  8. This "poster child (or man)" has got to be the most obnoxious heckler I have ever had the pleasure of marrying. BTW...if he is the next "poster child (or man)" for the yell like hell contest, how come he didn't get a t-shirt?
  9. We go to almost all of the home games and tried to get floor seats this season, only to be put on the "waiting list", while only a handful of people were sitting courtside. This just sucks!
  10. That is awesome!
  11. JJ can do it the same way the FB team has done it...give him time. Let's not just yank the rug out from underneath him because of a poor start. I really think he will have them playing well in a couple of seasons. He has a plan a focus, and the will to get it done.
  12. HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) -- Lifeguards were searching the water southwest of Los Angeles late Tuesday for an 18-year-old Southern California football recruit who was reported missing a day earlier. Huntington State Beach lifeguard Mike Broussard said the teenager was identified by his family as Drean Rucker. A prep All-American linebacker who graduated from Canyon Springs High in Moreno Valley this spring, Rucker was expected to report to the beginning of practice at USC on Aug. 5. "We've been here two days, we will be here 10 days until he walks to us or someone brings him to us," said DeWayne White, Rucker's uncle. Authorities said Rucker was reported missing at 8:10 p.m. Monday night. "The hearts and prayers of the Trojan Family go out to Drean's family at this difficult time," said USC coach Pete Carroll, who withheld further comment because of the ongoing search.
  13. Now they are changing their story..."Police continue search just outside Waco"
  14. WACO, Texas -- The search for the body of missing Baylor University basketball player Patrick Dennehy centered Tuesday on a gravel pit and the banks of the Brazos River just miles from an apartment he shared with the former teammate accused of killing him. Carlton Dotson, charged with the murder of Patrick Dennehy, is led into the Kent County, Md., district court house on Tuesday. Law enforcement sources have confirmed to ESPN that a body has been found just outside of Waco, but there was no immediate word as to whether it was Dennehy. As of 4 p.m. ET, members of Dennehy's family told ESPN they had not been told by police as body had been found. Carlton Dotson, 21, was charged Monday night with murder after he "made strong self-incriminating statements'' when he talked to FBI agents about the disappearance of his roommate Patrick Dennehy, said Joseph Flanagan, deputy state's attorney in Kent County, Md. Dotson lives in nearby Hurlock, Md. Dennehy has been missing since mid-June. A police informant told police that Dotson told a cousin that he shot Dennehy in the head after the two argued. Law enforcement officials, some on horseback, searched the river banks and a gravel pit surrounded by pastures, tall grass and sunflowers just miles from the Baptist-affiliated university where the two played basketball last season. A news conference by Waco Police was planned for 5 p.m. ET. The search began after Dotson talked with authorities. He told a reporter outside the courthouse Monday: "I didn't confess to anything.'' He was ordered held without bond Tuesday morning. Dotson's estranged wife said Tuesday that he needs psychological help, but that she does not believe he killed Dennehy. An extradition hearing was set for within 30 days after the defense refused to waive the right to such a hearing and allow the Maryland man's immediate transfer to Texas. Outside the courtroom, defense attorney Sherwood R. Wescott said the decision not to waive extradition was "a strategic move.'' He would not comment on whether Dotson had confessed to killing Dennehy. Waco police Sgt. Ryan Holt told The Dallas Morning News that Dotson confessed to killing Dennehy and described a location where Dennehy's body might be found. He told the newspaper that police searched there Monday night, but would not elaborate. He said the department would not comment further until the news conference. "Carlton, if you know where our son is, please let us know,'' Dennehy's mother, Valorie Brabazon, said Tuesday on ABC's "Good Morning America.'' She said she still feels "that my son is out there somewhere alive.'' Dotson's relatives have told authorities that Dennehy's body is "buried in a large body of water,'' the Waco Tribune-Herald reported, citing a source close to the investigation. Dotson came to Chestertown, about 55 miles from his hometown of Hurlock, on Sunday and Coryell said he used his cell phone to call 911. Police said they weren't sure why he came to Chestertown. Wescott's law partner, Purcell Luke, said in court Tuesday that Dotson's mother has lived in the Chestertown area for three years. When officers arrived, Dotson told them he "needed counseling'' and was hearing voices, Coryell said. The officers took him to a hospital, where he was evaluated but not admitted. While still at the hospital Monday afternoon, Dotson asked to speak with FBI agents, authorities said. Calls to the FBI were not returned. Dotson's estranged wife, Melissa Kethley of Sulphur Springs, Texas, said she cannot believe Dotson killed Dennehy. She wouldn't elaborate or discuss their marriage. She said that although Dotson called and told her Monday that he was talking with the FBI, he didn't tell her he had been to the hospital. "But I've known that he's needed psychological help for a very long time,'' Kethley said, crying, during a telephone interview. "He needs help, the boy needs help. ... Maybe, if he did do this, it's a blessing in disguise, and he can get the help he needs.'' Dennehy's vehicle was found June 25 in Virginia Beach, Va. Friends say Dennehy told them that he and Dotson obtained guns because they were being threatened. Dennehy's family also claimed the 6-foot-10, 230-pound forward told coaches he feared for his life.
  15. Former Dallas Star Roman Lyashenko was found dead in his hotel room in Turkey, Reuters reported today. Lyashenko, 24, a center for the Rangers, had been vacationing. "On Sunday morning, they opened his room and found him dead," Yuri Lukin, general manager of Russian champions Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Lyashenko's former club, told Reuters. "The cause of his death has not yet been established." Lyashenko and Martin Rucinsky were dealt to the New York Rangers on Feb, 12, 2002, for center Manny Malhotra and winger Barrett Heisten. It was Stars general manager Doug Armstrong's first trade. Lyashenko played sparingly in Dallas, tallying six goals among 12 points in 1999-2000 and six goals and three assists in 2000-01. He didn't score a point in four games in his final season as a Star. In 21 games as a Ranger, Lyashenko had two goals.
  16. The Detroit Red Wings have called a 2 p.m. news conference to announce the signing of longtime Stars captain Derian Hatcher to a five-year deal for $30 million. The signing ends two days of negotiations that had Hatcher bouncing back and forth between the Stars and Red Wings. The Red Wings kept upping their offer to try to pry Hatcher from Dallas, and the Stars kept trying to come in a little under the Red Wings' offer in hopes they could play on Hatcher's desire to stay in Texas. "It was a very difficult decision for Derian," said his agent Pat Morris. "We have been at this very hard for the last 72 hours, so that tells you how important it was." Hatcher played his entire 12-year NHL career with the Stars and served the last nine seasons as captain. He was a finalist for the Norris Trophy this season as one of the top three defensemen in the NHL. Hatcher made $4.2 million last season and was offered a five-year extension by the Stars at the end of the 2001-02 season. However, he turned it down, and the Stars then used some of that money to sign free agents Bill Guerin, Philippe Boucher and Scott Young. After doing that, they said they did not have the money to offer Hatcher a long-term deal. Morris said the Stars tried valiantly to give Hatcher a decent counter-offer late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. Dallas, given their (financial) circumstances, put its best foot forward," Morris said. "In the end, they weren't willing to go the fifth year." Detroit has several of its own financial problems, including having two goalies (Dominik Hasek and Curtis Joseph) under contract for $8 million next season. However, they are expected to shed the heavy contracts of Steve Yzerman, Chris Chelios and Brett Hull after next season and will use that money for Hatcher. There was more bad news for the Stars as their other most heated Western Conference rival, the Colorado Avalanche, are expected to announce today that they have signed free agents Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne.
