  1. 1. If this guy can't even take care of his family (including his brother who lives in squalor in Africa), how can we expect him to do what's right for America? Do you seek out all of your relatives, no matter how distant they are, and inquire about their financial well-being? Just because there is a blood relationship doesn't mean there is a real relationship. You (and others) totally ignore his trip to see his ailing grandmother during one of the most important times of the campain.....convenient oversight on everyone's part. 2. How can we expect him to uphold the law when as a U.S. Senator he has relatives living in America illegally? Did you ignore the part where they said he DIDN'T KNOW SHE WAS IN THE US, NOR DID HE KNOW HER STATUS? And, of course, this was ignored too.. House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers has written to Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff requesting an immediate investigation of the leak, which he deemed "deplorable" and said "was not the first leak of law enforcement information apparently designed to influence the coming presidential election. As well as this from the NY Times. An Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman, Kelly A. Nantel, said the agency’s inspector general and office of professional responsibility were looking into whether there was a violation of confidentiality policy. The way I read that, even if Obama HAD tried to inquire about her status, it would have been illegal for the agency to share the information with him. And then all of you lovers of Alfred E. Neuman would be hollering about that.
  2. Well, what can I say...............the Scrappy-dude abids.
  3. Totally agree. If we are on a three game winning streak when Ark St. comes to town, maybe then will I consider that TD is finally learning how to be a D-1 coach............and not a pompous micro-managing HS coach..........with a High School system. I saw Seidle out there playing TE (or was it some sort of H-back position). Is this a glimer of hope that the "system" might be getting adjusted?
  4. Fry has stated in his book that he left because he believed that North Texas would never be invited to a bowl game, and we probably never would be invited to join the SWC. The fans were coming, but just not fast enough for him. This is pure speculation on my part, but I believe that the other factors were better salaries for him and his assistants at Iowa, a built in yearly chance at going to bowl games, plus he didn't have to constantly fight with a stingy administration who had no real vision about how to run a D-1 program. Now, as to this business about a new stadium. How in hell does that factor into TD's ability to prepare his team for a D-1 game and get players ready to win? There is a long line of coaches that have come here and WON MORE GAMES THAN DODGE IN OUR CURRENT CRAPPY FACILITIES..................MAKE THAT CRAPPIER FACILITIES. TD had better learn a different way of being a head coach. If what I'm hearing about his style (total micro-managing) is true, he will fail miserably.
  5. Oh, I don't know about that. I think that Barry Goldwater was pretty much the person that he presented himself to be.
  6. Well, I expect us to be SBC champions again....and beyond. Like Adler has said many times this is a GREAT UNIVERSITY. There is no reason why we can't be regularly in the top 20.....if not higher. We were once nationally ranked with a LOT LESS in the way of resources committed to the program. But this can't happen with just a football team full of great potential. We need ADMINISTRATORS AND ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT STAFF TO HAVE THE SAME ATTITUDE.
  7. Unlike every voter who's been frightened into voting for Alfred e. Newman for the last two elections, I plan on doing just that THINKING BEFORE I VOTE.
  8. They probably do worse to Rick than what he puts on here. And the worst thing that Rick could do is start telling them to kiss his a_ _. If you're a Fireman you better be able to take it. And showing any sort of reaction and/or anger would only increase the harassment.
  9. I'm glad you posted the info about the speed of the JC WR., because IMHO he would at least have to be that fast to justify spending a ship on him. I would also hope that he is a fearless kick returner in the mold of #14 from Troy.
  10. The REAL SCRAPPY approves this message.
  11. Rudy, you're not scaring the waitresses again are you?......
  12. It's the one and only SCRAPPY! With LOTS OF ATTITUDE at no extra charge.
  13. ....OR, you can always get them to come to you! ...........
  14. You're right....that was FUNNY!
  15. wacked out conspiracy theory? I have merely pointed out the gross inconsistency in TD's statements vs his behavior, and speculated that he was trolling for former players. I'm not any more of a DD fan than I am a TD fan. I just want all of the players treated fairly. I don't consider the man evil at all. Just petty and vindictive.
  16. But he said that he didn't think there was a drug problem on the team. If he didn't think there was a drug problem, then why ask for the test in the first place?
