  1. I've never heard of T.D. Parks. I found a Terry Parks in the media guide that played in 59 and 60.
  2. I'll add to GEO's list. "P" John Pegues, 1974 James Perry, 1978,79,80. Steve Petcavage, 1976 "K" Tom Kelly, 1978 Paul Kerestine, 78, 79 David Kervin, 72, 73 Don King, 77, 78 Gary King, 73,75,76,77 David Kirk, 73,75 Larry Kuykendall, 73, 74
  3. I'm excited to see what the "DD recruited players" will do when they have a real motivator as a coach. That's the true test of how good a coach is......by motivating someone else's players.
  4. I gave Plumm a 1971 Yucca a couple of years ago. Jim, why don't you look in that one and see if the team (1970) was wearing white helmets. I seem to recall that they were. I seem to recall that North Texas wore white helmets up to the season that Hayden Fry took over. I believe that he started the solid green helmet tradition.
  5. Even though my avitar doesn't reflect it (but how else is the original Scrappy supposed to look?), I too am very excited about this new era.....or should I say a return to a previous era. You newer alums and students are about to get a taste of what it was like for those of us that attended North Texas during the Hayden Fry era. LOTS OF POSITIVE ATTITUDE FROM THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT LOTS OF EXCITEMENT FROM THE FOOTBALL TEAM LOTS OF EXCITEMENT FROM THE SPIRIT GROUPS AND LOTS OF I DIDN'T COME HERE TO LOSE............. FROM EVERYONE!
  6. Past experience AND he knows something.
  7. In light of last years "logogate", and what will soon turn out to be "NT-Stargate" (grab those hats from LIDs as fast as you can guys!), are any of us surprised at this? I'm certainly not.
  8. While this is true, the upbeat and positive attitude by Coach Dodge and his staff is just as curative. It's been a loooooong time since I've been this motivated by a coach and his vision for the program. As opposed to the bunker mentality of the previous eight years.
  9. Excellent point. Hollins was fast, but (IMHO) I've seen faster receivers at North Texas....Broderick McGrew is one example.
  10. I like the design, but it really needs to be on a T-shirt rather than a hat. You have to get up real close to see what it says. You can't tell at a glance from any sort of distance, who, or what, that hat represents. It's just my prejudice, but when it comes to sports team hats, they should have a clear, simple, and bold logo/lettering on it. There should be no doubt as to what the hat represents from someone viewing it across the street. This most recent LID's hat (made by Top of the World) should have the SOW on the back in Kelly green rather than white.
  11. I was going to post that I seem to remember that the best that J.T. Hollins ever did was 9.7 in the 100 yrd dash. This link http://www.texassports.com/mainpages/txr/s...alltime_mc.html shows that he ran a 9.67 at a track meet in 1974 when he was attending Ranger Jr. College. He must have transferred to NT that summer because he was the leading receiver in 1974 27/374/13.9. Does anyone know how a 9.67 in 100 yards translates into our current 100 meters?
  12. Milton was on the 78 squad, but left school for a couple of years. He came back around the time Corky was hired. Corky put him at nose tackle.
  13. I just want to know why "Top of the World" hat company is allowed to make this, when another supplier (who is a North Texas graduate) is not allowed. Pro Line worked up a kick-ass design for Greenstock, but the athletic department and the exes said no. BTW, the professional representative for pro-line said that if the University would approve the NT star design, they would sell the hell out of those caps.....and thus get the University's name out there even more.
  14. You don't have to live that far to not be able to get there by 6:00.
  15. If it's being run by non-UNT graduates, then wouldn't "North Texas Alumni Association" be a misnomer?
  16. .....and then you'll have to answer to the self-appointed school-spirit czar....Andy Blount. Are you sure you want to take that risk?.......
  17. You certainly can't deny that Joe Greene and (when he wasn't hurt) Brandon Kennedy were the two best....Cedric Hardman comes close. But since I always gravitate toward the underdog (and in this case the undersized), some of my favorites are.... Walter Chapman. About 5'11" X 240 and a big overachiever Rayford Cooks, a skinny 6'2" X 220 D-lineman who couldn't be blocked Ronnie Hickman, see above Rex Johnson, 6'1" X 230 nose tackle who absolutely couldn't be blocked. I too am fond of Evan Cardwell, and it would be a shame if he were ever left off any "favorites" list.
  18. Welcome caliuntfan. "Mirrors on the ceiling, The pink champagne on ice And Plumm said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device' And in the master's chambers, They gathered for the feast They stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax,' said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!"
  19. Pretty impressive review.
  20. Well, relatively speaking, the OU game is a "statement" game.....at least it is for me. What I'll be looking for is an "attitude statement". It's a given amongst experts that the greatest improvement that a college team makes is between the first and second game. So, in terms of winning a game, I see the SMU game as being our "statement" game.
  21. It may have been simpler times, but the Maurice McAdow's Marching Band certainly didn't play simpler music.
  22. If you mean Kenny Washington, the answer is.......no.
  23. Wow! I'm soooooo surprised to see that you commented about #5 on Rick's assessment .......... Quick quiz (for anyone) Who was the last QB of color that started a full season for North Texas.
  24. And BTW, this hat is being sold at "Lids", but it's being producted by "Top of the World" hat company.
