But before we go. I do want to comment that this is the second time in very recent history (within the last three years or so) that an OL had a misdiagnosis on his knee. Do we have the same trainers/medical staff as when DD was here? If so, (and in light of this most recent snafu) someone in administration might want to look at this issue.

I think Perry was making reference to the mean spiritedness of some of the posts....which I totally agree with him as being too Baylorfanish. I've always taken pride in our sharp and keen sense of humor on this board. And I've always taken equal pride (and reveled in the irony) that we (a board of secular school graduates) are far more Christian in our words and attitudes than just about anyone on the Baylorfan board. But of late (IMHO) I think we're getting a bit too crude and boorish.

This whole thread (at least past the original post) is so....Craig Ferguson.........you naughty little monkeys!

Was Mean Joe Greene Highly Recruited Or Not?
SilverEagle replied to eulessismore's topic in Mean Green Football
He retired after playing for the Oakland Raiders for a few years. They extended his career by using him as a "passing down only" player. Kind of like Charles Haley with the Cowboys. I believe that he was one of the first to be used that way. -
Was Mean Joe Greene Highly Recruited Or Not?
SilverEagle replied to eulessismore's topic in Mean Green Football
THIS is what inspired Sydney Graham to start calling the defense "the Mean Green".....and the rest is history. -
Well, if they can't then we might as well stay at Fouts and hand out megaphones and binoculars to all the fans as they come in.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football On U N T's '08 Class
SilverEagle replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, since you're talking about guys from that era, then you do what UT eventually did with "Super" Bill Bradley......put him at safety. I think that turned out well for him. -
Would that be Marquese Davis, A.J. Penson, and possibly Scott Gilchrist and Bron Hager?

Well, considering what sort of size our WR's have historically been, this is amazing. Besides Kenny Barnett (6'4") and Forrest Rucker (6'5"), we have (as you've already pointed out) Sam Roberson (6'4") as well as Brock Stickler (6'3") and Sam Dibrell (6'2"). Before this group of receivers, the tallest receiver that I could remember at North Texas was Brodrick McGrew, who was about 6'3" or 6'4". Before that, our receivers averaged somewhere between 5'8" and 5'11".

And I hope that that happens very soon. I almost cried when I watched the story. His parents divorced last year. His mother had to deal with cancer, and then he had a knee injury in the playoffs. I am pulling very hard for this young man.

Here is the link to the Star-Telegram story about our recruiting class. http://www.star-telegram.com/college_sport...ory/459089.html Here is one of my favorite quotes. "DBs John Shorter and Royce Hill are polished punt returners."

Feeling? This is incredible. In the past, most athletes didn't talk about the feeling they got from a visit. The most they ever said was "it was a good fit". This is all about the atmosphere that Coach Dodge (and the assistants) are creating here.

Reporters have been taught to write an article as if the person reading it, is reading it for the first time. Our last season's record would therefore be a relevant piece of information. I hope that Mr. Jenkins is a quick study, since it doesn't look as if he will join the team until the beginning of fall practice. And (depending on how long it takes to get his grades posted) maybe not even then. We really needed both of these guys to be here this spring.

Troy, Middle Pulling Away In Rivals Rankings
SilverEagle replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
All this star rating is just off season BS for bored alumni. What really counts is how well our staff develops the players that we recruit......and how much character our new recruits have. Spring training can't get here soon enough so that I can see (with my binoculars of course ) how well the transfers from last year, and the current crop of walk-ons are developing. -
I hope someone puts together a highlight DVD of all the times that the Giants defense either sacked, hit, or generally harassed Brady during the game. Then I hope that DeLoach acquires the DVD and shows it to his defense, again, and again, and again........ Hell, I'll even buy the damn thing for him.

New Stadium - Anything Mentioned At Football Banquet?
SilverEagle replied to GreenMachine's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't remember any statements made at the banquet indicating that we had the funding. He did however openly address the subject of a new stadium, which he's never done on his own in the past. Usually someone has to directly ask a question about it, and put him on the spot. This time it seemed to be at the top of his agenda to talk about. -
There you go again. Introducing reason and logic into the discussion. After a while, you're going to really piss some people off.

Is this somehow related to the cryptic comment that KBJ made on another thread?

Osu's Plan For Increasing Season Ticket Sales
SilverEagle replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
Totally agree. -
Well, unless your conversation was with the Editor......... "And another question, why do you seem to feel as though you need to defend Vito. He's the media. He can print and say anything he likes, but with that can come consequences. Being able to run with a story, doesn't mean that the subject of your story won't hold you to it. As for future job opportunities and what that might hold - you don't know. That's the problem - no body knows. It is virtually impossible to defend yourself from a racist allegation in a technology society where nothing ever goes away." I defend him because I don't think he did anything wrong. Plus, this program needs all the professional respect that it can get. We get laughed at enough, and hammering a reporter for reporting news makes us look rather foolish....and petty. As to Coach Dodge's future job opportunities. I have never heard of a coach missing out on a job opportunity because some disgruntled player made baseless allegations about him. Let's be real here, the only thing that administrators of any D-1 school care about is "can this guy win at our school?" "One more thing, the quotes from Joseph Miller and Ronny Tipps were not part of the original Dallas Morning New article. That only appeared in the DRC." Well, they were in the first story that popped up when I "googled" the subject matter.....as you suggested someone might do in the future.

Just a bit of advise. You'll never be liked here for introducing logic.............

Well in this article, there were two character witnesses that were quoted. And Dodge was allowed to defend himself. http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dw...ow.332a83d.html The allegations came as a shock to UNT junior defensive lineman Joseph Miller, who is black, and several area coaches and athletic directors who have worked with Dodge over the years. Dodge spent the 2000-06 seasons at Southlake Carroll and won four state titles in his last five years at the school. "I heard about it this morning and was shocked," Miller said. "I have not been a victim of anything like that. Hopefully this will pass over." Southlake Carroll athletic director Ronnie Tipps said Dodge never had problems with minority athletes during his tenure at the school. "I am very surprised," Tipps said. "Coach Dodge and that staff are kid-centered. They care not just about winning, but making winners out of kids in life. That would be totally out of character for anyone on that staff, and I know most of them." Did you ignore that? It's been mentioned before, but let me remind everyone. Retractions are the Editors call, (I checked with a very reliable source on this) not the reporters. A reporter can write a follow-up story that completely exonerates and/or explains the situation, but it's the Editors call where to put it.....or even to write it at all! To suggest that this unfortunate situation will somehow hinder Todd Dodge's career is a bit......drama queenish. The only people I ever hear talking about it are people on this board who don't like Bret Vito, and will drum up anything to rationalize their irrational dislike for him. If you're so pissed about it, why don't you take Bret Vito aside and talk with him about it. A good time might be while you're walking out of the practice area (where you've been given full access to the coaches and players) and Bret (and maybe me) will be standing outside the practice area under the shade of some scrawny tree.

What's happened to Jonathan Stewart from Arlington? Has he fallen off the DL rotation list? I thought that Owusu-Hemeng was a LB. Kenneth Okonkwo (6'2" X 230) was listed as a DE last year. Is he still at that position? I also think that Marquis Sykes at (6'3" X 253) would seem to be better suited as a DE, rather than a LB. Is Kail Krider ever going to get into the rotation at DE? And finally, how is Charlie Brown developing as a DE? On last years program, he was listed as 6'4" X 239.
