Well... looks like we may be finally moving in the right direction...

I laughed, but didn't laugh, at this. Does that make sense?

I was at the Ryan senior honors ceremony yesterday. Not too many of our players seem to be going to UNT. A couple of them are, but I don't know if they're playing ball. Shame. Lots of talent right there.

We're not all unrealistic, not by a long shot. We like to talk big because we like to hope big, but most of us who have been around for a long time know exactly what it means to be a Houston football fan. So while you hope that Houston starts the season at 0-1, since I wouldn't be a UNT grad student without my degree from Houston, I'm just gonna continue to hope that *both* schools do well.

No, dear, I wasn't derailing the thread. You keep missing the mark. -

Riiight. And UH doesn't have its own issues with fanbase and alumni support? -
DMN Bill Mercer: Three Most Impressive Students At NT
RushnStudies replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
Not just these parts. A bunch of us girls growing up in the Houston area used to watch World Class Championship Wrestling on Saturday mornings. Or perhaps I should spell the word as Bill used to say it... "Rassling." -
Too late.

MGB: What the addition of Tyreke Davis tells us
RushnStudies replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't know the logic, but that team could really band together and surprise you. Maybe they were hopeful or... something. -
MGB: What the addition of Tyreke Davis tells us
RushnStudies replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Oh, I get it, believe me. I'm pretty sure he was on defensive plays in other games as well; those two are just the ones I remember. We had several players who played both ways when necessary. That team may not have gotten past Allen (which is 2.5x larger than Ryan), but there is some special talent there. -

No, that was Sanders. He got put in on defense for several plays during the Amarillo Tascosa game too. -
MGB: What the addition of Tyreke Davis tells us
RushnStudies replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
He definitely is. I'm just used to seeing him as an offensive player. It always threw me a little when Coach would throw Davis and Spencer Sanders in on defense. It usually worked, yes, but there was that momentary feeling of "Wait, what?!? ...oh, right!" -
He'd better not. Those checkbooks will disappear really quickly.

Dear God, I nearly snorted my drink out of my nose at this. Holy schnikeys.

MGB: Per our Ryan writer, Tyreke Davis commits to UNT
RushnStudies replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
My son was his teammate. Davis is a real character. His weakness will be his temper, which he *usually* keeps in check, but he can get animated if he feels particularly wronged or "cheated." He has potential to be a real leader on the field and in the locker room but is also a good teammate. This is a really good pickup for UNT. Good to see some quality local talent staying close to home. -
DMN Bill Mercer: Three Most Impressive Students At NT

I didn't know he'd left UNT under negative circumstances. That's a shame. -
Not in overtime, it isn't. At least not by us.

Our first score was a Deckie 3, first basket of the game. Wahoo. TO MG at 13:14. Tech 10, UNT 5. Couple of fouls and failed rebounds and something else (sorry, I'm doing a out 4 things while the game is on) led to a couple ot Tech scores.

Good Lord. For the second game in a row, I do not need a cardiologist.
