Unt's Dodge Pushes For New Stadium In 2010
SilverEagle replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
Thanks, So while you seem very angry with apathetic and unappreciative students. You have clearly given a great example of the other problem.......the North Texas leadership........or the lack thereof. -
Chad, do you know what it would cost to park a trailer in the RV lot? We (my brother in law and me) are seriously considering it.

I second the Chesapeake idea. BTW, what ever happened regarding drilling on North Texas owned land. -
I know he was on a date, but he's representing the school......wear green for the interview. BTW, he looked kind of tired. BTW (2) Gina gestures too much.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! ...and now a word about sleep deprivation GET USED TO IT.

Well, well. Another late bloomer for North Texas. I seem to recall that we had another late bloomer at North Texas. As I recall, Cedric Hardeman transfered to North Texas as a safety, and blossomed into a 6'4" X 240lb DE who was all-conference and ended up on one All-American team. Here's hoping.

Unt's Dodge Pushes For New Stadium In 2010

You know Jim, I was afraid that you might make some vague generic post, where no one clearly understood where you might stand on the subject. And while I'll ignore the "parasite" comment (since I was a commuter myself), I will tend to agree with you about the general slacker mentality of a noticable portion of the student body. However, to put it in terms of parenting, a child grows up a slacker only because their parents do not set standards, and consistently stand behind (and enforce) those standards. The North Texas administration has traditionally been slack (and inconsistent) in their attitudes about athletics. When they did start taking bold action during the Hayden Fry days, they quickly retreated after he left. You've privately told a story that illustrates that attitude regarding our first 1-AA play-off game. And how it should have had a much different outcome, were it not for a lack of nerve and vision on the part of administrators. Care to share the story in print? -

This Week's Article: "the Ice Bowl"
SilverEagle replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
Totally agree with that. Jordan Case has always been my favorite QB at North Texas. For the younger generation (FFR et al ), think of Scott Hall with a better arm and better peripheral vision to pick out second, and third receivers whilst totally ignoring the rush. -
Unt's Dodge Pushes For New Stadium In 2010

"I've been told we'd open in 2010," Dodge said. "That's when I'm holding them to it. For this program to go where it needs to go, we've got to get a new stadium." Well, something is going to happen by 2010 (or sooner). Either North Texas is going to have a new stadium, or North Texas might be looking for a new coach......or AD. -
"what In The Wild World Of Sp[orts"
SilverEagle replied to Green Grenade II's topic in Mean Green Football
WOW, that sounds as unique as the North Texas yell that the cheerleaders have used for the last 20+ years..... GO NORTH TEXAS! GO NORTH TEXAS! GO! GO! -
I know that knee injuries are hard for any player, but is it harder for a OL to heal from a knee injury or does it take longer for a DL to heal. It seems like I see knee braces on O-Lineman rather frequently and rarely see them on D-Lineman.

"By the way, let me know the word to your school’s fight songs and alma maters. I’ll decide the winner(s). No prizes will be awarded but the “victors” will be recognized in this very space in a future issue. Oh, no, not that Appalachian State reference again. Also, is it true that Boone, North Carolina was named after Pat Boone? Ok, just kidding. However, some examples of school songs might be “Hail-o-Hail TCU”…or “Varsity” from SMU…or “Glory to the Green” from North Texas." At the risk of sounding too pickey, "Glory to the Green and White" is our alma mater, not our fight song. BTW, what is the name of our fight song? Is it "North Texas Fight"? -
Well, he's not on this official roster. http://www.meangreensports.com/SportSelect...&SPSID=9053 but neither are any of these guys.. Brett Vito E-mail News tips I managed to get an advance copy of North Texas fall roster today. Here are a couple of interesting tidbits I picked up from the list. I am not sure if this has been mentioned already, but UNT will gray shirt Southlake Carroll offensive lineman Nick Leppo. The Dragons' starting center suffered an injury last year and will gray shirt this season. Leppo will take less than a full class schedule in the fall and officially join the team at the semester break when a scholarship opens up. He is not on the fall roster. A few interesting names came up as walk-ons. Sterling Carter will walk on and is listed as a defensive lineman. I have no confirmation of this, but my guess is this is the lineman who played for Houston Strake Jesuit last season and never signed. Scout.com had him listed at 6-3, 265. There is an offensive lineman named Dan Holt on the roster that I am betting is a transfer from Midwestern State who played at McKinney North. Holt was listed at 6-5, 300, all the way back in high school. And now for what you all really wanted to know. All the key players who were at one point or another were rumored to have left the team are still on the roster, with the exception of those we already know about - defensive ends Eddrick Gilmore and Alonzo Horton. Robbie Gordon is also back on the roster. Of course there is still some time left until the end of summer school, but UNT head coach Todd Dodge said he does not expect any more players to fall short academically. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have to agree with both Jack and Jeff. I agree with Jack, that we should personally go around Denton and ask the people of Denton to join us at athletic events. We should have in our possession some flyers (with lots of pictures of tailgating on it) about season tickets and/or promotional deals that the athletic department already has in place. We should also have schedules and yard signs. If someone is seriously interested in attending games, we should ask them if we could put a yard sign in their yard. I agree with Jeff that ticket give aways generally don't work with our fan base. Besides, it tends to send the message that the product is not worth much. Besides, if gas prices remain as high as they are now, selling something local wouldn't/shouldn't be all that hard.

