The real hire to watch - defensive coordinator

I don't know about him, but I'm pretty sick about it. -
I'm just glad that we didn't play Missouri this year.

DRUG COMPANYS There is a story in the ST http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/story/387562.html about former TCU and Kansas City Chief, Sherrill Headrick, who is battling cancer. In the story they talk about him being treated with Thalodimide, which was an anti-nausea drug in the late 50's. The drug was taken off the market because it caused birth defects. It's been sitting on the shelf since then, until they decided to try it on cancer tumors.....and it works very well. The cost? 4200.00 per month! Now, if pregnant women took it as an anti-nausea drug back in the 50's, how much could it have cost? They didn't have to develop the drug again. It has the same name, so it's the SAME DRUG! Now it's $4200.00 per month!?!? This just proves the old saying about how much we would be paying for aspirin if the drug companys were just now introducing it to the public. We'd be paying a lot.

Sounds fine to me. I would assume that that is where the money would go anyway. They already have very sharp regular uniforms, they just need equally sharp "hot weather" uni's. I refer you again to the Q&A on the web-site about uni's. The Band/school provides everything for their hot weather dress but the shorts. There must be a reason why the school leaves it to the student to provide their own khaki shorts. I don't know if it's cost, or if it is an issue of the hassle of providing shorts that fit correctly for some of the students.

OK, so this fall, after we've blown another 19 or 21 point lead, who's turn is it to jump up and yell "we're gettin' out-coached". I've already taken my turn.

"prejudice - n. 1. an unfavorable opinion or feeling formed beforehand or without knowledge, thought, or reason." This also sounds like the definition of phobia......except you would have irrational instead of unfavorable, and "fear" instead of feeling.

Maybe you're thinking of the policy of the school of music (and I don't know if it's still in place or not), that music education majors were required to be in the band for at least one semester. I suppose that you could interpret that as someone being forced to go to games. I don't know what the current policy is. However, if you read the Q&A on the web-site, they take try outs from the general student population. I don't know what the % is of music majors and non-music majors in the Band.

Detrion Woodson, was on the team from 96 to 99. I don't know what he played. It's a fact that when we look at someone, the first thing we notice is their sex, and the second thing we notice is the color of their skin. When people say they are color blind, I find it quietly amusing. What are you asking? That we comment on all your topic points? Let me put these numbers out there for you to consider. As of 2005 the percentage of African Americans in the US population was 12.8 %. What is the percentage of African Americans in the prison population? What is the percentage of African American children in foster care in Texas? I can answer that one....about 45 to 50%. I'm guessing that that's about the same percentage nation wide, and I'm willing to bet that it's about the same % as the prison population. Who makes the decisions about adults of color going to prison, and children of color, going into foster care? Are the decision makers predominately Black or White?

Dandy Don Meridith used to say that too.

18 Verbals Including The 3 Juco Spring Transfers !
SilverEagle replied to Dodge2007's topic in Mean Green Football
Does anyone know if there are some real special teams players amongst this group? I'm talking about return people that are not only fast, but players who love nothing better than getting the ball in their hands on a punt or KO, and then go tear-assing up field without the slightest hesitation...or regard for themselves. I'm talking about people like Sears Woods (32.6 yrds per KO return), Kim Phillips (31.5 yrds per KO return), Michael High (29yrds and 27.7 yrds per KO return), and my personal favorites Carlen Charleston (the KO leader all four years he played, 26.7, 18.6,17.9,19.4) and Brian Smith (24.7 yrds per KO) Brian Smith (#9 on your program) was the craziest return man I ever watched. I don't think I ever saw him make a fair catch. It was "Bonzai" every time he got his hands on the ball. Carlen Charleston (#42 on your program) was 5'5" and about 155 or 160 lbs at the most. But not only was he fast and very quick, he was absolutely fearless. Do we have anyone like these guys in the current crop of players coming in? -
I say seven wins. Coach Dodge has proven that his offense can move the ball.....a lot. All he'll be doing about the offense is making a few adjustments during the off season. That will give him plenty of time to review what went wrong with the anticipated strength of last years team ......that turned out to be anything but....

I'm all over that!

Twelve Mighty Orphans By Jim Dent
SilverEagle replied to GreenSquared's topic in Mean Green Football
With a name like "Twelve Mighty Orphans" and Hollywoods penchant for making "underdog" movies, I think it has a better than average chance of being a movie. -
I came across this while looking for what North Texas gear was available on the web. http://www.music.unt.edu/windstudies/march...ive_Members.htm A couple of years ago, they didn't have this. BTW, Could an administrator please change the title to GREEN BRIGADE.
-
Now, can you imagine that? A city that actively backs their University! I just never heard of such a thing. ...........
-
...and you will be doing business with a North Texas alumni as well.

Jerry World To Host Hogs And Ags For $5 Million Each
SilverEagle replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
God, I just hate reading "the rich get richer" stories.....especially in college football. -
The problem with CLC is that they really don't do anything for the University, other than provide another layer to go thru before a new product/idea is approved. I'm not sure why you think it would be more expensive for North Texas to self-license. They already have in-house attorneys who were pretty available to FFR when he sought to clear-up the issue of our battle flag being illegal. The problem in that situation was in-house staff at North Texas that had the pea-brained idea that our battle flag was illegal, and kept blocking (or trying to block) people/groups from producing it for sale by trying to say that the University would face the legal wrath of the state of Texas if we did. Even after FFR got an official ruling from the University Attorney that it WASN'T illegal, that same moron kept saying it was, and many people (and sadly many were decision makers) kept believing him. This is just one isolated incident that is representative of what has been a larger problem at North Texas....unimaginative, petty bureaucrats who's idea of making a decision is to block someone else's new idea(s).
-
Now, if we could only get about 5k more North Texas families in the metroplex that have the same reaction to a North Texas flag sighting, we will have something to build on........ MERRY CHRISTMAS!
-
CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU AND LERA! As my late (and sainted) mother-in-law said when we broke the news to her "Well, you're into it now!"......... Get ready for the word "spontaneous" to leave your vocabulary.

It's Evidently Official Lacroix Has Resigned
SilverEagle replied to OldTimer's topic in Mean Green Football
.....and as I said in a thread about the Navy game, surely Peterson (who coached the wishbone for years) would have been invaluable in preparing for Navy. But I have to wonder how much input he had in the game plan, since we seemed totally incapable of stopping it.....with two weeks to prepare. -
I'm all for us having as many overachievers on our squad as possible. We could use another JQ, or James Mitchell. My question is will he be eligible to play in the fall of 2008.

Besides the bad publicity of an experienced coach leaving our staff, we also lose an experienced recruiter. RM is not only inexperienced at coaching at the college level, he's also inexperienced at recruiting. -
Looks like he won't be here until the fall.
