  1. There in lies a major part of the problem. Fruits, vegetables and really anything of any real nutritional value is expensive. If you only have $100 a month for groceries you are forced into buying cheap and subsequently fatty meats, simple carbohydrates and starches in order to stretch your budget as far as possible. If you do get any veggies they're frozen (significantly reducing their nutritional value) That said...simply raising the monthly food allowance for these two would only increase their buoyancy. Perhaps with food stamps ought to come some sort of nutrtion course. The course, of course, would cost tax payer money (which I've learned is bad) but in the long run should cut down on their medical costs (which is good) Ohh...and if we do decide to add Puerto Rico as a state, but at the same time decide that we still only want 50 states...I'll have no problem with letting Ohio become a free agent...I mean when Columbus, Cincinati and Cleveland are your major attractions...that state is such a shithole.
  2. Over the Rhine is a really cool band...sort of a Norah Jones-esque lead singer over some good piano work. Their song "Lifelong Fling" is going to be my wedding song. This is what we were discussing right?
  3. You improve by competing against better compitition. If you want to be upset at someone...be upset at the tournaments that are granting her the exemptions.
  4. Egalitarianism - a belief in human equality especially with respect to social, political, and economic rights and privileges. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you all are one in Christ Jesus (Gal.3:28). My egalitarianism has nothing to do with guilt.
  5. I waver on whether or not this should be prosecuted as a hate crime...my rationale for not doing so is that he felt it would be more difficult to secure convictions in the face of the evidence that exists that these men associated frequently with white people, had white friends and dated white people. The defense would simply parade ex-girlfriends and friends and steer the jury to only thinking about race rather than the horrible murders and rapes. The four main perpetrators' charges should be enough to secure max convivtions. I do have a problem with these blogs that have been posted that suggest that this crime isn't recieving "mainstream media" (the most tired of tired-head terms) attention because the victims are white. The idea that any major media outlet has an "anti-white bias" is insane...just wait for the next pretty, rich white girl to disappear on a Caribbean vacation. You said its got to be hard for these families to hear the details of the crime in court...yet you want to add on to that by making them hear them everytime they turn on a TV or radio too?
  6. Anybody have any more information on Dan Holt and Sterling Carter? Both these guys seem like a big step up in quality and size from who we typically bring in as walk-ons (250 lb O-Linemen, 230 lb D-Linemen). Even if these guys can't compete at a college level they significantly improve practices.
  7. According to your tastes I'm now attempting to trace our lineage...does this make us brothers...or am I sort of an uncle to you? It gets so convoluted...you're the expert...could you help me out?
  8. Bo is destined for the D league for a while...he's athletic and tough enough for the NBA, he just doesn't have the jumper or the point guard skills. Give him two years and he should find a spot as a back-up point guard some where. All that said...I'd much rather have him than J.J. Barea.
  9. You would get 23 more fans in the gates at Fouts. The rest of the tailgaters will just pack it up and head to Tavern.
  10. yeah and you didn't like me for years after because "she was like a sister" to you.
  11. If you want to fill a stadium go find a fuller stadium...like the one a few minutes east of Denton on 380. Set up some sort of ticket free or discounted ticket packages for Denton Bible Church..."Saturday with Dodge, Sunday with God" or some-such. Seriously, those folks travel in packs...and you won't to have to worry about most of them just staying in the parking lot tailgating
  12. So did you just happen to have stock photographs of your truck clearing brush, prepping for outhouse construction and hauling your boat (motor boat accidents cause on average 787 deaths per year...I'm considering calling for their elimination)...or did you doll it up, give it the good turtle wax and take it out for some glamour shots specifically to post on this thread?
  13. Jesus Camp, March of the Penguins, King of Kong, Wordplay and the Beuna Vista Social Club...if you want that documentary feel, but don't neccessarily care how "truthful" it is, you can not go wrong with any Christopher Guest movie (Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind).
  14. Well we have seen 3 write ups on this...2 have us playing, 1 doesn't...still good odds we're in. Perhaps in one Hofstra is the team TBD, in the next UNT. Hope so...this is shaping up to be a really nice looking tourney...one top tier ACC team (Clemson), 3 programs with solid hoops tradition (Temple, Hofstra, Charleston) and a local rival (TCU). I really hope we are a part of this one. Hmm...I've always wanted to go to Charleston...
