  1. Wow! what a great assessment of several games from our last two seasons.
  2. You're lucky they weren't staring at you to assess you as their newest potential source of sexual gratification..........or were they? Something to think about during quiet moments.
  3. Child care and feeding poor children (who are amongst the most poor) is money well spend. We MUST support the future foundation of our society. Otherwise we better all find a nice gated (with the latest security measures) to live in. No, Amtrak has never turned a profit, but then, passenger service was never profitable when the private sector ran it. However, they do a fantastic job considering that they don't own their own tracks and must run their schedule around the various freight schedules that they share a track with. Actually they must always yeild to the frieght traffic. BTW, the airline industry is subsidized as well.
  4. Well, I have to say that if you are going to be a shill, be a shill for a group that can (potentially) pay you well.
  5. Actually Cheney sucks. Bush isn't smart enough to totally orchestrate this mess.
  6. He's a brilliant British cross-dressing comedian/actor. Now, don't you feel special?
  7. The current economic situation is not of his doing? Please tell me how long it takes for something like this to get started, and how long someone can ignore it before someone has to take responsibility for it. If you don't think Bush is in any way responsible for this mess, then I see little point in electing any President. To compare the $500 Billion in wasted money plus all the bad diplomacy and hatred that it's bought America, to an overinflated stimulus package is to me absolutely absurd. If Bush and his chicken hawk war mongers had spent even half of that $500 Billion in infrastructure projects INSTEAD of sending the Army to do a CIA/FBI mission, not to mention the absurd waste of money that creating homeland security has cost us, our mess wouldn't be nearly as big.
  8. Weellll, I do believe that the W DID go on national TV right after the 9-11 attack and tell the American people that the best thing they could do for their country is go out and shop, shop, shop. He then went back with his advisors (make that handlers/puppetmasters) so they could plan the best way to waste 10 billion per month by attacking the wrong country.
  9. Well said. After watching, as you so aptly put it, this train wreck (or multiple train wrecks) called our football program for over 30 years, I've come to blame the administration as much as anyone. I've never seen so many brain farts by so many highly educated people since......well.......damn! not even the Government has been this inept.
  10. Let me be clear about how I stand on this situation. Please read my whole presentation, and please do not cherry pick words that you think prove your contention that I/we are all being negative and "picking on Riley". In this situation, I do not blame Riley, I blame his dad Coach Dodge. Riley is going to try as hard as he can to do the best job of competing for the starting QB position. It is my feeling/belief that Coach Dodge will not judge the competition fairly. It is my feeling/belief that Coach Dodge always intended for his son to be the starter at the QB position, regardless of what anyone did. And I have no quotes from him, nor have I talked to him, but I also feel/believe that this is one of the main reasons that GV left the program. I believe that GV saw himself eventually suffering the same fate as Daniel Meager. And so he decided to take matters into his own hands and leave the program rather than be sent to the bench.....and given the silent treatment like Daniel got.
  11. MON was Monster. A hybrid of LB and Safety. Maybe Gmoney can explain the allignment.
  12. Despite the fact that your moniker is a reminder (to me anyway) of an unfortunate chapter in North Texas history (the emasculation of Scrappy by changing his name to Eppy), I'll miss your participation on the board as well. BTW, thanks again to Stebo and his group for righting this great wrong.
  13. That was the second game of that season (Alcorn being the first) and we won it 38-6.
  14. I suppose that anyone who is not wearing #11 would be considered an underdog. But Tune at least got on the field during the regular season, my adopted player did not.....except for the charity series in the last game.
  15. Eligibility wise, this season (it's 09 and we should be talking about this season, not next year) will be his Junior year. Last season was his sophomore year. I am so happy that Baine will be given a shot at QB. It gives me an underdog to support.
  16. How many were starters, and how many were on track to break records at A$M?
  17. Well, if he's looking for work, you've certainly written an impressive resume for him.....
  18. And an Alien Ale goes to MG Insurance Pro and Island Eagle. The Pertile brothers (Cory and Fred) is correct. They played from 97 to 2000. Island, I went to High School with the Hachtel twins (they were identical twins btw). Actually, when they came out of High School Glenn went to North Texas and Lynn went to SMU...on a ship of course. Lynn later transferred to North Texas but never played, and I'm not sure why unless his old knee injury kept coming back. Glenn went on to start for three years at LB. Glenn died of cancer a few years ago. He was coaching at a school in Denton at the time. The Hatchel twins puts me in mind of how coaches used to have to coach...especially with limited resources. When the twins started playing football in Jr High, Lynn played QB and Glenn played FB. When they got into HS they were both playing RB and LB. At the end of their Jr. year they both had knee injuries that needed pretty extensive re-hab. The coach (Bill Davis) assessed that Glenn's injury prevented him from taking the constant pounding at FB, so he had him slotted to play guard and LB. Lynn could continue playing RB and LB. Coach Davis put a former all-district guard at FB, and the starting QB from the previous JV team started at QB. This worked for only one game. The coach then ask Glynn if he wanted to give it a try at QB (Glynn was an outstanding all-around athlete), and at the same time the starting TE asked to be given a shot at FB. Well this combination proved to be a winner. Glynn acclaimated himself to the QB role (including becoming an outstanding passer) the TE turned out to be our version of former Cowboy Don Perkins (always good for two or three yards), and all was well until our WB went down in the second game. Well, Coach Davis then inserted the other all-district guard at WB and he turned out to be one of the best pass catchers in the backfield.....besides the fact that he was an outstanding blocker. So Decatur wins district with a QB that had never played the position before, a FB that had never played the position before, and a WB that had never played the postion before. All of them ended up being all-district (or honorable mention) at their positions. This combination worked very well until the second round of the play-offs when we (once again) faced Plano. Corkey Nelson did similar things when he was a coach. When he was the Head Coach at Tyler he moved his starting LB (Earl Campbell) to RB. His most notable position move at North Texas was to take a JC linebacker and put him at nose tackle. Rex Johnson ended up becoming an all-american at that position. This spring our current coaching staff needs to do some similar assessment/re-evaluation with the current pool of players....starting with QB.
  19. Since we are talking about brothers, here is a trivia question. The first one with the correct answer gets a genuine Alien Ale at the first tailgating session this year......that I attend of course. When was the last time North Texas had brothers starting for us on the football team?
  20. I will second the BINGO by Green P1 and add this. We are in greater danger of being harmed by domestic terrorist than by any foreign threat. Every child that grows up neglected (first by their parents and then by society) will grow up to do you more potential harm than anyone with a middle eastern/Muslim background. You want to make American safer? Go out and regularly do an act of kindness for a poor child and it's family.
  21. And now we need some equally good news about the D-line coaching hire. We need someone at least as good as former NT Coach Bugar coaching the D-Line. Otherwise we've just signed a bunch of potential.....and you know what Dandy Don Meredith used to say about potential.
  22. Isn't this his junior year (eligibility wise) coming up?
  23. We played Auburn in 1981 when Bob Tyler was the Coach. We lost the game ( ) 0-20. I don't remember reading anything about us forgetting our jerseys, but it wouldn't surprise me. Perhaps that's why we only lost 0-20. The Auburn players couldn't concentrate for laughing at us so hard.
  24. And I especially like your logo.....on the chest of Scrappy.....the real Scrappy.
  25. Send him this link about former Penn State All-American Mike Reid. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Reid_(football) BTW, Deep. That Scrappy seems to get a better look about him every time you post.
