  1. Herpes? I don't really care about perception right now. We looked bad for a long time. Win more and we'll be fine with the people whose perception matters...potential fans/students, recruits, and bowl committees.
  2. Shiiiiiiitttttt....Fine is actually producing at a higher level than I expected from Morris. It's the O-Line I'm worried about.
  3. Hey guys! Since I'll actually be in Texas, I've been checking to see who else wants in. Including a Talon who hasn't been back in almost a decade, I'm bringing at least 11 to Homecoming as of now and hope to grow the total. We're just going to chill in the end zone with cheap seats and have fun. If anybody else is down or has friends up for cheap seats, message me. It's only 10 bucks with the group discount, so it's easy to get the "eh, I'm not that into it" crowd to come. Also, there are a couple of options for the UTEP game, and I already have a group of both UTEP and UNT friends that want to sit together. Tickets go on sale November 1st, so we have time to figure out what we want to do. The seats I'm looking at are NOT in the visitor section, since it's a mixed group, but if you wanna hang out with us, let me know and I'll see what kinds of packages are available! And...for UTSA...right now it's just me and my girlfriend, and the only thing I've found is a Groupon for $18 for General Admission, but if anybody wants to go in on a group rate, I'm open to that. We're not up for anything fancy, just wanna chill and hang out and watch the game, so any seats are cool with us.
  4. I noticed some really obvious infractions with movement probably 2 yards over the line from our guys too. I'm glad it wasn't called, but...really...they were pretty bad. And the hand to the face...even on the replay, it was nothing. Just awful.
  5. Yup. I should be there unless things change...what about you? I'm gonna post about tickets right now, actually.
  6. Army and UTEP are winnable...the rest are long shots, but can be won with the Littrell attitude. I'm now expecting at least 5 wins. It's probably gonna be close.
  7. I watched part of the ASU@UTSA game at a bar in Tucson...they could possibly win the West if they can take LT. Score a TD on them and you'd better go for two so you're not praying to catch up at the end. I know a lot of you guys like talking trash about them, but they look pretty freaking good this year. Even with improvement from our team, if UTSA keeps it up, that's going to be a really tough one to win.
  8. Is there an advisory in effect or anything? I remember there was at least one year where we almost weren't allowed to have Bonfire because it was so dry.
  9. They should pay you sales commissions. Just ordered it and watched UTSA crush SMiss. Runners are serious contenders for the West. Looking at that game and their close loss to ASU...if you score a TD on them, better go for two....
  10. Yup. But with our schedule this year, and the teams that aren't as hot as they normally are, I think there's an off chance we get into one of the lower bowls if we swing a couple of wins over teams that are considered only marginally better than ours. As of right now, I'd give us about a 50% chance to make one this season. If we don't, yet show even moderate improvement for next year, I'd expect us to almost certainly pull in 6 wins then. I still only really expect 4 or 5 wins this year and 1 or 2 more next year, but if we can squeak out a couple of close ones and execute properly (unlike what happened against MT), I could see us getting eligible both seasons. I only hope that if we do, we don't draw a really good team that just got bumped down due to having other teams in their conference overachieve in either season. I wouldn't expect us to be a giant-killer in a bowl in either season, but if we land another "barely made it by the skin of their teeth" team, we could win one (or at least make it competitive).
  11. I get the joke; I think the negatives are from people who didn't catch what you did there. Yeah, for sure, but with the O-Line not being as awesome as we've seen in the past, he may not have gotten much more. If the OL keeps this up, more runs would just spread out the punishment already being taken by Fine. Those guys need to kick some ass. If he had the time McNulty got out of his OL, we'd be freaking golden. I don't even remember how many times I counted to almost 20 where AM had the ball and plenty of time to make a play.
