Giving the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt on this situation. I seriously doubt that they would bring him in for just one year. If they did, then this guy must have some serious talent.

And BTW, if I hate anything, it's that term "haters". It's a cheap and lazy way to put someone on the defensive, and therefore derail a discussion/debate between people of diverse opinions. I would expect a Jr. High kid to use it to try and gain the upper hand in a debate, but not someone who is College educated. And that goes for everyone on this board!

And just how do you know this? I don't know what Hayden was told, and I certianly don't know what Coach Dickey was told. But I find it hard to believe that any coach would take the North Texas job with such tight restrictions. Coach Fry certainly came into a much more challenging situation than Coach Dickey did. Yet Dickey was the one griping about the situation, and Fry was the one organizing support groups and getting us excited about our program. And Deep is right, comparing the current bowl situation to the bowl system in the 70's is also (IMHO) absurd.

When Hayden Fry was hired, the football program had just dodged the bullet of a student referendum to END FOOTBALL. The previous coach had not only taken us through our worst year ever (1-10), but he was a terrible recruiter as well. The situation wasn't the "death penalty", but it was damn close. Hayden got students and alumni excited about North Texas football again, and he taught us to not have a inferiority complex. Hayden's first year was 5-5-1 and a share of the Missouri Valley conference title. Two years later, he beat Tennessee with his "third string QB"! I find it absurd that any comparison is being made between Coach Dickey and Coach Fry.

Just about every American generation has it's "signature" tragic event. For my grandparents, it was the stock market crash and the resulting depression. For my mother it was Dec 7th, 1941. For my generation it was the assassinations of the Kennedy's and Martin Luther King. The definition of "normal" has changed many times in American history.

My wife was getting ready for work and listening to KRLD. She called out to me that KRLD was reporting that a plane had flown into one of the towers. Speculation was that it was a small plane. I then turned on NBC (the Today show) and they had live coverage from a helicopter that was about 1/2 mile from the towers. As I watched the coverage I could see a flying object enter the right side of the screen. It continued on and hit the second tower. I couldn't believe my eyes, and hollered to my wife "Oh my God! Another plane hit the other tower! I was just sick.

Coach Dickey is going to do things his way. Keep in mind that in spite of his easy going manner, and self-depregating humor, he has an ego. How large is anyone's guess. But it is large enough that (IMHO) he's never going to give the appearance of making decisions based on fan's demands....especially clueless North Texas fans. I speculate about his statements this way because he couldn't possibly think that his cautious statements about giving Woody "more playing time" is going to fool any competent coach.

Great tailgating pics! Sweet pics of the L-29. plus just he dropped 200 gallons of Jet-A in the l-29. How much flying time does that buy you? I have never hung my feet out of a flying airplane. Next thing we are flying along and tap a cloud and I can feel the moisture of the cloud on my feet, it was a first for me to drag my feet though a cloud at 4000 agl. That is fantastic!

"Good Gosh, college kids have been sneaking alcohol into stadiums for years! Isn't this why the hip flask was invented?" I remember talking with an alumnus who attended North Texas during the 50's. He said that part of his gameday experience was being in the student section and, shortly after North Texas scored, he could smell the distinct odor of burbon wafting through the crowd.

It's B Jamario's numbers reflect the committment of the SMU defense to take him away from us. It was VERY evident that that was their plan. They basically lined up and said "you're going to have to beat us with someone besides Jamario". Our coaches finally got the message and started using Woody and Johnny Quinn more in the game plan.

It was moved to the Orange Parking lot. The GMG smoker was parked by the fence that separates the "Village" from the Orange lot, and the tents were set up just east of it.

It's been mentioned several times in other threads that our D seems to be back. I noticed that as well. So....THANKS COACH BLIEL!

Other than the win, the best news I've heard.

My wife is not so knowledgable (X's and O's), but she knows a good product when she sees one. She also loves my passion for my passion. Only now, she sees more pain than passion, which is why she offers to beat me with barbed wire just to get it over with quickly. She's such a humanitarian.

I'd like to know as well. I'd also like to know if our back-up RB's have gotten over the little dings that kept them out of practice the last week before the Texas game.