  15. I'm not saying you're wrong...I just found this line really funny I agree...I ended up graduating in August rather than May because I had to take 2 freshmen level classes that I was informed years prior that I had tested out of...some blame lies with the student of course, but I don't think its fair to indict Horton without the entirerty of the evidence.
  16. I haven't really kept up with this thread, but let me try and weigh in on the major points Defensive Ends - it sucks, but every team goes through these things. In order to develop as a player you need to play, so the Charlie Brown's and Mack Cole's of this need to view this as a great opportunity. Also, we have a defensive coordinator who got to "B" in his how to coach ABC book...thus he should know how to blitz. Stadium/Luxury Boxes - The boxes will sell...I know for certain that with the amount of alcohol consumed in Denton that Budweiser, Miller, and Coors will each buy atleast one box per game to court the local bar owners and managers...its a great write off and will be considerably cheaper than taking us to Mavs games, Stars games or local concerts. Hell, if the boxes are like the AAC and not entirely enclosed so that you can still get the football game atmosphere I would probably organize a group to buy one for whatever game I come back for. The Goldfields - I believe that Al Goldfield was pivital in developing the technology responsible for Caller ID and some how worked out some sort of royalty where he gets a fraction of a cent for every cell phone call made. This might just be late night Loophole, Jameson induced B.S., but its how I heard they made their fortune.
  17. DE - Latif Nurudeen DT - Greg Garden DT - Germain Dawson DE - DaWaylon Cook OLB - Kartay Agbottah MLB - Darien Williams OLB - Royce Hill CB - Antoine Bush CB - Adryan Adams FS - Kylie Hill SS - Justin Edwards Fastest defense in the Sun Belt...though I don't like the inexperience at linebacker...maybe we should move Steve Warren back to safety. Seriously (unlike you Tasty I do funny first) this really is just opportunity knocking. EVERY football team goes through stuff like this...do you think UT sits around crying that the sky is falling just because another one of their recruits got arrested? NO...they see who's getting paroled to take his place. We have a core of guys who are viewing this as a chance to justify their spot on this team...I like the potential in guys like Charlie Brown, Marquis Sykes, Sam Owasu-Hemeng, Draylon Ross, Jordan Scroggins, Jesse DeSoto, Mack Cole, Johnathon Stewart, Ryan Davenport and even some of the true freshmen like Joe Hawthorne, Troy Franklin, Tevinn Cantly and Aaron Fortenberry. Every one of these guys are unproven...but so was Eddrick Gilmore last year...you need a chance to prove yourself. Plus this year we've hired a defensive coordinator
  18. Just giving this a huge amount of love (not gay) before it gets taken down. Brilliant
  19. Help the environment...and perhaps gas prices. My sainted mother just emailed this to me...its supposed to be a slide show, but I can't get it to actually start...you may need flash. However you can simply page down to read the slides. I don't have any specifics on the corrilation between the oil used in plastics production and the oil used in fuel production...perhaps Stewart Gilligan Griffen could chime in...but this seems like a very simple, efficient, smart and practical step that we could all take to help our planet...you know...that place we all inhabit. I'm just sure there is some controversy on this that I don't know about and I'm opening a huge floodgate...I promise if that happens it was accidental.
  20. I've had some scotch that I'm pretty certain could fuel my car...but then I suppose you're left with a huge dilemma when filling up...lets say you get $20 bucks worth...how much actually makes it to the car? Lot more DWI roadblocks too.
  21. I seriously can't tell if this is a bit. If it is...its funny. If its not...then its hilarious.
  22. Also don't forget that he is swimming in debt because everything is on credit...yet for some reason he is always quick to ask "wanna compare W-2's" I can excuse Green P1's confussion if he is still in school...I mean, I still knew Chris-Chris, but "Why Today Doesn't Suck" used to be the reason I got out of bed. Perhaps he's just an evening P1 who sleeps through much of the Muse. Never leave that lifestyle, man. I mean NEVER
