His sort of optimism is from the Hayden Fry era. That's the same sort of optimism that got us a win over Tennessee (at their homecoming) with a third string QB starting for us. I like it!

Those sound like the kind of innovative projects that someone could apply for Federal grant money to help fund.

The actual location hasn't been determined. It was stated in another article that the final decision would be made Wednesday. Texas Stadium and Atlanta were mentioned as very possible options.

While his tone was kind (unusual for previous ST reporters who were assigned to us) he didn't give me any sort of insight, or information that I didn't already know. To me, everyone who is calling for Vito's head reminds me of people these days (mostly young people) who throw out the words "Hate and "Mean" to someone who is mearly offering criticism....constructive or otherwise. They would be the same person who expected some sort of trophy for "participating" on their soccer team......otherwise their rather fragile self-esteem would be damaged......... geezz gimmie a break.... And BTW, I find the SLC North comment rather accurate. Especially right after we copied the SLC uni's almost down to the last detail.

I'm torn about this article. I think it has the potential to energize the anti-stadium crowd as much as the pro crowd. Especially in light of the economic news that came out yesterday. However, it's good to show the alumni in the area how serious NT is about athletics....and this project.

Make it a low rider. Every time we score a TD, it can hop and jump around on the track.

Ok, this one is very funny (my wife gave me permission to laugh at it), because my son has an ex-girlfriend that we BOTH would like to set on fire.

This is a great school. Having great expectations is not whining.

When I hear statements like that I think of this dialogue between Burt Lancaster and Katherine Hepburn in the move "The Rainmaker" Lizzie: I got nothing to believe in. Starbuck: You're a woman. Believe in that. Lizzie: How can I, when nobody else will? Starbuck: You got to believe it first. ......if we (students, alumni, administration and coaching staff) don't believe that we are going to go out and win every game that we show up for, then we probably never will.

You know, I think someone needs to attend next weeks TD show and ask him if he can explain that one. I would love to see his reaction and hear his explaination.......

I hate to keep bringing this up but.......... Let's give a cheer for U of NT! Cheer for the green and white. Victory's in store whate'er the score. Our team will ever fight. Fight, fight, fight! Shoulder to shoulder we march along, striving for vic-tor-y. Playing the game for the honor and fame and glory of UNT! U.....N.....T Eagles! UNT Eagles! Fight, fight, fight! Between DD's way of approaching OCC games, and now what appears to be TD's way of approaching OCC games, maybe the words to the fight song need to be revised........

I think that a new stadium's immediate impact would be (as Drex said) getting our body bag games moved to Denton. Here's my historic perspective about Fouts....and about SMU as well. A friend of mine, who attended one semester at NT (before transferring to UT) commented that he thought that Fouts was built to be a large track venue, as much as it was a football venue. When it was built, North Texas was experiencing a lot of Football success, but they were just as well known for their track teams. Having said that, I still don't understand why the stands were built at such a low angle. UT used to have a track around their stadium, and their sight lines were much better. Back when we re-entered D-1, the only thing that we could do to bring NT up to the capacity standards of D-1 football of the mid-90's (when we re-entered D-1) was to add all those crappy metal stands on either end of the field.....outside the track. Those metal stands are what makes the "we-don't-fill-up-Fouts-so-why-should-we-get-a-new-and-larger-stadium" argument by the anti-stadium people mostly invalid. But we won't know for sure until we build a new stadium. IMHO, if Ford stadium at been built at North Texas instead of SMU, our average attendance numbers for the last 8 years or so would be much different. Comparing us to SMU is not a good comparison. Even during SMU's last SWC championship run, they didn't have very good attendance numbers. The thing about us and SMU is this. SMU has a past winning tradition that football fans find attractive, but because SMU is so unreachable (socially and academically) for most people in Dallas county (and surrounding areas) people don't identify with SMU. Most people in this region could easily identify with North Texas, but they are turned off by the lack of winning, and the lack of committment to winning by the administration at North Texas. Plus we have a crappy stadium/venue. Who in hell would want to go and sit in those crappy metal stands? Besides getting cooked on a sunny day early in the season, the sight lines are absolutely abysmal. Those stands only get filled when we get the rare OCC opponent (Baylor, Navy) to come to Fouts and they bring their VERY LOYAL fans. The only other time that they get filled is when we've had a late season championship game, such as NMSU in 02, or Ark St. in 03, and the weather is more tolerable. I feel very sorry for those people sitting in the metal stands this time of the year. We need a new Football venue. But it won't do us much good if the administration (and alumni) don't work just as hard on changing the Football culture at North Texas.

I was listening to the game, and was furious that with 15 seconds left in the game, and with KS ahead 42-6, they were throwing into the endzone.

I believe that I (as well as others) were saying "where's the beef?" during this last recruitment season when everyone else on this board was salavating over WR and DB committments. Granted, we have better play from our DB's, but a lot of recruitment energy was spent recruiting WR's (and DB's), when our only TD last night was scored by a WALK-ON WR. And yes, we got some beef from our Juco players from Mississippi. But after they arrived, it turned out to be more blubber than beef.

Well, the last time we beat KS, and were competitive with B-12(8) schools was when we were 1-AA.

He's still too high on the #'s of tackles list, although our LB's dominated that list......which is a very good sign. For too many years our DB's have led in the number of tackles catagory. We need to have our DL move up in that catagory. Our QB only got sacked once.....which is a big improvement over last year.....especially with a O-Line that's been cobbled together in the last few weeks. However, the most glaring stat (to me anyway) is the big "0" on the stats for the number of sacks that our D had. In fact, during the broadcast, I don't remember hearing GD mention that the KS QB was being hurried or harassed by our DL. THIS HAS TO TURN AROUND VERY QUICKLY! Does anyone know how mobile the Tulsa QB is?
