Rick, it was a real pleasure to help out. Good job of coming up with the idea of the suit cases.

I went outside and the sky was not falling

The trouble with that analogy is that most of the "big" programs are about 30 steps ahead of us in the first place. We have to have a "four step forward and one step back" ratio to even get within visual sight of them within the next ten years. We had a great opportunity to take three (or more) steps forward Saturday............ -
Spanked? A "spanking" would have been a 21-7 loss. This is more like someone picking a fight in the men's restroom with some average looking guy, so that he can show-off to his friends. He then gets his head shoved into the toilet, and the toilet gets flushed a couple of times, right there in front of all his friends. AND THEN, he has to go outside and explain to his girlfriend why his head and the front of his clothes are all wet......and smelly. PLUS, the whole incident gets caught on camera, and downloaded onto the internet for the rest of the world to see.

I haven't posted how I really feel about this loss. Mainly because I don't think there are words in the english language to adequately express it. I suppose that there will be better days, but I don't need to be reminded of what it takes for a winning program to be in place. The rank and file fan has worked very hard to try and make things better for this program. The Greenbackers have put on food events. They've made anyone and everyone welcome at tailgating, and encouraged other people to come out and enjoy the game day atmosphere. We get a bit edgy and frustrated at times (like the time Saturday that some students were fishing through the FREE refreshment kid-pool, and rather than say "thanks for the free water/soda they said "this pool needs more ice"), but we all "keep on keep'in on". We pester our friends/relatives to come to games, we write e-mails to sports writers who slight our school, or ignore it entirely, and we try and make a point of thanking businesses for carrying North Texas gear. Everything was perfectly in place for our program to take a BIG step forward in it's quest for a better conference venue, as well as more local respect. I don't care how many SBC games we win from now on, and I don't give a fat rat's rear about how bad some other schools lost yesterday. I will never forget this HUGE EMBARRASSMENT that was put on in front of 24K fans.....never.

I've gone through the dark days when I got that same look when I wore a North Texas shirt or hat ON CAMPUS. Lay off about the Band. They are finally becoming the organization that I've always hoped they would be...........a very musically talented (without peer) spirit organization. In the REALLY DARK DAYS, the band wouldn't take ANY responsibility for promoting spirit. Now they do......and they still sound great.

I did not post that very embarassing dog picture (that poster should have been banned). I didn't call your coach an ass. And you have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA HOW I FEEL. Yes, Tulsa has been beat up in the past, and may get beat up again. But Tulsa will continue to compete in a higher regarded conference than North Texas. Tulsa will ALWAYS be the only game in town in your area of Oklahoma, and we will always have to struggle against the prejudices that the local media (who are old SWC and Dallas Cowboy centered) have toward us....which ends up affecting our attendance. Since you asked, "Tough game guys. Hope things get better for you the rest of the year" would have been a better comment.

Good Game? That has to be one of the most sarcastic/disingenuous statements I've heard in a long time. We were VERY hospitable to the Tulsa fans that came to our tailgating area. Please don't repay that hospitality by talking down to us. There is no way in hell that was a "great game" .......except for Tulsa.

I know that this may sound a bit harse (especially to a player's parent) but what those players needed was to get their collective heads out of that orifice located just below their belts. I was never more angry at a North Texas player than when we were called for a "helmet off" personal foul. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE FOR DRAWING THAT PENALTY. Holding penalties? I don't think I've seen that many called since I watched a High School JV game! Meager was running for his life most of the night, due to the relentless blitzes. And it doesn't take a real genius to figure out that that would be your opponents plan. Especially when your opponent regarded themselves as BETTER THAN MTSU! Did anyone honestly think that Tulsa was afraid of us (or overly concerned about us) because we found a way to beat MTSU?!? How hard would it have been to give you QB some simple "hot route" pass plays (three steps and throw)......ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SAW AFTER THE FIRST QUARTER THAT TU WAS GOING TO KEEP BLITZING THE HELL OUT OF US UNTIL WE STOPPED IT WITH SHORT PASSES. I totally agreed with DD's assessment that he gave to George Dunham last night in the wrap-up show "we got out-played and out-coached".

me too......actually me three.

Sean. Yes, we are the University of North Texas. However, since as far back as anyone can remember students and alumni have just said "North Texas". "North Texas" has almost always been a part of our school's name, and people have always know what you're talking about when you say "North Texas". It's the same as if you were a "University of Texas" graduate. You just say "Texas" and people would automatically know which school you attended. There is nothing wrong with having clothing and hats with just "NT" on them. I see lots of people wearing hats that just have an orange "T" on it. Everyone knows what that represents, and everyone knows what NT represents.

The other good thing about these Joe Greene jerseys, is that they are very close to the color that the school is pushing this year.

Sports Network Preview -UNT/Tulsa Game

Hopefully the "Mighty Quinn" will be playing healthy this week. I also hope that Sky Pruitt's shoulder is a little better this week. He played pretty well last week, considering he was hurt. -
Any ideas on any Ath Dept Promos

You forgot to mention being entertained by probably the best college band in Texas. The GREEN BRIGADE. ANY student at UT or A$M or TT would just be shaking their heads in disbelief at the thought that North Texas students have to be enticed with giveaways to attend a football game. Especially when their football team is a four time conference champion, has gone to a bowl game four times in a row, AND has the longest conference winning streak in college football. -
Sounds like a plan to me.

I'm going to be there with my pick-up. I should be able to put most of the bread in the back. I have a camper over the bed, so I won't have to tie them down.
-
I think that Scott Toman spent most of his career at Tech as a holder for extra points. I think that he got into MAYBE one game as a QB.
-
I'll be there with my pick-up.

I never thought that anyone would surpass Bernard Jackson's record of 1400 yards for one year. I often wonder what his total yards would have been if he had not been killed after the first game of 1980.

I have two tickets for the Tulsa Game.

Middle TN Drew Almost 21,000 vs NORTH TEXAS
SilverEagle replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I certainly hope that the promotions people in the Athletic office are doing something to keep the public aware of this game. The TALONS should also be making themselves VERY VISABLE on campus this week to remind the students that there is a home game this Saturday. -
You know. You really can't find great bullsh$t like this on any other college football message board. We're the best!
