DENTON, Texas – Six UNT athletic programs earned a perfect single-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) score of 1,000 while seven teams improved or maintained their multi-year APR from the previous year. Additionally, Women's Tennis earned a perfect multi-year score of 1,000 for an eighth straight year. Men’s Golf, Women’s Golf and Women’s Cross Country have each achieved an APR of 1000 for three consecutive years. Men’s Track and Field posted its highest multi-year APR in program history with a 975, while Women’s Track and Field recorded a 990 for its second highest total on record. Swim and Dive (13 years) and Soccer (12 years) both extended streaks of maintaining or exceeding APR scores of 980 or greater. Women’s Golf has exceeded the 980 mark for the eighth year in a row. The following teams boasted perfect 1000 scores in the APR single-year: Men’s Cross Country, Men’s Golf, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Cross Country, Women’s Golf, Women’s Tennis. Each academic year, every Division I sports team calculates its APR using a simple and consistent formula. Each term, scholarship student-athletes can earn 1 point for remaining eligible and 1 point for staying in school or graduating. For schools that do not offer scholarships, recruited student-athletes are tracked. This is the second year of publicly reported APRs after a one-year COVID-19 hiatus. Last spring, the Division I Board of Directors approved the release of APR scores but voted to continue the suspension of program penalties.

It seems like the time it took to win the NIT may have taken our eye off the ball of the recruiting season. Just speculation on that from my part. It did take awhile and then the hiring of Hodge. Mac did us no favors by taking every single one of our assistants either. It took a month to get Estelle's contrct finalized.

Playing time versus sitting on the bench?

That makes two of us. I really do wish him well and hope he can land a full time position again someday. He was extremely nice to me and my family.

We’re looking forward to a big series next weekend at FAU.” North Texas (26-19) was held scoreless despite runners reaching base in five of seven innings. The Mean Green suffered its second shutout to the Tigers (28-20) and fifth of the season. Good find. I have been preaching this for some time, UTSA will always have a big flaw that they will not ever overcome which is they are a satellite campus for the flagship of UT in Austin. Any major donors who might be interested in supporting UTSA (very few) will always be encouraged to put their resources with the flagship. Also, their contract with Traylor was way beyond what it should have been and now all of their other sports are struggling and cannot make any changes because they have no money. Their facilities are a dump and they have to practice at high schools when the weather is inclimate or if the Alamodome is booked. They have had some incredible luck and won some very close games primarily due to having QB Frank Harris (recruited by Wilson not Traylor btw) who seems to have had 10 years of eligibility.
