  1. Oh man, I must admit... if I was going to the UH-SMOO game tonight, I'd be tempted to make that sign....
  2. I haven't read ESPN message boards in years, largely due to the inflated population of posters there who appear to be mouth-breathers with mullets. Seriously.... most of those folks seem to say stuff that's stupid and makes me mad for no good reason, so I go where I can have some intelligent conversation and a little fun.
  3. Bayou Oaks isn't a bunch of big houses, but it's a better greek presence on campus than when I was at UH. More permanent, and its existence appeases the homeowners of the nearby neighborhood, who didn't like the big houses that the fraternities used to have there. That was partly why the sororities who did have houses had them several miles away from campus. It makes sense for the UH greeks to have smaller housing than UNT greeks do, because UNT has a larger greek population than UH does. Not to mention that UNT probably doesn't have the issues with nearby homeowners that UH did. Not that I've heard, anyway.
  4. I like it... Running back by committee!
  5. Dang it... I gotta see both of my teams play SMU each season from '13-'17? But really... Not bad.
  6. Of the listed choices, I took nachos. But I love a good Frito pie at a football game, and my kids would want me to throw their 2 votes in for Beth Marie's.
  7. Bruce Lee once looked Coach Mac directly in his naked eyes. Once.
  8. I like the run offense when it works, which usually seems (or did last night) to be much more successful to the outside. So many times we ran right into traffic up the middle last night. I think a balanced attack will work best for CUSA.
  9. Wine (which is essentially maroon) is one of the colors of Pi Beta Phi. Couple that with the family's TAMU connections and the color was a nice way to show support and stand out in the crowd for their sister.
  10. Right. And they can be the arresting agency that initiates felony criminal trespassing charges through the Denton Co. DA's office. I was looking at the east end zone and when I turned my head back to the field, poof, he was there. Did he jump out of the student section?
  11. I would err on the side of extreme caution. The rules about being a booster, as they have been explained to me, are that if you donate to the school at all- even if it's not directly to the athletic department- you are considered a "booster." I -also used to own family season ticket seating at my undergrad alma mater, and I was told that that alone makes me a "booster." What NT03 said also seems correct, and yes, it's very difficult to enforce this. I would think it would be okay to talk to your kids about playing college ball and suggest places to look at, but not directly steer them towards any particular schools, and not press the issue. But check with someone, and be careful.
  12. Even cajunS Prefer meaN green tailgating I know, it's a reach, but what the heck. Or, it ain't ESPN-ish, but... Laissez les vertes temps roulez! Let the green times roll... we can welcome the Cajuns in their native tongue.
  13. Decent, if slightly unoriginal, creative writing. I give it a B+.
  14. I bring my kids, but tomorrow morning they've gotta get up at 6am, so they're not coming tonight. I'm not getting to the game myself until 8:45 or so due to class. I won't be there long, but I'm going for as long as I can!
  15. They don't carry Houston gear, either.
  16. Was one of these kids wearing a dark red shirt and staying near the men's bench? He was HUGE. He walked by me and I swear his waist was at my eye level. And I'm not a shorty. We had a blast last night. Got to meet Coach Benford, heck of a nice guy. We spoke to a former player who came to watch and he had lots of good things to say about coach.
  17. Well, according to this website, over 7.6 million annually goes to Mack Brown's and Richard Barnes' salaries... http://www.texastribune.org/library/data/government-employee-salaries/ So if that's true, Mack Brown is... the highest-paid employee of the State of Texas.
  18. I'm not entirely sure of that, if he and his wife are denying and decrying. I haven't read the text of whatever it was that he said and don't plan to, but if he's calling his accusers a buncha liars, you know... denial... Egypt... And yeah, 90, you might be correct about the judge being careful so as not to risk a long sentence being an issue on appeal. I know about that aspect of it, but don't always think about it until later.
  19. Nah. But whatever. Have fun, I suppose.
  20. I know of criminals who have affected fewer people than Sandusky did, and even some who have admitted what they did rather than call their accusers liars, who have gotten harsher, longer sentences. It just isn't right.
  21. So sorry to hear about your loss. Blessings to you and your family.
  22. Heck of a game.
