  1. couldn't agree more. my dream scenario is that all three of our CSU transfers are our key bench players next season...so we still need 4-5 starters (I might be penciling in Stinson as a starter...)
  2. commits 4/8/25 https://nikeeyblscholastic.com/sports/mbball/oa/roster/ej-horton/439 Orangeville Academy...prep school in Ontario, Canada that plays in the same top prep league as the likes of Oak Hill Academy, IMG Academy, Montverde Academy...basically the best prep league in the country. from what I can find, he appears to have been the best player on the worst team in the best league...11ppg, 3rpg, 2apg against elite competition. originally from Chicago...awesome to have that potential pipe-line open

  3. listed as a commit 4/8/25 https://247sports.com/player/curtis-stinson-jr-46133387/ 6'4" 180lb PG from Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, OH (between Cleveland and Akron). from what I can find online, it looks like he averaged 19.5ppg, 7rpg, 3.5apg for his senior season. his father, Curtis Stinson, was a big-time scoring guard at Iowa State...averaged 19.5ppg his last season with the Cyclones...and then bounced around the G-League and Europe for a decade of pro ball. this looks like a legit big get for us...and imma say speaks a bit to my point earlier about these level of players starting to become more and more available to top mid-major programs. I bet 5 years ago he goes to ISU to sit for a year or two
  4. figured I'd try to stream-line things in one place as news starts to trickle in over the next few days and weeks. players can always come back after testing the portal waters, but pretty safe bet to say we'll have an entirely new roster come fall next season. **some new additions just today** as of 4/8/25: - Je'Shawn Stevenson - 6'2" 200, Soph - Dylan Arnett - 6'9" 240 Sr. - Reece Robinson - 6'8" 225 Soph - Cahmai Crosby - 6'3" 180 Jr(?) - Logan Alexander - 6'8" 185 Fr. - Curtis Stinson Jr - 6'4" 180 Fr. - EJ Horton - 6'3" 180 Fr - DJ Thomas - 6'7" 220 Fr (I'll keep him here until it's confirmed otherwise) Stinson, from the Cleveland area, is listed as the 23rd best point guard prospect in the country, per 24/7, offers from Iowa State, Nebraska and Mizzou Horton, from Ontario, had 15 offers including CSU...mostly MAC/Horizon/Summit league-level programs clearly Robisnon's relationships with both landed the commitments...I'd say Horton was likely destined for CSU...Stinson was probably a tier above, but maybe really connected with Coach Robisnon.
  5. will be curious to see how his game and roll evolve in the Big 12. commits to West Virginia.
  6. again, I definitely hear you...but that $200K/year, in what I'll just call "sunk cost" for the sake of this discussion, has always factored into financial math of a basketball roster. you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a team that goes too much deeper than 10 players for a season, so there are always 3-4 non-contributing scholarship players now, you could make the case that those 3-4 players were thought of as developmental and NIL has taken that away...but I A. think the sample size is too small to definitively say that and B. would suggest that you could go back pre-NIL, 20 years, 30 years ago and agin you'd be pretty hard-pressed to find a roster that had 13 eventual contributing scholarship players...players transfer, players don't develop...there's always a miss-rate now, if you wanna make the argument that we somehow cut down to only using 10-11 of our scholarships...and maybe get creative with the accounting and funnel some of that savings into NIL...I'm listening. also, I really don't know the answer here, is a scholarship an actual expense? or is it just a sort of debit to the university's ledger?
  7. 99-52 (66% winning percentage) in the SoCon v. 66-42 (61% winning percentage) in the Horizon I don't think there'd be any (logical) uproar at all.
  8. it absolutely has to be. Grant's if I recall was in the $800K range...and I literally can't think of any other coach save JJ who has ever been hired away from us. we fire our coaches, thank you
  9. I get this logic, but disagree with it for a handful of reasons. 1. I don't believe what we've seen the last two seasons is fully indicative of what we will see in perpetuity moving forward...I think we've seen two unique situations...one being a bunch of seniors transferring up for their last year of eligibility (hard to say they made the wrong choice with all 4 key parts making the Dance) and two, this year, a coaching change which will usually precipitate an exodus. 2. I think building a roster of 13 upperclassmen transfers all expecting play is a recipe for locker-room unrest when invariably a coach will land on an 8-9 man rotation. Vice and Mason and Howell were awesome, engaged cheerleaders all season...and I gotta assume that enthusiasm also carries over into practice. I doubt you get that kind of buy-in from a senior transfer if he ends up glued to the bench 3. we may literally not be able to afford a roster of 13 upperclassmen transfers. 4. as top programs basically build their rosters with transfers and top 50ish high school recruits, I think the level of incoming freshmen potentially available to us will go up. 3-4 star dudes who would sign with a Big 12 team to "develop" may want an opportunity to play now (and it seems from his CSU record, Robinson is more willing to play freshman than Hodge appeared to be) 5. mostly, we're only a few years into this new landscape and I do think there will soon be a normalization back toward keeping players for at least 2-3 seasons. development isn't dead...and given #4, I think we're in a position to benefit. we'll see what plays out
  10. I hope he sticks around, but as I said numerous times throughout the season I would never want to trust him as a number 1 option for our '25 roster, so if the investment has to be between B-Lo and a big time scoring guard, give me the latter.
