  1. Have they forsaken Voertmans?
  2. Well, as I've said before, whenever I start making preparations to go to a Texas and/or Oklahoma game, my wife offers (as a more economical and time-effecient alternative) to beat me with barbed wire. Maybe being a North Texas fan is kind of like being Brother Silas (of the DaVinci code)
  3. A starter on one list. Missing from another. There are two possibilities here. Would any of us be surprised about either one?
  4. If you think my remark had anything to do with a short temper, then you're entirely too sensitive. But then, as I've found out.....so are some coaches.
  5. I've often wondered. Were they afraid of us......or what Hayden Fry might have been able to do with us.
  6. I always thought that the "red shoulder" or "red tail" Hawk would have made a more appropriate mascot for UNT since they are indigenous to the North Texas area. Warhawk? Can you imagine what those people who changed our mascot's name from Scrappy to "Eppy" would have thought about this? BTW, thanks again to those who "righted" that great wrong done to our mascot (changing it's name back to "Scrappy" after being given the effeminate name Eppy).
  7. Oh good! More cool stuff to put on our "when-hell-freezes-over" shopping list. ......
  8. Are you sure about the UT amount? Because unless my math is wrong, we could (in theory) get some 1-AA program to open at Fouts. And if we drew 16K reserved seats @ $18, we would make 288,000 just from the gate. If we did some decent promotions, we could get 18K to 20K and get $324,00 and $360,000 respectively (gross) from the gate.
  9. No, I got the attempt at sarcasm. But, for it to be more effective, you have to be making reference to two real and/or similar events. UTEP's movie was about a real event, "Necessary Roughness" was not. It was shot on our campus. They used our colors, but they didn't even use our real name in their fictional story (Glory Road was about a real event). How could we have blown that opportunity for publicity for our program (the point of the sarcasm), when there wasn't one in the first place.
  10. It was only shot on the North Texas campus. It wasn't about us.
  11. I don't remember seeing much of Tye Rexrode during the spring. Has he settled in at DE? To me, he's more LB size.
  12. I'd also get on the Athletic Dept's web-site and find out who is in charge of recruiting for your nephew's area. I would then send e-mail correspondence to him, and "cc" Rick V. on all of it. Can you give us a preview of your nephew? HS where he plays, position, height/weight and 40 time (if appropriate). Did he get any "all-district" honors?
  13. Jeff Traylor, Gilmer's head football coach and athletic director, could not be reached for comment. .........however, the sounds of celebration and shouts of " YES! YES! I've got a state championship for sure" could be heard coming from the coach's office.
  14. P.S. - We're still laughing about your 30-27 win over Oregon State in '95. Yeah I suppose that is funny, especially when you consider that the only other win we had that year was Idaho State 41-38.
  15. Shoot, we could buy a mid-sized utility trailer and attach a high end grill to it for much less than that.
  16. Well, first of all, not all of those seats would be $50.00. At least 5K or 6K would need to be student seating. So at the most, you would have 30K reserved seats X $50.00. The whole "sports culture" at North Texas would have to change before students would pay for a sporting event .......even a big time football event. Don't get me wrong. I'm all for that.
  17. You want me to explain the thought processes of the athletic administration at North Texas? I like you Jim, but not enough to give myself that kind of headache.
  18. You are sooooooooo suspicious. BTW what's the latest with your VW?
  19. We have to buy tickets to tailgate down in Austin?
  20. OK, I just have this to say. Oregon has got to have some great recruiters in order to talk anyone who is the least bit talented into playing for a team named the "Ducks". PLUS, wearing some butt-ugly uni's as part of the deal. As to the other issue......geeezzz guys, grow up.
  21. It's time to start planning for this fall's tailgating. I recently ordered this tailgating flagpole kit from Sam's. It's the best buy that I've found. http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate....t=5&item=149599 I would also recommend the cooler illustrated on this page for people who tailgate in a large group. It's available at most of the stores for about $149.00 http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?catg=4138 If anyone needs a North Texas Battle Flag, you can get one for a reasonable price from American Dream Flags, 817-221-5490. They'll ship it to you. If anyone else has any suggestions for tailgating products, please add to this thread. As mentioned in another thread, I've not given up on the idea of a group (hopefully a large one) of North Texas fans riding Amtrak down to the UT game. Let me know if you're interested. Unless you can get a ride back with someone right after the game, you'll end up staying two nights in Austin. It could be a lot of fun!
  22. Hmmmm, I guess this could compromise my "ride Amtrak to the game" idea. I haven't given up however. Anyone planning to stay two nights should consider it.
