  1. When did North Texas start offering this degree? Is it through the College of Business? Pretty timely offering considering the construction boom going on in the Denton County area. And BTW, are any of you "fire-Mosley" posters going to give him any credit for this donation?
  2. We wouldn't have had DATCU without a student vote. The first attempt (run by him) failed miserably. He had to be told to stay as far away from the second try for it to succeed. But he had to be told. He didn't have enough sense to know that on his own. "Flyer" got the second vote going and saw it through. AND HE NEVER GOT ONE MENTION BY THE (RV) ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT FOR HIS EFFORTS.
  3. Just doing things "part time" Hayden accomplished a lot. He created the Mean Green Club so that donating to the athletic department could start happening. Something that never happened in the history of our school, He got us noticed by local media. He got our merchandise out there better than anyone before. I remember purchasing a Mean Green shirt at the J.C, Pennys at NE mall. Before that, you almost never saw any North Texas Merchandise outside the campus stores. I personally participated in one outreach event where a trailer bed was pulled up to the Sanger town square and set up. A pep band set up and played, Cheerleaders went around and asked Merchants to let them leave season ticket information/applications. They then put on an impromptu pep rally. Their message to the community was "we want to be your college athletic program". They did the same in some other small communities. His promotions guy, Bill Vogel owned a custom Mean Green van. Every time he went out in the community, even for a simple shopping trip, he went in his rolling advertisement for the program.
  4. "Come join us and be part of this great program" should at least be one of the marketing themes.
  5. Heavy sigh. How many times in the past have I ranted about this and got not much reaction, other than the usual "roll-eyes" emogie or the Barney Fife "Oh Boy" emogie. Stop blaming Mosley. I have watched (as a student/alumni) North Texas football since the early 70's and this is the best AD we've had since Hayden Fry. We always look for quick fixes for this and while winning certainly helps, it has never been the single cure......obviously. To begin with, I like the idea of student surveys. I would start with a question about involvement in the athletic program(s) where they went to High School. Did they attend/participate in their HS athletic events? What were the traditions of their High Schools? Did they enjoy participating as a fan during games? Was fan participation an expectation at their school? Does NT have sports traditions? What are they? What are a couple of the "North Texas" yells? Do you feel like you are "part of the crowd spirit" at games. etc, etc. The only tradition at North Texas is building and maintaining their bureaucracy. A petty bureaucrat almost cancelled out battle flag. FFR had to stand up to him at a meeting to finally make him shut up about the flag being illegal and against the law. I had an e-mail exchange with the GB director from about 10 years ago (he was a former GB drum major) who is no longer with the school. I suggested what I thought would be a good song for them to play for the Dancers some time. He responded that he loved the song that I had suggested, but he didn't make the decision about the music for the dancers. He said that he would pass on the suggestion to the director of the Dance team. The Dance team doesn't perform with the Band any longer. I wonder how many committee meetings, and other bureaucrats, were involved before that decision was made. As I've said before, North Texas doesn't have celebrations of their traditions and spirit. They contract with the appropriate groups to put on a football show. Fan participation is mostly optional.
  6. He should have been put on scholarship the very day that he was named #2 behind C4. Not that anyone cares, but I'm still pissed about Shane Porter not being put on scholarship. It was reported on this board that he wanted to stay at NT but went to UTEP because they gave him a ship. This guy was the leading rusher (648 yrds) and he added 91 yards receiving. What the hell?
  7. To me, most of the time when an injury is "faked" is when a team is desperately driving for a tie, or a win and they didn't get out of bounds, and they need to stop the clock. When that happens, the clock needs to start immediately when the "injured" player officially leaves the field. AND the only substitutions that are allowed is for the position of the "injured" player.
  8. Which of our RB's (or future RB) suffered that injury?
  9. Thanks. Based on his Minnesota highlight video, he truly looks like he has immense talent. At least against LaLa. Why did he transfer? Injury? If so, how bad?
  10. Are there any videos of him demonstrating his immenseness on the field, in the heat of battle? @ HS or @ Minnesota.
  11. Well we like to think that we've moved on a great deal since our days the Southland, but have we moved on as much as Texas State? Everyone still has their perception of Texas State that is stuck in the days of the Southland. But they have moved on people! Going to Texas State would be a good road trip for us. Their stadium has the same capacity as ours, and they brought more fans to a bowl game than us. And we are only about 35 miles from Ford Stadium. PLUS they have a better FOOTBALL BAND than us.......Bing Videos
  12. Tulsa serves pretty much the same purpose. They are the Rice of Oklahoma. And I don't like them either. I used to hope we could develop a rivalry with Tulsa, but they (like Rice) don't seem to be the least bit interested. SO, as far as I'm concerned, they can both go off to some other conference and be aloof and indifferent to them.
  13. Totally agree with this. I feel the same way about Rice.
  14. I believe that that is just what happened at the end of fall practice when Coach M. installed Mestemaker as #2 in the QB lineup. And look how that turned out.
  15. ??? Where is this article/discussion located?