  11. society all turned downhill the moment we allowed women to wear pants. what's next, voting? speaking out of turn? basketball?
  12. whoever has the biggest NIL budget
  13. Not taking any NIL into consideration…you can do a whole lot worse. I get he’s frustrating, but he was the 7th best player in an 8 man rotation on a 27 win team. He’s worth a scholarship if he wants to stay. Keep in mind, I’m not sure Sissoko ever dunked a basketball until around December this season. Newell’s biggest knock is a lack of toughness at the rim…he can improve.
  14. for effs sake we have such a whiny-ass fan base. sometimes all that's needed is copy & paste
  15. pretty normal for a bunch of players to hop in the portal once a coach leaves...CSU has had 4 or 5 dudes jump in, in addition to the 3 we've landed...doesn't mean they're coming here. my hope is that Robinson is focusing recruiting efforts right now on B-Lo, Floyd, Newell, Vice and Mason, while scouring the portal for a legit lead guard(s) for next season
  16. I don't love those percentages...36% 3pt, 38% FG...he'd be 4th of 4 most appealing transfer options for me. in the end, I'd be fine with him, but all in perspective of everything else surrounding him...like, if we're starting Floyd and an established high-production 2-guard meaning Stevenson and Staveskie are our impact bench/role guards, I think I love it. if we add two Horizon league guards and say they're fighting it out for the starting 2-guard role...or worse, our starting backcourt, well then I feel like our ceiling is a lot lower than what it could/should be. if next season's bench is led by 3-4 ex-CSU players...all guys Robinson knows trusts and vice-versa and all seemingly high-character, hard-working dudes, I think we'd win a lot of basketball games
  17. it's currently 3 of 13 scholarships. everyone calm down.
  18. I saw him and maybe assumed since he was from the Cleveland area he felt more tied to the program, but ya, maybe if as a role player. I'm kinda working off the premise, right or wrong, that the upperclassmen like Arnett and Staveskie will regress 2-3ppg moving from Horizon to AAC, while the two freshmen, especially Stevenson, still have room for their games to grow. that could be antiquated thinking in an era of such movement, but I'm happier for the 10ppg soph than the 12ppg senior
  19. we got the three I wanted...time to close that account and go find a 15+ppg scoring guard elsewhere
  20. we should be looking at everyone who fit's the program Robinson is looking to build regardless of where they played last season. sometimes top 50 recruits turn into Rondel Walker...really good role/energy/defensive players sometimes un-recruited players turn into Tylor Perry...HoF-worth legends.
  21. I think Wright had just enough to be your number 1 scoring option here...but needed better complimentary parts as the 2nd/3rd options. if he was our 2nd option all year and we had PJ Haggerty-type as the 1 we'd be looking at the best team in program history end season/NIT Floyd was different...and had he been around all season he was enough to be that 3rd option above Lorient has so much upside, but man I don't trust him with the ball in his hands for more than 3 seconds. I will LOVE it if he stays, but won't cry if he leaves
  22. probably the more than likely 13 PG. Jasper Floyd - I'd be happy if he sticks around, especially the more assertive version we saw in the NIT...probably a tick below Big 12 standards, at least as a starter SG. Je'Shawn Stevenson - I think he needs another year, but all his stats indicate he'll be a star SF. D1 transfer that we're all assuming/hoping will be the leading scorer PF. Grant Newell C. Dylan Arnett Key Bench - Brock Vice - just trying to talk myself into the idea he's staying - Tyran Mason/DJ Thomas - can't get over the idea only one of these dudes will be here next year - Cahmai Crosby - everything I can find says he's just barely good enough to carve out a role here - Reece Robinson - there's a lot of upside here Developmental Bench - Baron Smith - if all the above happens, all your bigs are seniors so maybe there's a role in 2 years - freshman guard - freshman guard - freshman wing
  23. Dream 13 Starters: PG. Rowan Brumbaugh - transfer Tulane (facilitator with the ability to score the rock) SG. Jaron Pierre - transfer Jax State (pure scoring guard with some size) SF. Tyran Mason/DJ Thomas - Dello role, high-level athlete more interested in defending than scoring PF. Brennan Lorient - biggest recruiting job for the new gaffer C. Dylan Arnett - experienced hard working post Key Bench - Je'Shawn Stevenson - scoring guard - Jasper Floyd - reserve PG, defensive stalwart - Brock Vice - 6'10" with legit perimeter game...man I hope he stays - Grant Newell - rugged, experienced stretch 4/5 Developmental Bench - Reece Robinson - probably has a big role next year - Baron Smith - if all the above happens, all your bigs are seniors so maybe there's a role in 2 years - Cahmai Crosby - his profile makes sense...hard being too excited about him right now - high-upside scoring guard freshman from Denton-area high school
  24. I hear you, but so far I think what we're adding from CSU is a plus to our overall roster build there were a handful of lower-level transfers that made an impact on winning tourney teams this season. Kai Huntsberry was a D2 transfer, keep in mind I think it's all about the individual player and perspective of their expectations. - Stevenson was an impact freshman who I bet had his coach not come here likely would've been transferring up anyway - Arnett looks like a tougher version of Newell who stays 15-feet and in - Reece Robinson seems to have a bunch of upside now if we carry over much more from their roster, I'll be concerned...but so far that's a good start to a 8-9 man rotation
