Okay, so im reading an aritcle on ESPN(http://espn.go.com/b...ur-team-playoff) about how all the SEC coaches are in agreement that, in a four-team playoff format, the teams selected should not have to be conference champions. Of course they would say that, but anyways, it got me thinking. How would I set-up the college football playoffs? So here are my two realities, if you will In an ultra-fair reality that will never happen in real life: You take the top 8 conference champions and the seed them 1-8 based on there rankings, or SOS, or wins or whatever. Then you invite the 8 highest ranked teams who didnt win there conferenc title. they would be seeded 9-16 based on rank, or SOS, or wins or whatever. All of the conference champions, regardless of rank, size of school, or whatever will get a home-game in the first round. Then it would just go on from there. In an semi-fair reality which could actully happen: You take the champions of the top 4 conferences (SEC,Big 12, Big 10, Pac 12). Seed them 1-4 based on rank. Then you take the 4 highest ranked teams who didnt win their conference title and seed them 5-8 based on rank. Top 4 teams get a home game in the first round. Higher seeded team always gets a home game. What do you guys think? what are the flaws in my scenarios? how would you do it differently? Hopefully this will give us something to talk about... GMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what does it mean when you "buy" a game? is this the equivalent of our FB team going to OU or LSU or some other big name school every year just for money?
-
Im not completely sure what Calvin is doing but I know he's in Houston. I think he has aspirations to be a tatoo artist or something

is it suppose to be down for the upcoming season?

AWESOME READ!!!! This is very exciting. It is so hard, as fans, to find something tangible, something that you can hold on to, that proves your program is moving in the right direction. I can go and show this to my "nay-sayer" friends. There's no denying the facts on this one. Really, Vito should have been all over this... This post is so powerful. I am sooo ready for next season. These current mean green students have no idea how lucky they truly are... Its taken awhile, But i truly believe RV is a great leader and that we will soon be doing big things and making headlines in college sports. P.S. - Somebody is going to try to steal RV from us pretty soon! GMG!

Do you think programs are looked down upon for taking players with behavior problems? Which programs are notorious for doing that? I always thought Oklahoma State had trouble-makers...
-
or... Him being a supposed racist? that was pretty big i think...

So I was in the Football recruiting forum and noticed that four players are transferring from OU, supposedly, for failing drug tests. I don't really have a problem with us recruiting players who are transfering, or being kicked out, from other programs for negative reasons. I say as long as there not getting in trouble with us then its all good. But its definitley a gamble. Anyways, my question is this: Is a program looked down upon for taking in all the knuckle heads that nobody else wants? I only experienced two years of Darrell Dickey but didnt he have a couple of Hard Knocks on his team? Isnt that why Dodge had to kick some guys off the team when he first came in? Anyways... I was just wondering what you guys thought about that.... Happy Tuesday Everybody! GMG!

Do you guys think its possible Benford is not done adjusting the roster? I know we dont have any scholoarships left but according to ESPN we are looking at a handful of transfers and decommits for the 2012 season.... its an ESPN insider story so i cant see what the fuss is truly all about. it may just be ESPN being extra late on reporting about PJ and Keith.... but here's the link if anybody's interested http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/features/rumors?date=20120507&action=upsell&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fncb%2ffeatures%2frumors%3fdate%3d20120507

True. But i think the question is, will CUSA keep their present distinction as a non-mid-major conference in basketball with the departure of Memphis?
-
good point. I think we will be fine in the end. Benford has A LOT of confidence, it seems, in Coleman. Coleman is a bigger guy and i wonder how he does in the open space.. This is all speculation, of course, but i bet Benford's offense doesn't run that much. Not even close to what we've done in the past five years. I could see us slowing the game down and making it ugly. Taking advantages of mis-matches created by CJ and TM....and just playing good hard-nosed Defense....
-
yeah i know. thats what i saw too. I was just surprised that CUSA is not considered a MMC in basketball... and i guess Memphis is the biggest reason for that
-
So i took a trip to the college insider, mid-maor top 25 website and, apparently, CUSA is not considered a mid-major conference. Granted, this applies to basketball only, but its still pretty interesting. I guess its just one of those things where i have to get use to what it will be like in CUSA.......... anyways.... just sayin..... here's the link http://www.collegeinsider.com/mmpoll/

He doesn't have to defend on the wing. I just meant offensively. I think if we had a decent 4 and 5 to where Tony can play the 3 then we could create severe mismatches for other teams... On defense, Tony could still be the 4 and play down low...
-
i would have tried to keep Odoh and let Niko go. I know the guy was good for us last year down the stretch, but man we need bigs.... If there was ever a way we could be deep enough at 4 and 5 to where Tony could consistenly start at the 3... this team would be pretty hard to beat....
-
so are we one of those teams that the bigger programs avoid? at least playing us in Denton? I bet we have trouble scheduling home and homes with bigger schools...
-
i would totally be down for a game against UH.... they have some really good recruits coming in down there. How is Rice bball even doing? i havent really heard anything about their program since Morris Almond let...
-
Yeah thats true. but if we do play UTA again, we must be victorious! they are the only school we play in basketball that really upsets me... they always play us so well...
-
man... if we lose to those fools again... it might be time to shut-er down....lol
-
I completely agree. But the fastest way to get noticed nationally is to win on the road... Beating Missippi State at there place looks a lot better then here at the Pit... even though that would be a crazy fun game if it was here in Denton.... But I dont mind playing some big name schools on the road, especially this year, I think it willl benefit us in the long-run
-
Does anybody know what our schedule might look like? It might be fun to piece it together and then get some predictions going... without even knowing the schedule and assuming everybody passes their classes.... I say we only lose 7 times next season Any Takers?
-
yeah that really is a Nasty Lineup for sure.... but my question is how deep are we at the 4 and 5 positions?... in a scenarion where Tony and Coleman were both in foul-trouble, who would be in the game?

Wasnt sure if somebody had already put this on here http://espn.go.com/dallas/ncf/story/_/id/7891047/texas-arlington-mavericks-moving-sun-belt-source-says

if P.J.H. and Odoh both come as advertised.... how do yall feel about putting Jones at the 2 and letting Alzee/trey be the 6/7? PJ could open up a lot of shots with his pass/penetrate ability...