  17. Are all of you people overlooking this essential bit of information in the article? "Fifteen University of North Texas football players failed a drug test conducted this fall at the request of head coach Todd Dodge, according to documents obtained by the Denton Record-Chronicle through the Freedom of Information Act." If Coach Dodge didn't think there was a drug problem on the team, then why the hell did he request the tests in the first place? My guess? He was fishing (actually trolling). He hoped that some of the players (recruited by DD) that he didn't like would come up positive, and then he could boot them off the team. From my viewpoint, this has backfired on him. Because who is the only player that has left the team during this timeframe? "The NCAA tested 20 UNT players on Sept. 30. (three days after the Rice game) The university has not yet received the results of those tests, according to information provided by UNT." Is the NCAA testing the same 15 players, plus five others? Or is this in addition to the original 15?
  18. Since RF left, I thought it was very unnecessary. But they obviously knew that that day would eventually come with me and the new coaching staff................and sooner than even I expected.
  19. Then do as I do.....start heckling. You have my permission to use my signature "we're getting out-coached" heckle.
  20. Come on Lord Dodge, set that huge ego aside. FIND A PLACE FOR DANIEL OUT ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD.
  21. 1. It's my understanding that the GB is 50/50 music majors (mostly music education majors) and volunteers from the student body. 2. While I was waiting for FFR to finish talking with Darrell Daniels (out on the field) I walked over and let the GB director know that the Troy pep band made a bigger sound than they did. He responded that it was because of favorable accoustics because of where they were sitting. I didn't accept that explaination as the Troy band was sitting in the same concrete stands as the GB. He thanked me for my input (in a very dismissive way) and quickly walked away. As a parting shot, I also informed him that the Troy pep band OUT SPIRITED the GB as well. 3. Someone can correct me on this (GG II or Letsgiveacheer), but I believe that in the "old days", I think that even Lab band students were required to spend at least one semester in the Marching Band. Which probably explained why any Maurice McAdow Marching band could play circles around any of the GB bands starting about the late 70's thru now.
  22. I really don't care where you let Daniel Play (although QB would make the most sense).........JUST LET HIM PLAY! He has offered to play special teams or receiver. I don't know what he did (other than set a NT single game passing record) to piss Lord Dodge off so bad, but it's time to set someone's HUGE EGO aside AND LET DANIEL OUT ON THE FIELD. AND THE SAME GOES FOR CHAD ROSE.
  23. OK, so what? The combined student population of Rice and Tulsa would barely be over 6K.
  24. Another GREAT SYMBOL that was created by a GRADUATE OF THIS UNIVERSITY. Of course, what drex is too professional to mention is how some of the small minded bureaucrats at the University tried for years to quash the use of the flag by claiming that it was an unlawful representation of the Texas flag. This pea brained mind-set lasted even into the new century when FFR and I were in a meeting with AD staff (in 2004) to discuss some gear that we were going to produce. We showed a battle flag that we had had made (by American Dream Flags) and one of the AD's staff immediately said "well, I can tell you the first thing that is wrong this this....it's against the law to produce it". Rick had already checked with the University's Attorney who said that THERE WAS NO SUCH LAW ON THE BOOKS. Rick set the record straight and the meeting went on. But I'd be willing to bet that the same pea brained bureaucrat (even though he has been told the real story) is still telling University staff and spirit groups that the flag cannot be produced because it violates Texas law.
  25. There are LOTS of up-and-coming coaches out there who would love to have the opportunity to coach at North Texas. And most of them would not see the current salary structure as a problem. When Hayden Fry left, Jerry Moore (who was a promising assistant on the Nebraska staff) applied for the job. I wasn't impressed with him at all. But now, in looking back at his 11-11 two year record, I have to say that I am real sorry for all the unkind things I said about him. Corky Nelson, was the DC for the Baylor team that went to the Cotton Bowl. If NT was such an undesirable option, then he would have stayed at Baylor and applied for a Head Coaching job somewhere else. I don't mind us being a stepping stone for coaches, as long as we identify and hire the talented ones who are on thier way up. All you have to do is always keep your eyes open for the next "up-and-coming" coach in anticipation that your current coach will get hired away from you. This is what Boise has done, and it seems to work well for them. Is the administration at Boise smarter than ours?
