  1. More than likely the "other" factor is cash...if Stephens is the least qualified as seems to be the board's concensus...that probably meant she would command the least money. All 7 season ticket holders and the other 50 or so people who show up for the womens games should be pleased to know their ticket prices aren't going up. I need to stop this...its still women's basketball
  2. He wouldn't have been happy with anyone but Pat Summit...just let him stew in his self-impossed depression and un-realistic expectations. Oh my God, I just commented on Womens Basketball...gross
  3. And he must've been wearing a soaking wet corduroy suit when he checked in at 215 pounds. That kid is 6'8" 190...maybe.
  4. One of my favorite college players is the undersized, rugged power forward...he probably falls in line right behind the heady, white point guard. I remember watching Kent State make it to I believe the sweet sixteen with 6'5" Antonio Gates pulling down double digit boards. That said...I still think overall we're still too small next season
  5. Carlos Monroe and Michael Southall would probably throw their names out there as well....hell, so would Shawnson Johnson The Sun Belt will be considerably bigger next season. ULL will add 4 guys 6'8" or better, two of them UNLV transfers...UALR adds Purdue transfer Johnathon Uchendu at 6'11" 210 to go with Mike Smith at 6'7" 280...both Florida schools are adding 6'9" 250 big men to alrerdy big frontcourts...USA returns its entire frontcourt...Magley and Evans return for WKU...even ULM will add a talented combo forward from Miami (who may end up playing center in Orlando Early's system). I love the Tramiel signing...and I think in JJ's up and down style the combination of Tramiel and Odufuwa will be more effective than Keith and Q who frequently labored up and down the floor. That said, Odufuwa at the 5 concerns me. The Belt will have some big and talented 5s next season and an undersized Odufuwa will be prone to cheap fouls and fatigue. I would love to see the last scholarship go to another big guy...I just don't think it will...JJ appears to me to be too loyal to his senioirs Stewart and Howerton and will once again count on them for significant minutes off the bench. I just don't think a frontcourt of Tramiel, Odufuwa, Hogans, Howerton and Stewart is big enough.
  6. This is only a little bit more than message board rumor...but it appears FAU head basketball coach Rex Walters maybe off to the Univ. of San Francisco. Walters is a native of San Jose, CA. If this does pan out the Sun Belt would've lost two good young coaches in the matter of a month (Darrin Horn to South Carolina). FAU has what appears to be the best incoming recruiting class thus far in the conference...wings Freddie Riley and Dago Pena and post Jimmie Sutton are all impact players who may end up elsewhere if this move turns out to be true. I'll try and find some actual confirmation
  7. Jameson 18 sir...is heaven
  8. Ryan Hopkins was the less talented twin of Bryan...I believe he remained on scholarship for two seasons with the Ponies. I still debate whether or not Bryan wouldve been worth 2 scholarships as we had an inside track on him because of Leonard. I keep seeing these Bobo to UNT ideas...and as homer as I am, I just don't think its feasible...of course I hope I'm wrong.
  9. UNT 92...this is for you. I love you
  10. Well played. Am I the only person picturing sold out sections D and F with absolutly nobody sitting in E? Or if you put people in the first three of four rows of section E...it would look like the letter U...we could seat people in an N in the North end zone and a T in the student section...that would look pretty cool
  11. LSU is about to realize that their basketball program doesn't carry anywhere near the cred their football program does. They're going to have to money whip Johnson or Brey to get them out of their respective jobs. I hate to say it...but its looking more and more likely that we'll be searching for a new coach by tax day. The silver lining may be our commitments seek other options.
  12. Gas doesn't seem to follow this traditional economic logic...I mean if I drive past a place thats selling gas for $3.05 I'm stopping even with 3/4 of a tank...despite the fact thats twice as expensive as it was 3 years ago. It seems everyone is more willing to make cut backs in other areas of their lives than to change their routines to lessen their gas dependancy. I think this is the biggest B.S. explination. Are refineries the only company...ever...to not build in maintenance costs to the price of their product? In no other industry do flucuations in maintenance affect prices. And appearantly, this is the most careless industry in America...I've never heard of so many "accidents" again conveniently affecting cost. Well...maybe the airlines Are you suggesting that we not search and attempt to develop "alternative" fuels?
