  1. Another factor to look at in this discussion is student and alumni population. What is TSU's student enrollment? What percentage of their students live on or near campus? The other factor to look at is the number of alumni that TSU has, and the % of TSU alumni within driving distance of San Marcus. Also, what is TSU's season ticket sales this last year? What really makes us look bad is the number of our alumni who live in the metroplex and the embarrassingly low number of season ticket sales. Add to this the number of students enrolled at North Texas, who live on or within a mile of the campus, that leave to go somewhere else on game day.
  2. I would never want to go back to 1-AA, but we did have a better OCC record, and we had a better promotions man in the Athletic office.
  3. I don't understand how someone might think those are mutually exclusive concepts.
  4. I sorry, but is that a requirement.
  5. By "ground zero" do you mean the "Trinity site" in New Mexico? If so, you can only go there two times a year. It's open to the public one Saturday in April, and one Saturday in October. The entrance is located out in the middle of nowhere between Socorro and Carrizozo NM.
  6. On the well traveled roads maybe. But otherwise, the remainder of the roads are very hazardous. Assuming that any other roads DO melt today, they will re-freeze (and therefore be much more dangerous) shortly after the sun goes down. Black Ice is much more dangerous than the regular stuff. Just about 100% of the the schools in the immediate DFW area are closed today.
  7. and his record is against tougher opponents.....in a much tougher conference.
  8. Drove to downtown Fort Worth and back. On my front windshield, there were some spots that would freeze faster than the defroster could melt it. It's coming down pretty steady here in Northern Ft Worth/Tarrant county. I expect to hear that the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw ISD will be ending school early today. BTW last night, Kristine Kahanek predicted that it would be this bad.
  9. I've been hearing reports of moisture falling around Meacham Airport in North Fort Worth. I live about two miles north of that and so far nothing has fallen......except the temperature. How about the rest of the metroplex? Weatherwise, tell us what you're seeing out there.
  10. In my program for the LaLa game, he's listed as wearing #83.
  11. Maybe James Mitchell is a bit too light at 192, but our other FB, Kerona Henderson is 6' X 225.
  12. It's always a great day in college football when SMU and ND both lose.
  13. He was wearing #13 and he was playing QB. Their 2nd string QB wears #7.
  14. I was watching the "mop-up" portion of the Texas/Colo game. I thought that UT's THIRD STRING QB looked pretty impressive. (Shaking his head in disbelief) Sometimes I just can't stand it.
  15. Now if someone will just tell us that a DT like Michael Pruitt or Evan Cardwell has transferred to North Texas.........
  16. from how far out was he kicking?
  17. I've never seen a program bring in a Juco kicker (I'm sure someone will bring up an example ........however obscure it might be), but I've seen programs regularly replaced their kickers with walk-ons during spring practice. I'm more interested in bringing in an "impact" (double entendre intended) mid-term JUCO D-man...or two if possible. As well as some JUCO beef in the OL. I have no idea why we have someone on our roster that is listed as a 6'2" X 244 O-lineman. And while I'm at it, I don't know why we have a 5'11" X 267 O-lineman on or roster.
  18. I think this sentence bothered me more than anything in this whole debacle. NO season ticket holding fan (unless they have committed a crime) should EVER be WORRIED during a conversation with ANY athletic department official. Especially at North Texas. Let me remind everyone that WE ARE THE CUSTOMERS HERE. WE ARE THE ONES WHO WILL STILL BE COMING BACK TO ATHLETIC EVENTS LOOOOOONG AFTER MOST OF THOSE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES HAVE MOVED ON. What "I" would have expected to hear from RV was this..... "I've done some preliminary investigating in this matter and now I would like to hear from you on this". If I had heard anything different, I would have been totally pi$$ed. My next call would have been to either Dr. Pohl and/or Bobby Ray. If George Dunham thinks that STH is a "disease" then he must never have witnessed the real disease that, for years, turned that section of the stands into what I used to call "The Day of the Living Dead".
  19. 40 -28 (La. Tech) the final. La. Tech may go to a bowl game. http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n.../s220242S79.DTL
  20. Why is the head football coach's contract excluded from this new rule?
  21. and now..........do we have a M.G.R.N/gate situation brewing as described on KTCK 1310 "The Ticket" just days ago? Stay tuned!
  22. More like the spring or the NO bowl.
  23. A different opinion. http://www.ntdaily.com/vnews/display.v/ART...1/438eafe18dcf8
  24. Rice could still have football, just not D-1 football. I believe that all of the Ivy League schools maintain their "really college" atmosphere by playing 1-AA football. Rice could do the same.
