I was only out there about an hour, and our guys weren't in pads---so you can only tell so much. 1) I didn't see Woody working with the QBs. The qbs were Tune, Vizza, Meager, Phillips and someone wearing #16. Don't know if Woody has moved to another position or not. 2) We have several guys with the same number, so I presume that will change once the season starts. For example, Meager and LB A.J. Penson are both #7. (Penson is in green though for D, whil Meager is in white for the offense). 3) It looked the first group at O-line, were Menard (LT); Tyler Bailey (LG); Rose ©; Santiago (RG); and one other. (Carlson?) (Peachey?) Sorry, I can't be more precise......on that. And, I assume that was the first unit, since they were working with Meager. 4) One of the freshmen WRs that stood out to me: Sam Roberson from Somerville. But, they all looked talented. 5) Vizza looked good. But when I was there, the QBs were just throwing to WRS. So, it's hard to look bad, when there's no D. 6) I think we have added a lot of team speed. 7) Can't wait until Evan Fentriss is eligible. I was only there until about 4:40....others may have more info from later in practice.

They say "North Texas", and they have the SOW logo on them. They look great...mine is already on my car, too.

Great work by Eric Capper and his staff. I especially like the fact, that on the inside of the back cover, there are color photos of every one of our current NFL players (wearing their NFL unis). That's something great for potential recruits to see.... Anyway, I received one for the donor level that I'm at....but I think usually they offer them for sale, to everyone. If they do.....they'd be well worth it.

He's a DB...not a LB.

From what I was told....no fans are going to be able to go onto the practice field. We're going to have to stay outside the gate. So, we'll have to rely on Brett Vito's reports. There is a scrimmage at Fouts next Saturday at 10 a.m. Not sure if that's gonna be open to the public or not. Hopefully they'll let us know.

I think there were probably 700-800 people there. That's just a guess, but there sure were a lot.

Kickoff Cookout Schedule Of Events
Green Means Go! replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
I just hope they have this sufficiently staffed. If there are hundreds of fans there.....the doling out of season tickets, parking passes and MGC items, is going to take a considerable crew. Otherwise, people are going to be standing in line(s) forever. Seems to me, it might make more sense to be doling this stuff out all night (from 7 on)......so that everyone isn't getting in line for their stuff at 8:45. -

Not bitching, but couldn't there be something similar, where us guys got to spend an evening learning more about the UNT Dance Squad. Here's the story: http: //www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=1800&ATCLID=1147434's the story:

Yeah but, A & M and UT also have had conference stability. They've been in the Big 12 for 12 years now---with no conference members changing. In the time we've been in the Sun Belt, we've had to add FAU, FIU, WKU and Troy.....while jettisoning NMSU, Idaho and Utah State. Also, I think it's tougher for RV to schedule.....based on the fact, that he doesn't know what stadium his team will be in, in say 5 years. We do have future OOC home games with Air Force (2009), and Rice and Kansas State (2010). Hopefully, none of those are contingent on us being in a new stadium. Just two thoughts.....for whatever they're worth.

They both played in Denton......the year before last.

Sneak Preview Of Jersey! -- From Football 101
Green Means Go! replied to GreenBlooded1's topic in Mean Green Football
They look fine to me. But, to me ......it looks like two different shades of green (one for the home jersey; a different shade for the road jersey). Anyone else think that? -
Miami Dolphins Training Camp Depth Chart
Green Means Go! replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
The Dolphins 2nd preseason game (against KC) is on Thursday August 16, and will be televised by ESPN. Maybe we'll get to see PC in action, that night. (Plus NFL Network replays a lot of preseason games on a tape delay basis). -
I think you may be right....just haven't seen anything official on that. But based on last year's schedule, we probably will have a home game with them, and an away game at Texas State. But, once again....nothing official on those two. Needless to say, this is already a lot more attractive schedule than last year's.

I hope Jonathan "Freddie" Smith enjoys being on my s**t list. I released someone, to put him on there.

I'm not sure what the rest room upgrades entail. But, I would hope that the trough is gone. Also, I think those stalls have been there since the beginning.....
-
There are going to be some nice upgrades done before the season starts. Can't get into one of them, but the other has been publicized: According to RV, they are going to remodel the rest rooms. That has been needed for years.
-
Thanks for the info. Is the Lou Henson Classic a tournament........or is it just one game? Anyway, as far as I can tell, our OOC schedule thus far includes: Centenary and Okie State at home. Texas, NMSU, and UTA on the road.

Reades And Mitchell Deserving?
Green Means Go! replied to GrandGreen's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think Jalie and Ros are both very deserving of being in the Hall of Fame. But, I do see Grand's point. They were good players on a team that basically achieved very little (two WNIT blowouts to .500 teams---Oklahoma State and Washington). But, once a number is retired.....it's pretty hard to un-retire it. I've always liked the Cowboys' way of doing things. They don't retire numbers----they set aside numbers that great players have worn, and only dole those out to players that they think will also achieve greatness. For example, Drew Pearson made the number 88 pretty special. So, they never doled that out until they drafted a player who they thought would be very good---Michael Irvin. -
2007 H Of Fame Class Announced
Green Means Go! replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
I'm thrilled with these inductees......I know of Jalie, Ros, and Christy---all very worthy. And, Mr. Rutherford's stats speak for themselves. But, while I'm thinking of it....someone else who should be in the Hall: Jimmy Gales. Coach was a great assistant under Coach Blakely....and as head coach, took us to our first NCAA tournament. So, those are my two suggestions for 2008: 1) Walter Chapman (for you younger fans....Walter played in the 70's and was IMHO as good as "Booger" Kennedy) 2) Jimmy Gales -
2007 H Of Fame Class Announced
Green Means Go! replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Football
Sort of surprising that there are no football players in the 2007 class. One major oversight: I can't believe that the late, great Walter Chapman is not in the Hall of Fame. He's one of the best d-lineman I've ever seen at North Texas. -
The H of Fame includes Jalie Mitchell and Rosalyn Reades. Also, former Kansas State coach Bill Snyder (an assistant coach under Hayden Fry) is coming back for a reunion of our 10-win 1977 team. http://www.meangreensports.com/ViewArticle...;ATCLID=1139355

It was on the Drudge Report, mi amigo. And, you'd think if any place would have a right to those call letters........

We Play @ Uta Next Season----wed. Nov. 21
Green Means Go! replied to Green Means Go!'s topic in Mean Green Basketball
I saw a doubleheader there once. It was a men's game, followed by a production of "Godspell."