  12. There are a lot of valid points in this discussion on both sides, and I don't know exactly what was said, and the specific wording may have been unacceptable, but the spirit of the idea is valid. These three quotes help to encapsulate my thoughts as much as any. Look...anyone on here who actually knows me knows that I'm a huge rebel. Dislike authority, don't like being told what to do, hate conforming. It has made me very unpopular in certain circles, yet quite well-regarded in others. Everybody has their own comfort zone. It's all good. But my rebellion has also been one that involves both self-awareness and discipline. Don't point out the mote of dust in someone else's eye while disregarding the plank in your own. These guys aren't children. They're still young, but should be learning a high level of discipline and a drive to achieve while receiving (not counting the few walk-ons) what amounts to a 5-figure salary in terms of scholarship, room and board, coaching, meal plan, course fees, books. and other perks of the job. And yes, all of those job perks are well-deserved...should they take it seriously. This is FBS, major-college football. I got a scholarship to the same kickass University that required me to maintain a 3.5 or higher. I did that and much more. When a University offers you a huge financial package, and requires you to step up and be a [friggin'] adult and work your ass off to prove that you've earned it, you do it. Maybe the guy was out of line with specific things he said or the way he phrased it; I don't know, because no one has yet quoted him. But of the times that I got called out for issues involving behavior or achievement, though many were opinion-based, there were a few that were extremely valid. I was embarrassed and apologized and self-corrected immediately. If we are giving out scholarships, especially those including huge financial packages that involve what would otherwise cost at least 40K a year, a modicum of decorum and behavioral standards are certainly reasonable expectations. Should any of you disagree and desire to discuss it in person, I'll be there for Homecoming. Just look for the alum with the mohawk, piercings, and tattoos. There probably won't be many. Then you can tell me how we're expecting too much conformity in the way that these young men behave. Seriously...give us a valid reason for behavioral differences, and I'm ready to listen. But I don't buy the "they're young and having fun and shouldn't have to be responsible" crap. I ran into E.B. on Fry Street (for those who know the area and his van) last year and he referred to me as "the original gutter-punk." But the difference here is that I believe that when we are given an opportunity in exchange for a minimum level of performance, should we choose to accept that opportunity, we are also responsible for achievements and behaviors that adhere to the requirements lain out in order to receive the perks of that opportunity. I hated everything about where I was and almost everyone around me. North Texas gave me a scholarship, an opportunity to be the first in my family to receive a degree, and a place that I could call home for the first time in my life. Instead of being jumped by 5 guys and punched in the face every time I walked down a hallway, I had a chance to focus on my academics and to be involved and do my best to make a community - one that took a risk on someone like me - proud that they rolled the dice and took me in. I know that most of you can't identify with that, but the core of it stands for everyone. When you're given an opportunity, when you're given a chance...and especially when everyone else thinks you're worthless, but even disregarding that factor, if there's a possibility that you can show everyone, especially those who've invested so much in you, that you have something amazing to give...why wouldn't you? Work hard. Kick ass and take names. Stand out instead of fitting in. Be f--king awesome. Don't d--k around when your team, your classmates, or your friends need support...get serious about your opportunity to show the world what kind of person you are. I don't want anybody heckling our guys for being imperfect...but I sure as hell am not ready to coddle them because it's fun to screw around instead of being focused on your teammates when you're losing. Don't be an a-hole, but seriously...if you think they're beyond all reproach just because they're "kids"...grow a pair.
  13. I can make anything stick together. Divorces give you special powers.
  14. Wait...what? What did I miss? I didn't catch it on the online stream. Well...yeah. For about 92% of guys, anyway. AND...?!
  15. Right...and even with that, our newbie Fine had more yards passing than watch-list superstar Stockstill did. Yeah, he must be terrible.
  16. Yeah, I am...he didn't have a bad game at all. There were a few times when he could have made better decisions, and others where he was killing it. Many of the drops weren't on him, they were on the receivers. And once the game started to go the other way, he went into panic mode sometimes. He just needs to develop the skill of maintaining his cool all of the time. He's used to winning and isn't used to playing at this level. He still fared really well...like I said...303 yards against the best team in the conference, and he's brand new. If he can't adjust, he's toast. But he's quite a competitor and I suspect that he just needs to grow into it. He'll be...wait for it...fine.
  17. Definitely. We killed it when we were strolling down the field on good drives...but when the pressure was on, it killed us. They'll grow. It's all good. We didn't suck tonight. Showed lots of promise and room for growth...and most of that growth is the kind that just comes with practice. We will win a few more this year as the guys learn, and will be really good next year.
  18. A freshman QB barely bigger than me throws for 303 yards in his 4th start against the team likely to win the conference and it's the second coming of McNulty?! A few stupid penalties on both sides (ineligible downfield TWICE and some very stupid defensive penalties) cost us our momentum. We had 3-and-outs and so did they. Fix the simple mistakes and this game could have been very different. Young team, new players, new coach. He will fix it. He has to. If he can't fix the simple stuff, being hired away isn't what we should worry about.
  19. I think there was a lot of good on all three phases, just not consistency. I hate that we lost, but that was expected...and damn...I think we're going to be really good next year. Our upcoming slate of opponents leads me to think that we may still squeak into a bowl, but even if we don't...with this many new players under a new staff, a great young QB and a hell of a defensive corps...if things continue to gel, we could be kicking some serious ass next year.
  20. Isn't it funny that the commercial they keep playing on the Campus Insiders stream is Tom Selleck voicing "Go RV"?
  21. Regardless of the line, if we keep it close, I'll be happy. Win, and I'll be ecstatic.
  22. https://www.facebook.com/tiffiny.depoy/videos/10202274363938090/ I can't figure out how to make the video show here instead of just the link....
  23. Whose autograph is that?
  24. Leeks are fairly expensive. I love them, and use them in my vichysoisse, and have had amazing crepes that featured leeks. They've become the cuisine artisan's onions. Scallions are more like the poor man's onions. I paint in 3-D...I could make an image that works, but you need prismatic 3-D lenses to get the effect.