  13. We've had good success with the brothers of D-1 power forwards...I wonder if Kilgore's Emmanuel Bidias a Moute, brother of UCLA's Luc Richard, is on JJ's radar
  14. We definently needed to address point guard with Ben leaving. Josh is probably capable at the point, but better off the ball, same with Collin...so signing a true 1 was a priority...I just wish it wasnt a JUCO, especially with a prep PG like Cardell McFarland available. Kirkland is just a freshman so he may choose to stay with UAFS to become a starter next season and improve on his 6.6 points and 4.7 rebounds per game. He is 6'7" 250 and I would take his 3 years of eligibility over the 4 years of any of our freshman prospects...signees included
  15. Thats a tiny backcourt if JJ is thinking of making Johnson the primary 1 and Josh the 2...I mean, tiny.
  16. Dominique Johnson - 9.4 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.1 apg, 1.0 spg, 45.5% FG%, 39.4% 3ptFG%, 73.9% FT% Not a bad line...finished fourth on the team in scoring, seems to rebound pretty well for his size and I like the assist totals and field goal percentage for a guard. My bet, however, would be that this signing takes Cardell McFarland off the board...and I'm kinda disappointed to sign another JUCO point guard.
  17. Jeremiah Chapman and Maurice holman are listed as the 73rd and 111th best outside linebackers of 233.
  18. There would be no need for more refineries if our government, gas companies, automakers and general public would insist upon utilizing more practical and environmentally friendly energy sources...and no...not E85...thats just a big fuck you to us "tree-huggers" when its attempted to be marketed as "green energy." Nobody likes you Iowa. The biggest unknown factor driving up gas prices are hedge fund speculation...which is thought to be able to add about 20% to gas prices...without speculative trading, based on that figure, your $3.50 gallon of gas is running you $2.80...which, somehow, is a more appealing price. It'll be a much better place when water and the sun power our cars
  19. It just perpetuates the stereotype that Sul Ros is in the wilderness...they need to be more aware of public perception before they do something beneficial for their school.
  20. ValueJet humor was funny in 96...ValueJet humor is funny now. I really can't believe the insecurity in some of you...it isn't healthy. I mentioned in another thread hyping our Music program...and I was jumped all over for that despite the fact that it really is the only EXCEPTIONAL program at our school...all of our other schools are wonderful...but on par (slightly better in some areas, slightly worse in others) to most of the other schools in Texas...UT, A&M, TCU, SMU, Tech(maybe), Houston, ect...public or private...you will end up with a comparable education. The fact that UNT can do it for an affordable price is something that ought to be marketed. And I don't think that has any effect on school pride. UNT is not UT or A&M...no high school kid is painting his bedroom wall green (or consistantly changing the shade of green paint) and dreaming of the day that he can sit in Fouts and cheer on the Mean Green. Even of us...the die-hard Mean Green fans...I'll set the low bar at 75% of us that UNT was a fall back or second choice...and that other 25% of us had parents who went here. The recruiting theory here has always been, if you can get the kids to Denton they'll love it and want to stay. Same thing goes with the regular student. UNT is in a transitional period...we're not a commuter school...and despite the Phonies insistance...I think we're no longer recognized as such. The Master Plan and Stadium will make UNT a much more aesthetically pleasing campus and everybody is rightfully excited about our athletic program. Denton itself is even becoming more appealing a destination...especially as Austin continues to gentrify. Fry Street's decline as seen the rise of Industrial and the Square and an emerging music scene. Just be patient
  21. Have Atleast shes wearing the right green colored shirt
  22. There is so much over-looked genius in this statement...and it was by Dodge2007...how did nobody pick up on this? Brilliant, man...brilliant
  23. For gloom and doom complaining...please click here
  24. Could depend on whose choice it was to sit out the scrimmage with such a minor injury. If the coaching staff kept Meager off the field its one thing...but if Meager, who has already had one poor scrimmage, was looking for an excuse for that performance and is lacking confidence, its really good to see Nathan making strides. Not a Meager attack...rather an observation...I think its best for this year and the future if Meager, Tune and Phillips all are performing as well as possible, making the redshirting choice on Riley an obvious one
