did you honestly feel in posting this that you were making some sort of bold prediction that if came true would validate you as some sort of sports prognosticating expert? because really all you did was make a big show of taking the chalk. this is all safe. boring. hell, @UNTLifer's prediction of UNT winning the league, while slightly in jest and/or super biased, now that is actually bold...and I will celebrate him and his vision if/when it comes true. next time you chose to make a whole new thread for your opinion, could you do everyone a favor and at least make it remotely interesting? thanks, buddy.

I'm going to go bonkers for about one minute here...it's on fan abuse...I'm trying to find out because I'm traveling that day what time the kick off is on UNT/Temple. that game is one and a half weeks away...ummm, TV doesn't have a time for it yet...uhh, the websites don't have a time for it yet...I just called the University of North Texas and said "do YOU know when it's going to start?" and I was told they have not set up a time for it yet. I called DATCU and talked to their ticket office, and I was told, quite honestly, they don't know what time it is. THIS IS TELEVISION! this is television doing this. make up your minds and set a time. this is fan abuse! these people have the right to know, to schedule their day one and a half weeks early. these are the flat-bleeping idiots on television who will not set a time. this is the type of abuse that goes on all the time as television changes start times, changes everything on the fans. THIS IS RIDICULOUS! what are you waiting for? one of these teams to lose four in a row so you can make it a 9.30a start on CSTV?! this is flat ridiculous! and it happens every year to people all over the country. this is ludicrous! the people at ESPNU should be ashamed of themselves. ASHAMED OF THEMSELVES! set the time for the game and get it over with. this is a meh game where people might travel 12 miles...and there will be 10, 20, 30, 50 games all over the country this year where television will move it around...they'll move it an hour...they'll move it three hours...they'll move it four hours...they'll make it a night game instead of a day game... DO THEY NOT REALIZE HUMAN BEINGS HAVE TO SCHEDULE THEIR DAYS WHEN THEY WANNA GO TO THE FOOTBALL?!?! no. they sit around with their thumb hidden from daylight, quite honestly. get it done. get it done. do they know, do they not realize these people are not born sitting in a stadium seat? that people (cough, cough) that people actually have to figure out a schedule for their games? this is ludicrous. have a little consideration for your fans. have just the tiniest bit of consideration for your fans. this is ridiculous. and college football should be ashamed of it. and the people at UNT/Temple should be ashamed of letting themselves be pushed around like this. this is an ok game and they're trying to figure out "well, when do we wanna start it? do we wanna start at 11? or 12? or 2.30? or..." this is just (cough, cough) this is just utterly ridiculous.

if a former "star" player here leaves and isn't contributing at a new school, isn't that more a poor reflection on the state of our program than the player himself?

it's a pretty simple cost benefit analysis. 20 years ago when I was in school, I had a confidence that between loans and part-time work I could pay for 4-5 years of public university tuition and that the entry-ish level salary from my college degree would afford myself not a luxurious, but a comfortable life...apartment, car, groceries, a bit of extra-curricular income...and the ability to pay down those loans in 3-5 years. this is what was promised to my entire generation (and the subsequent). that math no longer works. and the fault is everywhere. it's on state governments for deregulating tuition...on universities for sky-rocketing costs...on employers for not raising salaries to meet the added costs of the education needed for those particular fields.

did a little dig through their IG, since their website mentions almost nothing about their spirits and distilling practice (red flag)...figured at best they're making their own vodka/clear spirits on their own stills, but sourcing their browns...did find a shot of them filling 25-ish gallon barrels though, so that means they're doing some accelerated aging on their browns. either way...safe to say this place is a generic "gastropub" first and a distillery second.

apparently no one else wants to take a bunch of party drugs, see the sun come up over Manhattan and go support our alma mater. small time thinking is why we'll never be a big program.

as, I believe, the only person whose paycheck, equity statement, and business cards say "distillers" on them...I suggest anyone making what they believe to be definitive statements read the information provided in this link...it's very thorough and clear on all the specifications of bourbons, save maybe if read too literally this statement: "Bourbon production is similar to the processes of other whiskeys in that Bourbon improves as it spends more time in the barrel" this is not entirely true. yes, in almost all cases an 18 year bourbon will be better than a 5 year. mash bill, barrel toast/char, aging process, distillation process will play a major role in flavor and I've come across plenty of 8-12 years that I prefer to an 18 that said, having drank a lot of very nice, well-aged bourbons, I think well-made bourbon hits it sweet spot in the 15-18 year mark...20 years, especially if you've a corn heavy mash bill, tend to drink a bit sweeter...and then moving past 20 they can often become over-oaked, so adding a kind of chardonnay buttery-ness on top of that over-saturation of corn which for me can come off as way too sweet. all tastes for all people, obviously...but in short, as with so many things in life just because something is the most expensive or rarest or oldest, those are not themselves traits of quality.

the Pot Stilled is a bourbon (Baby Blue a corn whiskey, Lineage an American Single Malt). if you're thinking bourbon must be made in Kentucky, that's incorrect.

Four Roses yellow is about as solid a classic sipping bourbon one can get for sub $30. Jim Beam and Old Grandad, and while not officially bourbon, Mellow Corn, are three classic, quality low-end dive bar whiskies...ideal side-cars for a Shiner or High Life moving into the $50/bottle range (which really should be max range one is paying for bourbon in the 80-90 proof range), I love all things Michter's, Willett, Old Forester and Weller. false scarcity is a major issue in the whiskey world these days...it's not a knock on the juice itself, but Blanton's, Eagle Rare and Buffalo Trace are all never worth the price you can find them at these days. again, save for it being a special release from a local distillery or some-such, you really shouldn't be paying more than $50-ish for a 750mL under 100 proof. my personal preference these days when splurging is to drop $75-100-ish on a barrel-proof bottle...something usually in the 120-130 proof range. while there are people who have trained their palates to enjoy whiskey at such proofs (I'm not one), I prefer to add water to step the proof down into the 100-ish range (it's a simple calculation, but there are also online calculators). you're ostensibly buying whiskey concentrate so one ends up with over a liter of whiskey from a 750mL...plus if you're meticulous enough you can find the ideal spot you like said bourbon...adding water to try it at say 90, 95, 100, 110 proof and seeing what notes shine through and where the alcohol content is pleasing on the tongue
