  1. A little perspective here. Hayden Frys first year. He went 5-5-1 and tied for the MVC championship. BUT he lost to UT-Arlington, and Memphis in the first two games. 2. OK, lets get real here. If you are going to say "if we had Aune at QB", you also have to include all the other players who started on the team with him that have since taken a NIL bus ride to other schools. Aune would not have prevented FIU from hanging 500 yards on us.
  3. Can he possibly do worse?
  4. Well, better this than sitting on the bench and not being able to contribute anything toward the success of the team. I still think he has the best physical attributes (strong arm with the quickest release, good size and the best runner when he decided to scramble) of any of the spring candidates. Gary Patterson did not develop this guy, but he did play LB at TCU AFTER a very successful HS career where he was a state ranked QB.....at Bridgeport HS. Kyle Clifton - Wikipedia I believe that Brad Kassel was an outstanding QB at Llano. Seems like Brad did pretty well at LB here.
  5. I'm not an expert, but I think that that would not have been very good for season ticket sales.
  6. Well, I'll agree with you on one thing. Coach "prime time" would certainly bring about a change. I'm not sure I would use the word "culture" in the description, however.
  7. Welp, to answer the question as posed by the title of this thread..........HE BETTER!
  8. Who is "Patrick" that Coach Morris was talking about? Is Patrick a significant player that might have been a difference maker had he gotten in more practice time before the game? You know, if the defense needs remedial training regarding tackling, then someone didn't do their job properly back in the spring. Because the mechanics of "wrapping up" , which came up several times during the presser, is usually something that every defensive player should have learned back in junior high!
  9. I can't speak for the administrators that pulled the trigger on the Morris hire, but MY perception is that Morris was hired to not only win, but win the games that absolutely mattered as well.
  10. Here are a few sayings/comments that I found about the issue of luck, that just might apply here. “
  11. Hmmm, you call it garbage, but it's the best description of our only tradition.......bitching for it's own sake.
  12. Reminds me of #2 for Boise St. in the Frisco Bowl. Scroll over to 4:36 in the game.....North Texas vs Boise State | Frisco Bowl | 2022 College Football Highlights - Bing video He did stuff like that all night long.
  13. Good response! People, I don't know who the AD at North Texas was before Hayden Fry, but I can tell you that Jared Mosley is absolutely the best AD I have seen here since Hayden Fry. Even though he was one of our worst hires in the history of our program, Bob Tyler, summed up our situation pretty well. "North Texas has probably the largest alumni base in the D/FW area, they are a well-respected institution of higher learning, and they have probably the best Band in all of the Southwest (at that time that was a very true statement). Yet North Texas students and Alumni stay away from football games in droves.....What the hell is the matter with those people?" We finally have an AD that has the best potential to not only recognize the question, but have the ability and inclination to do something about it. So I will respond to the finger pointers as diplomatically as I can.........get off his ass! Let him do his job. And quit bitching about your wrinkled $100 bills.
  14. probably SMU and LaTech.
  15. You didn't fix it, you enhanced it. Nice catch on your part.......😎
  16. Genius. The best way to get the attention of youth (or just about anyone) is feed them. And feed them something they are most likely to like. THEN talk to them about your passion and your vision for THEIR SCHOOL. They are more likely to listen when that happens. Hayden Fry (a fellow west Texan) would approve.
  17. I just ordered two of these,,,,Amazon.com: JISULIFE Portable Neck Fan, Hands Free Bladeless Fan, 4000 mAh Battery Operated Wearable Personal Fan, Leafless, Rechargeable, Headphone Design, USB Powered Desk Fan,3 Speeds-Dark Green : Home & Kitchen
  18. And this.... ...and this...
  19. I'd pay extra for the tickets to see that one.
  20. I keep hearing the qualifier about Burns he's not the fastest etc. etc. But the first time I noticed him, which was a couple of years ago, he caught a short pass and then it took about three defensive players to bring him down. So later I went and read his bio online, and it said that he played both WR and RB in High School. On that one play, it sure looked like it. I am looking forward to him making a lot of clutch plays this year. Sounds like Earl put it into another gear this fall. I wish I could have witnessed a scrimmage or two this fall.
  21. Well, I tend to agree. But when they hauled hay in Wise County, the pickups they used did not have AC. Can you imagine the reaction you would get if you described the job to some teen today? My grandson would roll his eyes and accuse me of making it up.
  22. I can't speak for the upper sections, but @3:00 the lower section of 105 will not be shaded. It will be that way for over an hour.
  23. RIP Mr. English.......#33 on your program.
  24. You know Jim. We all have stories about crappy jobs that we had when we were still young and struggling to save some money to go to school. Where I come from, the typical job for teenagers (in the summer) was hauling hay. Now, I didn't do that all the time, but the few times that I did it, I got to help haul alfalfa hay and stack it up to the very top of the metal hay barn in the middle of the summer. As arduous and shitty as that job was (and anyone growing up in rural Texas understand just how shitty hauling alfalfa hay is), it was not as challenging as another job(s) I had to work at with a small construction company in my hometown. It seems that one summer the construction company (Camel Construction) got awarded two flat roof replacement jobs at downtown businesses, plus the job of replacing the flat roof on the High School auditorium. All these jobs involved scraping off the old roofing and tossing it about two stories down to the pickups, but it also involved conveying the hot tar to those roofs via a pully system and five-gallon buckets.....in the middle of the summer. So, whilst doing the auditorium job (which took about three days) me and the guys I was working with (the owners of the company...one a UT grad and the other a Harvard grad) had gotten down off the roof completely soaked in sweat and began trudging back to our various trucks. As we started our journey, a gaggle of football coaches passed us on their way to the field house. One of the coaches was a particularly annoying coach who was very fond of the sound of his own voice. He never walked anywhere, he tended to strut from one locale to another.... all the time incessantly chattering in his annoying speech pattern. As they passed us this (aforementioned) annoying coach spoke up and said "gentlemen-gentlemen, now I don't want any of you to work too hard". Now, the two owners were too exhausted to say anything, and they kept trudging along. But I disliked the guy so much I had to stop and say "Coach, you know something? If you weren't so full of shit, you'd just weight 100lbs"........ His colleagues loved it! And they hooted and laughed at him the rest of the way to the field house......one of them was the head coach Chuck Mills. Jim, I've never been inspired to say that to anyone else. Let's keep it that way.............😎
  25. I'll have what NT80 is having as his #1 choice. And my second choice I will take the NT-Star that Hunter Green uses. In fact, I would like to have it on a hat......but a certain organization doesn't sell them.....🥺
