  1. So, it appears one of you is Nolan Ryan and enjoy my commentary. Another hand-crafted sports promise... more me.
  2. If it were up to me, the only thing you would ever hear on the speakers is Tim Crouch (and even that could be toned down a little). After trips to Neyland Stadium the past 2 seasons and watching those people go absolutely nuts over the same catchy band played song over and over and over and over, I'm convinced that beats anything by AC/DC, Rolling Stones, Lil John, or any other trendy sports theme. However, I will plead that we put an end to the constant Steve Miller Band experience... I understand that the EAGLE thing makes sense but its not catchy or feel-good and seriously, we are better than that. Then again, at least it's not "Coming Round the Mountain". How about we just steal the Wabash Cannonball from every other school in the country?
  3. Hogans is mean and nasty. Therefore, I want to see him on the floor as much as possible and not in a 6th man capacity. Our overall size demands that we start the game with an attitude.
  4. I was also in attendance for this one and it was a horrible day for my family. I grew up in a texas tech family and was required to go to every home game. My parents moved us to Denton when I was still young enough to avoid the brainwashing... my older brother wasn't so lucky. Sadly, my sister married an aggie and hasn't been heard from since
  5. Best Game - 1991, Texas State University Armadillos VS University of Texas Colts Co-MVP's - Sinbad & Scott Bakula Worst Game - 2009, UNT VS Army for no other reason than icing our own kicker twice on the same attempt.
  6. Are there any schools left with that kind of firepower? I can't recall if Tennessee had hired anyone yet... kind of hoped they and Texas would have traded coaches after their tournament debacles. Pearl would have fit right in with Mack Brown and the boosters in Austin.
  7. AGAIN.... all you guys upstairs with your tuxedos with tails, tophats, monacles, canes, and now secret handshakes... Just don't spill anything on us below!!! Remember, we are trying to pay attention to the game down there so have some respect while smoking money wrapped cigars and being fed grapes by the dance squad.
  8. Is there a way to produce a bottom 20 list? I'm curious to see how the Prince of Darkness ranks.
  9. any idea on when the @tech game will take place? i'd definitely make the trip if it's not M-Th.
  10. i was at that state championship game (like most of denton) and watched LT use between 2-3 lineman per play to keep him at bay. it took possibly the best coached team and gameplan in the state to find a way to beat edwards. the rest of the defense had a decent day against a juggernaut of an offense with all the attention edwards was getting. I highly encourage anyone that can make a trip to CH Collins this fall to check him out... he's pretty much unstoppable.
  11. wait a minute... i think i hear someone running up the stairs..... is that??? it couldn't be? not after that fall!
  12. it's cool... but is it okay if we refer to you as untchrischris from now on? sorry if you don't know the reference
  13. Agreed, I will be the one perched in the top left corner of "The Nest" eating from a bag of microwave popcorn tucked in my wife's purse that we snuck into the game.
  14. all this complaining... and ya'll think you have it bad??? imagine being rank 794 for your selection time!

what an awesome pic... i wish that logo could make a comeback
  16. Personally, I'm not a big fan of the use of directional school names. Most of them seem to get lost in the crowd like all the schools from Illinois and Michigan. I would much rather hear "USC" than "Southern California" or the use of the abbreviated state and city such as "UCLA" or "UNLV". Directions make me feel like all the good names were taken.
  17. no love for foosball or shuffleboard???
  18. The great music and incredible education programs (too bad nobody is hiring these teachers anymore) have been the biggest selling point for UNT for years. It's too bad that many of the other degree programs don't have the same reputations. I had no trouble starting my career (Finance - 2005) the moment I walked out the door and I truly feel that the training I received through my degree program had me ready to take on anybody from ANY school. The only thing I would change about my experience is that I should have saved some money by doing my first couple of years at a community/junior college. If my wife and I ever decide to have children, I would feel very comfortable sending them to UNT.
  19. it appears nolan gave my post a +1 This courtesy of Shawn Williams at Dallas South News this evening... to see it all - http://www.dallassou...theories-begin/ "Fans in the Newberg Report Forums have been pretty rough on Rhads and then there's the Twitter account @AxeJohnRhadigan. When ESPN/Rangers radio pre/post game show host Bryan Dolgin (@RangersRadioBD) sent the following tweet, I immediately had a message in my inbox: I will be on Rangers game broadcast for play-by-play/color w/ Eric Nadel tonight. Dave Barnett is on TV. John Rhadigan has night off."
  20. I can get over the fact that they got rid of the guy I preferred. Thankfully, they gave me the opportunity several months ago to get that frustration out of my system. However, when getting used to a "new guy", it would be nice if they had a little bit of pbp experience or at a minimum 1 good catch-phrase. At the professional level, there should be a prerequisite that you have a couple hundred college/minor league games under your belt. I don't like being the guy that bashes somebody else for doing a job that I could never do... but they had a lot of experienced options that I know wouldn't get on most peoples nerves. Does anyone else think that moving Dave Barnett from radio to TV would have been a better choice? Obviously, Nadel could never leave his radio post.
  21. For those of you that have never been to a game at CH Collins (probably very few if you have lived in Denton for the past 7 years), you will be in for a nice treat. I've always loved the atmosphere this place has to offer and every seat has a great view. I would not have been ashamed if the university had asked for Denton ISD's permission to add 3K seats and start using this place for our games back in 2004. So what if we would have been the only division 1 team to use a high school field (someone should look into that, didn't check my facts - just seemed right)... that place is a monumental improvement over fouts. This post has been promoted to an article

  23. I was told by a rep that "Dodgeball" would lead us to eternal glory.
