  1. I've heard in almost every forum imaginable (here, media, bars, etc) that Todd Dodge is such a positive coach, focus on the positives, use bad plays as a chance to coach, but after our performances this year under him... These boys need to run. Look at the long plays we give up, especially for TD's. More stamina and speed would allow our guys to catch up on the long balls and long runs and make tackles where we haven't yet. Run before practice. Run during practice. If practice doesn't go so well, run after practice, and, if they lag then, make them run tomorrow morning before their afternoon pre-practice run. Run, run, run. Lift to gain and retain strength (especially in the off-season), but keep your guys as insane on their feet as is possible. A lot of our guys have the skill to compete in I-A, but they DO NOT have the conditioning and need to run their freakin' asses off.
  2. Hey, Pat Boone and the dude that played Teen Wolf's dad showed up to a Kappa Alpha alumni thingie...um...before the KAs got kicked off campus...but maybe getting the Greeks to help out with alums from their respective houses might be a good way to start.
  3. I think I saw better fights in 3rd grade.
  4. I had the exact same discussion with a friend the other day. Maybe somebody should contact some biological society or something to have this freak show documented.
  5. Didn't he have like a 3.9 GPA, too?
  6. 43rd year? You mean consecutively, or what? Not sure where it is now, but when they had tons of trophies and stuff in the atrium of the Athletics building, there was a football from like 1922 or something when we beat Tennessee, who was ranked like #2 or something that year. Were we not part of the NCAA, or what?
  7. I remember when Johnny first came, he promised us (students) a March Madness game by his 4th year, and said he'd quit at the end of year 4 if it didn't happen. Good thing he didn't follow through with THAT promise...
  8. I just keep getting a dead link. Can you summarize it?
  9. Sweet. I had wondered what had happened to him.
  10. My predictions: OU-L SMU-W FAU-W UA (AU?)-L ULL-W ULM-W TROY-L MTSU-W NAVY-L ASU-W WKU-WWW FIU-W That would be 8-4, but I doubt we'll do quite that well. Just couldn't figure which of the "little" games we'd end up dropping. Candidates include SMU, ULM, MTSU, ASU...figure we'll probably win 2 of those 4. Hard to figure, though, in a conference like ours where the "good" and "bad" teams flip-flop so often. Yeah, UNT, MTSU, and Troy have been pretty dominant over the life of the conference (our last two seasons notwithstanding), but still, we've pretty much been the "big three" from 2001-2007. Others do well here and there and then are at the bottom for a year or two again. Just a very fickle conference as far as what is considered an "upset". LOL
  11. Who else has been dragging back other Exes into fandom? I got my ex-girlfriend from freshman year to move back from Houston. She was in the Marching Band 95-98, and somehow ended up literally touring with the Texas Exes a few years ago with a boyfriend, going to all home AND away Longhorn games. Now she's back on the Green side of the Force (and we're adding a new member to the Mean Green family in October!). Also got a former STG president back, some old Pre-Law majors, and some theater people. Who else has brought people back into line? Even when we're not AT the games, they're on our TV or radio. Sometimes when it's televised we invade a bar and make them turn it on and piss off all the other schools' fans. Much fun.
  12. Wait...didn't Dickey and co. campaign that we not try to get into CUSA or WAC? I thought that was the deal when the big SBC realignment happened when USU, NMSU, and They-da-hoe left. Did we actually try for it and then save face in the press? BTW, "Daddy" (ooh! slap me! what is up with your name anyway??)...you can't be "an alumni". Unless you have multiple personality disorder, much like I thought Emmitt had when the "I am North Texas" shirts first came out. (Really? You're ALL of NT? Cool.) Brief Latin-to-English lesson: 1 male graduate-alumnus many male graduates-alumni 1 female graduate-alumna many female graduates-alumnae many male and female (or maybe transgendered? not sure if there's any Latin or English reference for that one) graduates-alumni
  13. Oh, yeah? Check this out. http://viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?...imageID=2568773 That rocked.
  14. I thought about shaving it into area strays, though I think Nair might work better. Seriously, though, how many people do you think we could convince to shave "NT" into their head in some form or fashion? Maybe we could get some Fry Street kids in on the action, too.
  15. A number of venereal diseases come to mind. Shocking that this came from Austin.
  16. Some of you sounded like you were concerned it might not happen. Me, I was never worried at all!
  17. A bunch of us tried similar stuff a few years back. We got a lot of flak from a few people "high up" who were concerned about protecting our rights, thinking Wal-Mart and everybody else selling our stuff would be too hard to make sure we were getting our money because there would be too much of it out there, etc. My thoughts were basically along the lines of...isn't that why we employ attorneys and accountants and such, to ensure that contracts are properly written and enforced and that all of the money goes where it's supposed to? Changes in leadership have been very helpful in altering the previous, somewhat "isolationist", point of view.
  18. I was thinking the exact same thing when I read the topic of this title. Just based off of our returners, new coaches and new players, I'm thinking that the first "building" year will end with between a 5-7 to 7-5 record, with the following year having 8 or 9 wins, if all live up to anywhere near expectations.
  19. A 310-pound guy pressing 225 27 times is like me pressing 100 27 times. That's pretty low. Athletes at the pro level should normally be able to press 2/3 of their weight around 50 times. That's a pretty low level of upper-body muscle stamina for someone who should be working out every day! The 1-rep max is killer, though.
