  1. I don't love those percentages...36% 3pt, 38% FG...he'd be 4th of 4 most appealing transfer options for me. in the end, I'd be fine with him, but all in perspective of everything else surrounding him...like, if we're starting Floyd and an established high-production 2-guard meaning Stevenson and Staveskie are our impact bench/role guards, I think I love it. if we add two Horizon league guards and say they're fighting it out for the starting 2-guard role...or worse, our starting backcourt, well then I feel like our ceiling is a lot lower than what it could/should be. if next season's bench is led by 3-4 ex-CSU players...all guys Robinson knows trusts and vice-versa and all seemingly high-character, hard-working dudes, I think we'd win a lot of basketball games
  2. I saw him and maybe assumed since he was from the Cleveland area he felt more tied to the program, but ya, maybe if as a role player. I'm kinda working off the premise, right or wrong, that the upperclassmen like Arnett and Staveskie will regress 2-3ppg moving from Horizon to AAC, while the two freshmen, especially Stevenson, still have room for their games to grow. that could be antiquated thinking in an era of such movement, but I'm happier for the 10ppg soph than the 12ppg senior
  3. we got the three I wanted...time to close that account and go find a 15+ppg scoring guard elsewhere
  4. we should be looking at everyone who fit's the program Robinson is looking to build regardless of where they played last season. sometimes top 50 recruits turn into Rondel Walker...really good role/energy/defensive players sometimes un-recruited players turn into Tylor Perry...HoF-worth legends.
  5. I think Wright had just enough to be your number 1 scoring option here...but needed better complimentary parts as the 2nd/3rd options. if he was our 2nd option all year and we had PJ Haggerty-type as the 1 we'd be looking at the best team in program history end season/NIT Floyd was different...and had he been around all season he was enough to be that 3rd option above Lorient has so much upside, but man I don't trust him with the ball in his hands for more than 3 seconds. I will LOVE it if he stays, but won't cry if he leaves
  6. probably the more than likely 13 PG. Jasper Floyd - I'd be happy if he sticks around, especially the more assertive version we saw in the NIT...probably a tick below Big 12 standards, at least as a starter SG. Je'Shawn Stevenson - I think he needs another year, but all his stats indicate he'll be a star SF. D1 transfer that we're all assuming/hoping will be the leading scorer PF. Grant Newell C. Dylan Arnett Key Bench - Brock Vice - just trying to talk myself into the idea he's staying - Tyran Mason/DJ Thomas - can't get over the idea only one of these dudes will be here next year - Cahmai Crosby - everything I can find says he's just barely good enough to carve out a role here - Reece Robinson - there's a lot of upside here Developmental Bench - Baron Smith - if all the above happens, all your bigs are seniors so maybe there's a role in 2 years - freshman guard - freshman guard - freshman wing
  7. Dream 13 Starters: PG. Rowan Brumbaugh - transfer Tulane (facilitator with the ability to score the rock) SG. Jaron Pierre - transfer Jax State (pure scoring guard with some size) SF. Tyran Mason/DJ Thomas - Dello role, high-level athlete more interested in defending than scoring PF. Brennan Lorient - biggest recruiting job for the new gaffer C. Dylan Arnett - experienced hard working post Key Bench - Je'Shawn Stevenson - scoring guard - Jasper Floyd - reserve PG, defensive stalwart - Brock Vice - 6'10" with legit perimeter game...man I hope he stays - Grant Newell - rugged, experienced stretch 4/5 Developmental Bench - Reece Robinson - probably has a big role next year - Baron Smith - if all the above happens, all your bigs are seniors so maybe there's a role in 2 years - Cahmai Crosby - his profile makes sense...hard being too excited about him right now - high-upside scoring guard freshman from Denton-area high school
  8. I hear you, but so far I think what we're adding from CSU is a plus to our overall roster build there were a handful of lower-level transfers that made an impact on winning tourney teams this season. Kai Huntsberry was a D2 transfer, keep in mind I think it's all about the individual player and perspective of their expectations. - Stevenson was an impact freshman who I bet had his coach not come here likely would've been transferring up anyway - Arnett looks like a tougher version of Newell who stays 15-feet and in - Reece Robinson seems to have a bunch of upside now if we carry over much more from their roster, I'll be concerned...but so far that's a good start to a 8-9 man rotation
  9. I mean...I feel the same about you, so maybe we just walk away amicably?
  10. 69-67. more great points, bruh.