This is just an example of how clueless the administration is about North Texas and it's fan base. We don't have enough high dollar donors for Mandy (or anyone else) to be asking that sort of question. A NORTH TEXAS GRADUATE IN THAT POSITION WOULD REALIZE THAT BASIC CONCEPT AND WOULD HAVE TREATED ANYONE WEARING GREEN (which Mandy rarely does) WHO MADE THE EFFORT TO GET TO NORMAN, AS IF THEY WERE THEIR FAVORITE RICH AUNT OR UNCLE. But (in his best John Belushi-rant voice)NOOOOOOOOO, we had to hire someone who is absolutely clueless about the North Texas fan base, and absolutely insensitive regarding customer service and marketing. After one year on the job, Mandy should have known who the high rollers were, and (as I said earlier) she should be welcoming everyone who shows up wearing green. And what the hell was she doing coming over to your tailgating tent and asking about your donor level? I would have smiled and said "Mandy, it's your job to know that already. However, I'll tell you my donor level, if you tell how much you weigh, and what your bra size is".

....and our current administration.......especially when it comes to scientific infomation...........as well as "there are no WMD's" information.
-
Too old.....besides, I'd get kicked off the team for being too obnoxious to the coaches..........

Can I assume at this point that the two O-Linemen from Mississippi are going to report to camp? I seem to recall that they had some academic issues to take care of before getting here.

What You Get For $14 Million Dollars!
SilverEagle replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
This one is just down the road from fouts, and it looks like it might have twice the capacity of Midlothian stadium. I don't know how much it cost, but when I was attending Decatur HS (60's), Northwest was playing in what looked like a cow pasture with bleachers on either side. Now look. http://www.texasbob.com/stadium/stadium.php?id=299 -
Actually we've been D-1 since we joined the Missouri Valley Conference in the 50's. We just had an unfortunate absence for about 12 years.
-
Does this free up a ship or two? If so, maybe that O-lineman from Aledo who is walking on can get a ship sooner than he expected. I wonder how he's doing in summer work-outs?

GEEZE LOUISE! For a stadium sponsor to be found, we need to have a significant turnaround from last season. The defense was/is going to be the center of that tuirnaround. Gillmore and Horton were being counted on to help make that defensive turnaround happen. Well, we are certainly going to find out what sort of character our current players, and coaches, have....

Here is the information that I've been looking for. It was in an article published today. Oil production cost Here's what the price of a barrel of oil needs to be for different sources of petroleum to be profitably extracted: - Accessible land: $19 - Shallow water: $20-60 - Deep water: $60 - Shale mining: $30-50 - Oil sands: $50-60 Current price per barrel: $145 Sources: U.S. Govt. CERA, Rand, EnCana I've seen statements that our shale oil reserves are somewhere in the neighborhood of 400 years at current consumption. I have also seen it stated that if the national speed limit was moved back to 55, we would consume 27% less oil. -
