Should we storm the court if we defeat SMUt tonight?
Dannymacfan replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I am cool with it. Let them have some fun. I wonder if the conference will penalize through. -
If we keep losing all of our best players to the portal and we know that a good high school player is going to leave us as soon as they show to be good why not go for only guys with one year left of eligibility period? Seems that way you get a proven talent that flat out cannot leave for another program. That should be the focus or am I missing something?

Why do you consider Petersen a bad coach? Thought he was much better than Jaley.

I think it is a nice add, and he may do some good things. The more pressing need is we need a fire hydrant at the nose tackle position and it is the most important position on the defense in a 3-3-5 scenario. -
Is Morris the last Portal Committ?

The UNT men’s basketball team held another opponent to a season low scoring output as they defeated Temple Saturday afternoon at the Super Pit, 69-51. The Mean Green (10-5, 3-0) have now won five in a row overall, 16 in a row at home and remain undefeated in conference this season. “The commitment from everyone today was off the charts,” said junior CJ Noland who scored 14 points and had four rebounds Saturday. “Everyone is committed to winning and making winning plays on defense and offense. “But we know we still have a lot of room to get better for sure,” he added. UNT, who entered Saturday with the nation’s No. 3 scoring defense holding opponents to 58.9 points per game, contained the Owls (8-9, 1-3) to just 4-of-18 shooting from deep. Temple entered the contest as one of the nation’s top teams at shooting 3-pointers. After Saturday, North Texas opponents are only averaging 58.4 points per game. Offensively, North Texas had four players score in double figures and nearly five as Rondel Walker finished with a season-high nine points to go along with four rebounds and two steals. Guard Jason Edwards, just one game removed from his explosive 37-point performance last week, once again led his team in scoring as he finished with 16 points. Junior Aaron Scott was not too far behind with 15 points and seven rebounds. Senior big man Robert Allen finished with a season-high 11 points and had three dunks in 24 minutes off the bench. “We have a ton of respect for coach Fisher and Temple,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “They make things real difficult so I’m really proud of this group.” Next up the Mean Green travel to North Carolina for a two-game road trip. UNT starts with East Carolina on Wednesday and then Charlotte on Saturday. Both games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sports Network. Him going to Oklahoma makes no sense. He need to go somewhere where he can play ball.
-
He had to miss half the game. That is how I read the "setback" myself.
-
My favorite play in the game was when CJ drove, missed the floater and then grabbed his own board and put it back in off the glass. The dude is starting to show he can lead this squad.

Very big game for us.

Guy has really done nothing in college and yet he commands attention based off his potential. Would be worried if he could stay healthy here. -
WICHITA, Kansas – The UNT men’s basketball team defeated Wichita State Thursday night on the road 74-62 in its American Athletic Conference debut. The Mean Green (8-5, 1-0) got the road win despite playing shorthanded as John Buggs III did not dress due to a day-to-day shoulder injury and senior point guard Rubin Jones left the game early in the second half with an injury. North Texas was led Thursday by junior Aaron Scott who scored 18 points. Scott started the game making three straight 3-pointers, which is more than he made in all of December. Right behind Scott was Jason Edwards who poured in 17 points. Junior Moulaye Sissoko grabbed a season-high 11 rebounds in the win. “I’m really proud with how we stuck together tonight,” said head coach Ross Hodge. “We have a lot of respect for coach Paul Mills and what they’re putting together here and to do this with the adversity we faced, we have a lot to be proud of.” UNT held the Shocker’s (8-6, 0-1) Xavier Bell to zero points on the night. He was averaging more than 14 per game coming in. The Mean Green weathered the adversity as they built up a big early lead. Behind shooting and defense, North Texas led Wichita State by 20 with 16 minutes left in the game. North Texas has a quick turnaround as they host Tulane Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Super Pit. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU and the Mean Green Sports Network, presented by Learfield. For more information on UNT men's basketball tickets, contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 or at ticketoffice@unt.edu. Very disappointing that the coach could not get a one loss team up for a subpar opponent. -
