During the LSU/Aggie game, the ticker reported the original source as HornsDigest.com, then confirmed by Chris something (?) at ESPN. I'm not saying the negotiations aren't happening-- they very well may be-- but I did think the original source of the report/rumor was suspect. I just hope if he leaves, he does it quickly. Rips off the band-aid and goes. We'll need to replace him and move on. We've been here before.

Happy Turkey Day to all.

Can't go to El Paso, no. We'll stream the game at home, likely. For anyone who is going, we used to eat at a Mexican place out there called Avila's. It's not Tex-Mex but homestyle norteño food. I have read mixed reviews on the place lately, sadly, but it might be worth a try in case they were just having "off" days.

Ha! I can't say I didn't get what I asked for! :-D

In my time as a UNT student, the school has not had a live mascot. I have no basis for comparison in that sense. However, in my undergrad days at Houston, I was one of the students in training for Cougar Guard, the group who took care of and handled Shasta, the live mascot, in her home on campus and at games. (I never got moved up to an active handler because Shasta had to be put down the next summer due to health problems.) There will always be animal rights activists and such who do not like the idea of a live mascot, but those people do not hear the pop and the crowd when that cougar comes stalking in, or that Sheltie is walked in, or that longhorn steer is led in, or that War Eagle soars into the stadium. I would love a live mascot. Just need to figure out the legalities and logistics of having a live eagle.

Gah! No, thank you! I would too. Hell, I'd love to see just about anybody tell UT to shove it.

That's awful. So sad to hear that. Prayers for the player's family and for Southern Miss-dom. -
Early Littrell Watch Worry
RushnStudies replied to MeanGreenMailbox aka TFLF's topic in Mean Green Football
Believe me, I'm not in denial. I think it's possible that he will leave. I'm just so sick of the chatter and speculation that I'm not thinking about it anymore. I want him to stay, but if he goes, he goes. -
Early Littrell Watch Worry
RushnStudies replied to MeanGreenMailbox aka TFLF's topic in Mean Green Football
It's way too early to speculate about Littrell leaving, and despite the rampant rumors and speculation, I'm not going to believe that Herman is leaving Houston until he actually leaves. -

Kinda wish you had spelled it SMOO. Darn those guys. -

Been that way for years. Blah.

A lady near me just said it's distracting to see the players running around with Christmas balls on their heads.

Not saying it isn't possible for him to bulk up, but he's been trying to do that for a while. He's lean and lithe. Great for a scrambler but not necessarily for a pocket passer when the line collapses. He's proven himself to be able to take hits so far.

I like it. Great piece.

Yeah, that part's not sexy enough to get much attention. Not to mention that we played 4 games in 20 days or something like that when we had two Thursday and two Saturday games in 4 weeks. (I hadn't originally noticed that, but someone on ESPN pointed it out after the SMU game.) It's much more fun for CollegeFootballLand to call us overrated paper tigers and laugh at us for losing to SMU. Yes, we really should have beaten the Ponies. I was at that game and it was very difficult to watch. We did not even field the same team that lost to Navy. The guys just looked lackluster and unprepared, and it showed. On television, unfortunately. *facepalm* I love my Coogs, but we have been both overrated and underrated this year. It happens. I have taught my boys that anything can happen in college football, and every season, multiple teams prove that to be correct. The occasional unpredictability is one of the reasons we love the game. But Thursday's game is over and the W is in the books. It's time to wear green and head to Apogee this afternoon. See y'all there. GMG.

I know that you probably mean "on a regular basis," but there was a crowd of over 42,800 at the L'ville game. TDECU holds 40,000.

The Big 12 disagrees with everybody. I'm sick and tired of the push to go there. It ain't gonna happen.

Stacked defense doesn't begin to cover it. Kuehne did well considering how often Dunne broke through, around, over, and under the o-line. Several Liberty starters were hurt and several more were playing while under the weather. There were bright spots in the game but Dunne deserved to win that one.
