.....and just how is that possible......... -
Where is it located? My wife and I love to shop at the World Market. Their beer selection is great. However, they still don't have my favorite "Roswell Alien Amber Ale".

"heavy sigh" Yes, call me archaic, but I much prefer the company of HUMANS......well, most of the time. And when I have conversations, I much prefer that the person that I'm talking to doesn't preface/punctate every one of their sentences with the word "like".....or "Ya know?".

* Harry, this would seem to imply that you believe that we are primarily a commuter school. ** It's my belief/opinion that this was the only expansion that we needed to do in Dallas County. From time to time we talk about and/or mention our raw student population growth at North Texas, and the great potential that it represents. I find it interesting that our average attendance at games is bascally the same now (mid-15K) as it was during the late 70's and mid-80's, when our student population was under 20K.

No offense, but I'd much rather hear about your assessment of your trip to Alaska.

If you're going to falsify information, more than likely you'd do it to make yourself look good.

Well, sadly, that's probably how a lot of non-UNT people look at our recent bowl trips. We made it because of our SBC record. A conference which a lot of people regard as 1-AA........ or provisional D-1.

Do NT officials continue to think Denton County newcomers will buy into all this with the 4'th largest university in Texas of which its on-campus football stadium cannot even compare to what their kids have at their own Texas high school football stadiums with all those venue's modern ammenities? I don't know what the officials (the ones above RV) are thinking about our venue. But every time I drive up 156 to Lake Ray Roberts, I pass within clear view of one of those new Texas High School venues.....Northwest High School stadium. All I can do is just shake my head, and try not to think what most of the HS recruits in this area are thinking when they're taken on a recruitment visit to North Texas. Let's see, HS venues that are probably far superior to Fouts. Southlake Stadium Northwest Stadium Birdville Stadium Denton ISD stadium Burleson ISD stadium.

http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/colleges/15109574.htm Breaking even more suited for BCS teams By WENDELL BARNHOUSE Star-Telegram Staff Writer College football's rich should get richer. A fifth Bowl Championship Series game debuts this season designed to increase access to the five conferences whose champions are not guaranteed a BCS spot. But if no team from those five leagues qualifies, the at-large bid will go to a team from the six conferences whose champions are guaranteed BCS bowls and lucrative paydays. The 12-game schedule and 6-6 win-loss records to qualify for non-BCS bowls also should favor the six major conferences -- Big 12, Big Ten, Big East, Atlantic Coast, Southeastern and Pac-10. "Yes, those six conferences have a bigger edge now," Mountain West commissioner Craig Thompson said. "It could hurt a team getting an at-large BCS bid because of schedule strength. But with the 12th game, I didn't think that the guaranteed conferences would play a bunch of games against the non-guaranteed leagues." The six conferences control a majority of the available bowl slots. And those leagues' middle-of-the-pack teams will have a better chance of qualifying for the postseason thanks to scheduling. Of the 65 teams in BCS conferences, 47 have scheduled a I-AA opponent. That means those teams only have to go 5-6 against I-A opponents -- and, conceivably, win only two conference games -- in order to reach the 6-6 record needed for bowl games. Most I-AA teams will play I-A opponents for a game guarantee between $200,000-$400,000. *With the six conferences controlling more than 80 percent of bowl revenue, there is money available to buy games against I-AA teams. "The guarantee conferences have always had an advantage because they've got more bowl agreements," WAC commissioner Karl Benson said. "That's a result of the marketplace, and I don't think that's going to change." On the other side of college football's scheduling issue, the five conferences without a BCS guarantee don't have as much revenue to spend on I-AA teams. Of the 50 teams in those five leagues, only 29 have scheduled a I-AA team. That means the 50 teams from the non-guarantee conferences face a bigger challenge in qualifying for a bowl. Also, a team from one of those conferences could finish with a 9-3 or 8-4 record but wind up not playing in a bowl while a 6-6 team from a guarantee conference receives a bowl bid. * And what was our price again? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Results of offseason critical to UNT in '06
SilverEagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
To me, all this means is that we will go back to winning SBC games, and not worry about the OCC games. This is unacceptable to me. -
My reflection of the '90 NT vs SMU game...
SilverEagle replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Didn't he start the SMU game as well? -
I seem to recall that they spray painted "SMU" on the columns at the entrance of the Administration building. I never heard that they painted to doors.

Beat Texas and our FIRST home game will be a sell-out......SRO as a matter of fact.
-
I wouldn't care if Tulsa had the #1 offense in the nation. Getting blown out at home (or anywhere else for that matter) is unacceptable.

You know, I'm getting kind of tired of us hoping for some "trickle-down" benefit from some conference shake-up. To me, it's like getting nothing but the left-overs at a meal. I like Got5onIts' attitude. It's the same mind set that Hayden Fry used to have. (Yes! I've mentioned Hayden Fry again. If all you young board members don't like it, you can kiss my lime-green back-side.) Hayden Fry never talked about trying to get into the WAC, he talked about getting into the SWC. I say we go to the B-12 and make an assertive presentation. I'd tell them that the Texas/OU game is only once a year. If we were in the B-12 conference, they would have more like 5 or 6 additional metroplex games to enhance their recruiting. I would point out that TCU's membership in the Mountain West has given that conference a multi-game presence in the Metroplex, and has the potential to erode one of the B-12's more fertile recruitment areas. I would also point out that SMU's CUSA membership has re-established CUSA presence. I would then tell them that we were going to make the same presentation to the B-East and the SEC....and any other conference that was forward thinking enough to listen.

Frito Pie and Chili Cheese Dogs? Sounds great (especially the Frito Pie), but I'm sure that whoever cleans up the stadium is less than excited about those items being added to the menu.
-
I sure hope so, because the fans have been "stealth attending" for quite some time.

During the spring, I didn't notice that Davenport was particulary fast. I'm a bit surprised that they're trying him at FB, since they didn't run him there during the spring. I noticed that James Thokey 6' X 215 (Dallas First Baptist Academy/Southern Nazarene College) is still on the roster. He told me that he transferred with the anticipation of playing safety, but that the coaching staff moved him to FB. That's where he played during the spring. I noticed that they assigned jersey #9 to Adam Burnett, DB Everman. I also noticed that Tim Patton was assigned jersey #52 and that Esteban Santiago was assigned jersey #77. Both are listed as DT's I also found it rather interesting that fresham recruit Chris Neal from Kaufman was assigned jersey #34 and listed as PLAYER. Is that a new position, or is it the coachs' pre-camp assessment. Hmmm, Joshua Maldonado made the team. Imagine that.

A big bag of nothing? You have got to be kidding. I wouldn't call James Mitchell, Devin Cox, and Evan Robertson a big bag of nothing.
-
Then don't lecture me about endowments. There's all sorts of endowments.....as SMU demonstrated.
-
Well duh! All endowments are private funds or gifts. Whether or not the endowment is at a private or public University....they're gifts. Private schools just have more sugar daddies to give to these endowments. I forget, what did SMU call the endowment fund that they used to pay athletes?

Well, all I can say is let's not disappoint this guy.
