  1. When I graduated, they gave me the option of signing over some University fees that were to be returned to me, to be enrolled in the Exes. The Exes then collected the fees from the University. Do they not offer that option to graduates any longer?
  2. It could also explain why he was totally absent from the spring prospectus. I just thought it was incompetence on the part of the person writing the prospectus. It could be that he left at the request of the coaches. But it could also be a case of the player feeling that his position with the team was mis-represented during the recruitment process ie "come here kid and you'll be a starter".
  3. can you post a link?
  4. Maybe you can be the most infamous person out of Alvord.
  5. Who was it? Neal Wilson or Ronnie Gage?
  6. This is intended for Zeke. I was always told by my wife that Alvord's main claim to fame was an Actor named Guinn "Big Boy" Williams. This web-site says that he's actually from Decatur.......and he also attended North Texas. http://www.surfnetinc.com/chuck/bigboy.htm
  7. Supposedly, you can't dig down very far because of the water table. And that (supposedly) prevents the field from being lowered. It was also reported that TXDOT will be taking some of the property on the west side of Fouts (the whole parking lot) for I-35 expansion within the next 10 years. I'm not sure, but I think that that would render Fouts pretty useless as a stadium.
  8. Decatur High School....The Eagles. Colors, Blue and White. While attending DHS, the Eagles won three district championships and two bi-district championships. We lost both Regional games (played at Fouts) to Plano.
  9. Do you think the Eagle in that shirt looks too..... war-like
  10. Well, if North Texas and SMU both wear their "I didn't come here to lose" t-shirts under their uni's during their opening games, then the results could be encouraging enough for fans on both sides to come out in record numbers for the game at Fouts. Under the above mentioned circumstances.....sell-out and SRO. If not, then I tend to agree with LongJim and others......27.5K
  11. that'll work...
  12. And when you do, come over to the Greenbackers tent area to get warmly greeted, fed, and......hydrated.
  13. How about "Son-of-Silver"...
  14. I would be inclined to take the "payments" option. I would then look into how I could donate the portion that would have gone to taxes (about 1/3rd) to the stadium fund as a charitable contribution. I don't know if you can do that or not. I know hardly anything about tax law. But if you could, then 1/3rd of your winnings would then go to the stadium fund instead of the feds.
  15. In the movie Silverado (one of my favorites), execution was set at 10:00am.
  16. If your main criterion for success is being in the top 25, then one Fry's teams actually did appear in the top 25. I believe that it was in 77. As we have found out, people didn't come flocking to Fouts to see our "potential" dynamic duo last year. What gets people's attention is getting a win over a "noticable" opponent. Since you brought Fry up. The latest GGII post puts an even stronger light on the Tennessee win in 75. Fry was down to his third string QB. Instead of going up and taking an ass whipping and picking up the check, he (and his assistant coaches) devised an offense that UT had never seen, went up there to win.
  17. Wrestling? Were they all wrestlers in HS?
  18. Don't forget the name of the school........or their mascot. Am I to assume that you didn't interview for your first job?
  19. Have to agree with you and LongJim. Improved DL play last year would have been the difference in at least a couple of games......if not more. So my vote goes for Ike.
  20. ????????? ummmmmm......no. I just wondered why you suddenly seem to think that you have some great insights into the program, and into the behaviors/motivations of some of the long time (and long suffering) fans.
  21. A. I don't know what SEC treatment is. B. How is it that you have such great insight into what some of the "big name" people are demanding?
  22. In 71 we lost to Weber St (0-20) and to Akron (6-20). Yes, his last season (72) was 1-10. The following spring I remember reading an article in the Daily about graffiti. They finished up the story by giving some local examples. One of the examples was found written on the men's restroom wall in the large auditorium. According to the article, it was inspired by the previous football season. It read......."Despite popular belief, the Mean Green is NOT a social disease". It was also right after that season that there was a student referendum to drop football. The referendum failed. I was told that it didn't fail by much.