  11. I immediately thought of the Haggerty prayer v. Memphis
  12. our mediocre, no championship-winning coach just got hired UP in the college sports world and most of you don't know what to do because 98% of your fandom is seemingly centered around water cooler talks with your Horn/Aggie/Raider/Bear/Mustang/Frog co-workers, and the feelings of inadequacy you feel toward your rather mid Alma Mater's sports history always well to the surface and cloud perspective and as such you've never learned to just enjoy the successful basketball we've had since 2017... so finally, that era is over. I was initially a bit ambivalent on the Robinson hire, but the more I've dug the more I like the pick and think at worst he is a good continuity hire to continue our upward trajectory as a basketball program as likely would've been the case had Hodge stayed another season, we're going to be looking at a brand new roster for the '25-26 season yet again. just the nature of the beast. wanna complain about it? fine, I guess...but last I checked ESPN+ isn't putting a gun to your head to watch these games. so, what do we have so far? 3 CSU transfers: - Je'Shawn Stevenson - G - 6'2" 200 - Soph - starting guard/6th man potential - Dylan Arnett - F - 6'9" 240 - Sr - likely starter at the 4/5 - Reece Robinson - F - 6'8" 225 -Soph - 15-20 minutes/game reserve Possible Retunees, Known Commodities: - Brennan Lorient - F - 6'9" 215 - Sr - imma set it at 25/75 at best that B-Lo is back...he's done enough to get paid more than UNT can offer - Jasper Floyd - G - 6'3" 195 - Sr - 50/50? I like him and want him back, but I would think WVU fans would be under-whlemed dropping a ship on him next year - Grant Newell - F - 6'9" 220 - Sr - he's maddening, sure...but he fills a role here and given the Chicago connect, I bet he's back Possible Returnees, Unknowns: - Tyran Mason - G - 6'6" 195 - RS-Fr - hope he stays, I guess? - Brock Vice - F - 6'10" 240 - Soph - gotta think he either stays or Hodge had a plan for him and brings him to WVU...I see little middle ground here - Alex Cotton -G - 6'5" 200 - So/Jr(?) - two years here and no PT likely means a transfer down...best of luck in the SoCon - Baron Smith - F - 6'9" 220 - Fr - just on the eyeball test at shoot-around in Phili, we could do worse for a prospect...wouldn't be disappointed if he stayed Incoming Recruits: - DJ Thomas - F - 6'7" 210- Fr - I've seen their game described differently, but I'd be happy if either he or Mason stuck for next year...they're probably filling a similar roll - Cahmai Crosby - 6'3" 180 - Soph - solid JUCO numbers...looks like a role player...happy if he's a contributor next season, but won't lose sleep if he never steps foot on campus Recruitment Needs: - #1 lead scoring guard - we need 15ppg ideally from a winning D1 program walking through the door - starting center - I would love someone who makes either Arnett or Newell our reserve 4/5...both if B-Lo happens to stay - starting PG - I mean, in an ideal world Floyd stays, but is our swing guard and we add a dynamic PG - 6'5"-ish wings - can never have too many
  13. go ahead an elaborate.
  14. we lost a good basketball game by 2 points to a very good basketball team. it happens. any analysis beyond that is just douchebaging stupid
  15. "we missed too many shots" damn. that's some A+ analysis.
  16. were you saying the same thing in the first 10 minutes of the game? you're all better when we suck. winning is wasted on the lot of you.
  17. it was a 30+ win team that was consistently ranked above us by all "mid-major" polls/followers for effs sake we have such a whiny-ass fan base.
  18. good game, great season, best decade-ish in program history. on to the next generation
  19. I hope we bring Newell back, but that he also goes to the You-Know-You-Can-Dunk clinic in the off-season
  20. I think he meant that they crossed paths as assistants on the recruiting trail
  21. three in for next season Ja'Shawn Stevenson - 6'2" 200 Fr. - this was the one that jumped out from their roster after I learned of the hire...from Chicago, all Horizon freshman team, averaged just shy of 10ppg...not great 3pt numbers (34.5%...comparable percentage to Floyd/Massie, but on twice as many attempts) but those percentages usually go up with age...2pt FG% at 44.5% would've made him the third most efficient scorer here behind Lorient and Sissoko...84% FT% would've been second behind Wright. Dylan Arnett - 6'9" 240 Jr - 11ppg 7rbg...including almost 3 offensive rebounds/game...has literally taken 1 3-pointer in his entire career...just reads like a super hard-working and efficient post player and has gotten consistently better each year at CSU. don't know if 11ppg will translate, but I could see this dude being 8&8 next year as our swing 4/5 Reece Robinson - 6'8" 225 Fr - coach's son, but (as mentioned above) those underlying numbers for a freshman actually look pretty good...5.5ppg, 4.5rpg in 16 minutes/game...15 starts as a true freshman, 6'8" 225...that's a contributor
  22. one year does not a pattern make. it's the first year since '08 all four 1-seeds have made the final and contained in that 17-year gap are 2 16-seed wins, 7 15-seeds including 3 Sweet Sixteen and 1 Elite Eight, and Final Four appearances from schools like FAU, Wichita State, Loyola-Chicago and Virginia Commonwealth I know things are going to be getting more top-heavy, but in no way do I feel the "Cinderella" is going away from college basketball.
  23. I was gonna say his son, Reece, but those underlying numbers for a freshman actually look pretty good...5.5ppg, 4.5rpg in 16 minutes/game...15 starts as a true freshman, 6'8" 225...that's a contributor
