jumper from Daon Merritt to force double overtime, yet a last second three from B.J. Ford missed its mark giving the Commodores a three point victory. ASU - 71 UT-Martin - 69 - Six games into the season and its safe to say that if Adrian Banks gets help ASU is still a good team. Last night Banks dropped 22, but got nice complimentary efforts from Shawn Morgan (12 points, 11 rebounds), Yima Chia Kur (11 points) Ryan Wedel and Michael Lance (7 points each). FIU - 61 RMU - 88 - Kenneth White led the Panthers with 18 and Alex Galindo contributed 13, but FIU allowed Robert Morris to shoot 61(!) percent from the field and 71(!!!!!) percent from 3 point land and the Panthers were never really in the game. Three games tonight: UL-Lafayette vs. #11 Tennessee - Not expecting a miracle win...just please keep it closer than 69 points like MTSU UL-Monroe vs. Iowa - Iowa comes into this game in the midst of a 3 game losing streak, and has back-to-back games with in state rivals Northern Iowa and Iowa State following tonights game...ULM finally got their offense on track by dropping 105 on Wedsneday, albeit against Alcorn State. UNT vs. Western New Mexico - UNT hasn't played in 9 days...plenty of time to correct the mistakes made at Texas Hall...and hopefully bring home a Lou Henson Classic title. Need a reason to hate Western New Mexico? Nickname: Mustangs.
  20. On a similar musical note, did you know that Fat Joe left Atlantic Records?
  21. Now Phil...if I were to say I give your performance an A- and Justin would give it a B+...what would you play in the background? In terms of performance...I give it a D-...in terms of accidental hilarity its an A+ bud.
  22. Sounds like a gamer to me.
  23. Our friendship is on hiatus until you watch...you missing out on so many great gmg posts which reference the greatness of The Big Lebowski In a related story...I went bowling with a chick up here and asked if she had seen The Big Lebowski...she said it was her ex's favorite movie and when they watched it together she fell asleep...and he never called her again. Thats commitment to a movie right there!! I was so proud of that guy.
  24. I only went to see you...and the occassional Wes Welker wide open in the flat.
