  1. A few years ago, I found some satin baseball jackets on clearance (on-line). I took the black one to a shop that does embroidery work and they came up with a modified version of this.....
  2. I agree with that.
  3. I guess it all depends on how you look at it. Focusing on catching the ball or focusing on the anticipated hit.
  4. My wife watched the game with me last night (a rare occasion). And as Aune threw the ball right into a field of several blue clad shirts (hitting one of them perfectly) I said, "this is the guy that is passing up his last year of eligibility to be in the NFL". My wife gave me one of her patented looks of disbelief and said, "then that guy is pretty delusional".
  5. You know, long ago the "experts" came up with a term that describes the situation "Alligator Arms". It's not a thought process, it's a subconscious reaction. BTW, I didn't coin the term. I just observe it from time to time. The term I always use for a WR that is oblivious to consequences is "he made the catch whilst wearing the DB....or two".
  6. A lack of execution is not getting in position to get the ball in your hands. Dropping or not holding on is a lack of will.
  7. Coach Morris has to be more of a motivational speaker than a salesman. When he is in selling mode, mainly he will be selling himself and how he can push a program "over the hump". Selling the program is not as much work as when Hayden Fry took over. He had to do a LOT of selling. Currently his message to the NT faithful (and used-to-be-faithful) should be "hang in there guys, we're going to get this thing into four-wheel drive and get it out of the ditch". But he can't be the only one doing the motivating. Jared Mosley needs to get with all the spirit groups and make sure they are pushing the same message as Coach Morris. For too long everyone associated with game day has been showing up and doing their own thing. That will never work.
  8. Congratulations on becoming the Head Coach at UNT. I look forward to seeing your plans for the program. BUT as you hurriedly go about the business of recruiting and filling the roster with playmakers, please remember this...... THE MEAN GREEN NICKNAME WAS INSPIRED BY A FEROCIOUS DEFENSIVE UNIT.
  9. From the WSU football staff bio's
  10. Failing that, I vote for Harvard.
  11. After meeting with the team. What group/organization do you schedule a meeting with to share your vision for the football program?
  12. Mike Leach suffers heart attack, situation dire for Mississippi State coach (clarionledger.com) "It appears, according to sources, that Leach may have suffered seizures with the possibility of brain damage. Sources said the situation is dire, and MSU said Leach was in "critical condition" in a statement Monday." IMHO, very very bad.
  13. Keeping the momentum going with an already established program is fine....even great. I'm a lot more impressed with someone that walked into a disaster (A$M Commerce), put his mud boots on and slogged around in the shit (like someone who has grown up on a farm had to do) and rebuilt the program to eventually win a national championship. That makes it HIS championship from top to bottom. And right now, he's in the middle of doing the same thing at SFA. He's already demonstrated that he will put in the work, get the team motivated, and get the fan base motivated to support the team. He KNOWS Texas and most of the Texas HS coaches. Of all the other candidates mentioned he probably knows North Texas better than any of them. As a result, he would probably never do like Bob Tyler did (and many other coaches since Bob Tyler) and say "what the hell is wrong with these people?"
  14. Welp, the imagery associated with this question should be enough to shut down the thread, and any further discussion about DD coming back.
  15. Hmm. The same Chris Thomsen that was head coach at ACU when Mosley was the AD? At one time I thought he would make a good candidate for NT, but we hired Dodge instead. Since then I don't think he has ever coached in anything but a coordinator position.
  16. My fantasy reaction would be "FINALLY" a coach that will probably have a clue about who we are as a program. And a plan to move forward whilst discarding the bad habits, bad perceptions etc. along the way.
  17. Just about any game that doesn't involve a west coast school, or the SEC/B10 elite. Just depends on the matchup and my mood. FCS playoffs are often fun to watch. Today I might tune into the Holy Cross-S. Dakota game. Definitely the Army/Navy game.
  18. I wonder if he hired a consulting firm to advise him on his decision. If so, I hope the University didn't hire the same firm.....................😎
  19. I tend to favor the spirits from "Durango Craft Spirits". Depending on who is selected, I will probably go with the "Cinder Dick" Burbon Whiskey. But I might also take a shot of their very excellent "Mayday Moonshine". Starting with my great grandfather, my family has worked for a railroad since around 1880. My grandfather was a "coppersmith" and was very involved in repairing and/or overhauling steam locomotives. Many Uncles in my family drove trains. My generation was the first to not work for the railroad. I was told by my mother that my great grandmother Buckingham (from a railroad family) kept a jar of moonshine in her "ice box". I cannot however find any sort of connection in my family to their choice of a name for their Vodka.
  20. Who was responsible for the McCasland and DeLong hire? Did they hire a consultant for those hires?
  21. Well, back when Wren Baker was hired, I remember commenting on the board that my preference was Jared Mosley. So, they went and hired him as the assistant AD. So there!......😎
  22. I find it interesting that after his stint as HC of ACU, he didn't seem to go after any other HC positions. He seems to be a perennial coordinator. Also, someone made a comment in another thread about how Colby Carthel physically appears. Well, that photo of coach Thompson makes him look more like a professor of economics (maybe even the department chair) than an assistant or head football coach.
  23. Congratulations to both of these fine UNT athletes. But just as important......who recruited these guys?
  24. If you are going to compare C.C. to anyone, I would compare him to Hayden Fry. Only Colby could out bullshit him in a one-on-one bullshit contest.....and that is saying a lot. Talk about someone that the local media would regularly go to for a quote.......on just about any subject. When was the last time that we had a coach that was this passionate about his job? When was the last time that we had a coach that was this passionate about the school where he was coaching?
  25. Could there be any one more verbally opposite to SL anywhere in the coaching profession? His dad is very much like him. When his dad took over at WTAM, he took a tour of every community club in the Canyon/Amarillo area to deliver the message that "We want to be your team", and then he would pin a WTAM pin on the lapel of anyone who stopped to talk with him. C.Carthel knows TEXAS. He understands the importance of COMMUNITY, and between Colby and his dad, they probably know just about every coach and assistant coach in the state of Texas. FWIW, Jared Mosley's program at ACU went up against the Carthels several years and had some epic games. FWIW (2) whilst talking with some alums at the spring game, the name of Carthel came up. The mother of one of our starters heard the name and said "You leave him alone. My other son plays for him and he just loves the guy"
