UNT Softball: Softball Named No. 24 in Preseason Ranking DENTON – North Texas softball is ranked No. 24 in the D1Softball Preseason Top 25, the publication released on Tuesday. The ranking marks the first appearance inside the top 25 for the Mean Green in program history. UNT enters 2023 after its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Regionals last season, finishing with a 37-16 record and capturing the program’s first Conference USA Championship tournament trophy. The Mean Green are the only team from C-USA listed in the top 25. North Texas will open versus UIC on Feb. 10 at 9 a.m. at the Buzz Classic on the Georgia Tech campus in Atlanta.

Well stated. He certainly was much better than Phil Bennett which was certainly one of the worst defenses we have ever witnessed in our history. I never understood the love and adoration for Bennett. Yes, he could tell a good story. But he also riddled us with nepotistic hires and the guy lived in college station and didn't even recruit? Good riddance.

Nice post and welcome to the board. Just a friendly suggestion- please don’t fall into the trap of blaming the UNT fans for all that ails the program. I know that the folks in the AD and administration like to do this because it removes any semblance of accountability from the people who are paid very well to achieve them. We have some very good and loyal fans who have put up with some absolutely crappy hires over many decades. We aren’t perfect but we are certainly not the main issue here.

I mean it’s a great location fpr eyeballs with all the eyeballs on I35.
