  1. And they only did it once? Besides shirts, the design would be great to embrodier onto a black leather jacket. As a MGC member, I'd buy one of those before I'd buy one of those parkas that they sell to MGC members.
  2. And while we are on the subject of shirts. I've always wanted to produce a North Texas shirt using this classic Harley Davidson design. http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/l...ms_1941_7955059 My idea would be to put "North Texas" where the Harley-Davidson is, and "Mean Green" in place of "Motor Cycles".
  3. The "battle flag" has never been trademarked. I'm guessing that they are just putting the CLC hologram on it to justify the absurd price that they are charging for it. American Dream Flag will make you one for a much more reasonable price......and use more durable material in the process.
  4. You are correct about the primary point that I was making. However, I'm more than hopeful about winning. In fact, I will almost guarantee it. Coach Dodge is the kind of coach/teacher/mentor that instills tons of confidence in his players. This almost always leads to wins.....lots of them.
  5. Forget about the issue of X's and O's for a moment. The attitude change alone is just remarkable.........and greatly needed. For those young alumni/students who got tired of hearing us old timers go on and on about the Hayden Fry days. This is what we were talking about. The younger generation of NT alumni/students now has it's own Hayden Fry.........enjoy.
  6. The only change in the lyrics has been to reflect the change in our name in 1988. I believe that the original lyrics started off with "Let's give a cheer for North Texas State. This worked for decades, since we were called North Texas State Teachers college when the fight song was originally written. The last line used to go "N.....T.....S.....U...N-T-S-U Fight Fight Fight! I assume that prior to 1961, the chant on the last line was NTSC. I remember the original tune being more musically challenging than the one that's played today.
  7. I like her idea about ground/yard stakes with game day posters. And as to her statement about printing NT shirts in only green and white...........
  8. Ok, I get real tired of hearing this. Yes, the most common mascot of ALL of the four year colleges and Universities in the US, is the Eagle (74). However, there are only FOUR Eagle mascots amongst the 100+ D-1 colleges that play D-1 football. Boston College, Eastern Michigan, Southern Miss.....and us. I am very happy for us to continue to use Mean Green as our nickname. But amongst the schools that play football at the level (D-1) that 95% of the general public pay attention to, only FOUR are the Eagles. And since we are talking about traditions. Only two unique symbols/logos/mascots (whatever you want to call them) have ever been produced for this University. One of them is the flying worm, and the other is my avatar.....the original (and as far as I'm concerned, the only) Scrappy. I don't understand why they've been kicked to the curb by the University.
  9. Okay, North Texas officially achieved University status (and it's name change) on May 8th 1961, when Governor Price Daniel officially signed the bill into law. So, would a 1961 spring class ring have NTSC or NTSU on it?
  10. When I was a young lad living in Longview Texas ( during the 50's) the town (with less than 50k population) had a full bus service. As soon as everyone could afford a car (or two), bus service there went away. SE66, were those chartered train trips on the Santa Fe or were they on the T&P. BTW, such a chartered trip could happen again......... http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServe...96&ssid=137
  11. Gezzzz....thanks for that rather disturbing image.
  12. Perhaps we could recycle the SMU shirt from last year and substitute a goat for the Mustang.
  13. Glad to hear it. I live in the Eagle Mountain/Saginaw school district, and it's my understanding that they will be building another High School in the near/forseeable future. Tim Dautry is the athletic director (817-232-0880 X 279).
  14. Coach, are you still in the coaching business?
  15. One thing they could do is run the NT shuttle buses over to the station to pick up fans and shuttle them to the tailgating area.
  16. Since the game (as of right now) will start at 6:00pm, then a group could take AMTRAK up there on Friday night and return early Sunday morning.
  17. Then this will be the first serious challenge of Coach Dodge's teaching/coaching abilities. This is analogous to the old question of nature vs nurture when people debate why some kids turn out great and some do not. It'll be interesting to watch.
  18. Not exactly the *Exodus of players from some of the "name" schools that we were hoping for. * in keeping with the season
  19. Depending on where the station was in Denton, it definitely would help. I would also like to see a rail line coming out of Fort Worth and going to Denton. Right now, the closest thing we have is AMTRAK going from downtown FW to Oklahoma city. It travels over the rail line that goes through Haslett, Justin, Ponder, Krum, and Sanger before it stops in Gainesville on it's way to Okla City. BTW, one of the stops on this route is Norman Ok. http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServe...96&ssid=137
  20. Ever since Todd Dodge arrived at North Texas in December, Brandon Jackson has spent a lot of time talking about his new coach – frequently with people he doesn't even know. When was the last time that anyone ever heard of a player "talking up" the program to the general public. To me, this sort of attitude is worth as much as a win over a mid-major school.
  21. My strongest condolences to the family of your fellow fallen officer. "To Protect and Serve" is more than just a slogan, it's a commitment at the highest level. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
  22. If this doesn't work then nothing will.
  23. Yes, I believe that I can. I think that if HRC had suggested (which of course she did not) that Haliburton would be the perfect contractor to make her universal day-care-pre-school comment/suggestion come to fruition, then it would have caused every Republican out there to get very sexually aroused. at the thought of how much Haliburton would be screwing the general public......especially Dick Cheny.
