Save yourself a lot of money and go to ALDI and get their version of Corona.....

I used to have a supervisor who taught middle school English in her first career. When anyone in our unit would discuss a plan of action on any case we were working, she would always remind us "There's many a slip 'twixt the cup and the lip" I always think of that every time someone announces that a HS Junior has made a commitment to UNT.

If there were any fairness/justice left in the world. A group of rich UNT alumni would pool their resources and fund this..... Sidney Sue Graham Field @ Haynes-Greene Stadium.

Glad this old former QB commit didn't play at UNT

I know nothing of any incidences in Stephenville. There wouldn't be any stories about him while he was under 18. BUT my professional training and experience taught me that, like serial killers and pedophiles, Mr. Renfro didn't just wake up one day after turning 18 and moving into this college dorm and decide to start date raping and beating the local females. -

Hmm, I wonder if the DA in Erath County might be thinking of re-reviewing all of those allegations made about Renfro when he was playing for Stephenville. You know, the ones that I'm sure everyone ignored at the time. -
John Love was in attendance at the Joe Greene statue event. When Joe was making his comments about his time at North Texas, he mentioned some memorable teammates, including John Love. In saying his name, he looked over at a very frail looking man and nodded in his direction. Afterward I approached the man and asked if he was John Love. There was a woman, who could have been his wife, who answered and during my conversation with him (which was very short) helped Mr. Love stay steady. Just shaking his hand caused him to almost lose his balance. I told him that he was probably one of my all-time favorite players. He was very appreciative, and he appeared to be glad to be recognized.......but he really wasn't there. I was too late. I would be very surprised if he is still alive.

Austin Aune- Atlanta Falcons Camp Invite
SilverEagle replied to jtm0097's topic in Mean Green Football
His "int" numbers would indicate that he didn't get away with it all that much. Considering that the primary college offenses during his tenure were run-oriented (wishbone and veer) the DB's on those teams didn't get a lot of game experience against someone like him.... unlike today. So, I would guess that he threw a lot of reckless passes, perhaps into triple coverage, and that's why his "int" numbers were so high.... OR there were a lot of passes that bounced off his receivers' hands because he often threw the ball with such velocity. THAT was a problem that yours truly noticed with AA,...... and the same for Jace Ruder. Since Steve Ramsey has been brought up again. I have always wondered about the top statistical receiver in 68 and 69, Barry Moore. What ever happened to Barry Moore? I assume that since he was the statistical leader for two seasons, he was a juco transfer. But what about post graduation? -

Hmmm, lots of numbers being thrown around. I was just curious about one of our legendary QB's Steve Ramsey. Please keep in mind that all his numbers are based on playing for three years. # of passes attempted 1015 # of passes completed 491 # of passing yards 7076 # of TD passes thrown 69 # of interceptions 67 Pro career, 71-76 with the Denver Broncos. 6437 yrds passing, 35 TD's and 58 Int's. -
Rex Johnson?....#56 on your program.

Yep, they were on the same team. Dinkle is on page 123 and Laliker is on page 125. Summaries of every game in this section of the 1947 YUCCA. https://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth61017/m1/127/ They were on the 48 team as well. https://texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth61018/m1/120/

I've heard the name a time or two, but I could never tell anyone anything about him. Other than the final scores for each season, I don't know where to find any sort of statistical/background information about North Texas players pre-1950. I know that NT had a phenomenal start after WW 2, but I don't know the stars of those teams. I found out in recent years, that a former head coach (late 50's early 60's) at Decatur, Bill Laliker had been a star RB on some of those teams. I found out that he played HS football @ Canadian. Perhaps he and Dinkle were on the same team.

Footballscoop.com - Story on Grant Gunnell

Good luck to this young man, FWIW, I don't think his heart is in it. Maybe the SHSU coaching staff will revive him. -
John Love never played in a bowl game at NT......alhough I saw him do that once.

Denton Fire "Nut House". How appropriate. When I attended UNT in the early 70's, "Nut House" was a frequent (and the most benign) term used to describe the campus atmosphere.

Any YouTubes of the Guyer Marching Band under her direction?

Dwayne Thomas and Mercury Morris, West Texas State (Now West Texas A&M) Rayfield Wright, Fort Valley State We could just go on and on......

While Shorter has certainly been more successful, he seems to be almost as injury prone as Bush. Good luck to Shorter on that issue wherever he ends up playing.

Preferred Walk-On Offer - Steve Smedley - QB Conroe Oak Ridge
SilverEagle replied to Uncle's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, especially in the shorter throws (about 20-30 yrds). I come away from this highlight video like I do most that are submitted......"wow! look at those wr's". -
Is he anywhere in the NT record book?

You've already used Beasley Reese, but I can't think of anyone else.

Coach Morris Post Spring Game Interview
SilverEagle replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Yep, things never change. Everyone is always more fascinated with the new toy. As for me, as many of you already know, if I can't find a good over-looked-and-under-appreciated-underdog story, I'll settle for a good come-back story. At this point in time, Ruder gets elected. FWIW, I rate the top three as Ruder, Earl, and a very close Rogers. If we are thinking about anything/anyone else, what about the status of our PWO from Byron Nelson HS? I read about a month ago that he de-committed (and who can blame him). Did we then wrap him up with an offer of a 'ship? As for Gunnells. At this point, moving forward, he would have to turn into the second coming of Curt Warner to factor into making it as a starter for this team. I just don't see that ever happening.
