Make it a Green Day on Game Day in Denton The University of North Texas Athletic Department and the Denton County Transportation Authority (DCTA) are partnering together for a special Get Your Green On promotion in conjunction with this weekends Mean Green football game versus Ball State. All fans and passengers wearing Mean Green colors or apparel can ride DCTA services FREE of charge on game day, September 14. The game day DCTA free services include the A-train as well as a special shuttle from downtown to the base of the highway pedestrian bridge by Fouts Field. The A-train will offer regularly scheduled service between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Saturday. DCTA will offer shuttle buses from the Downtown Denton Transit Center to the stadium every 15 minutes between 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Additionally Connect Routes 7 and 8 also provide transit connections to the stadium. Shuttle services will also serve the businesses in downtown before and after the game. Transit service will be available between the square and the Downtown Denton Transit Center until 10:00 p.m. with the last southbound A-train leaving the transit center at 11:15 p.m. UNT and DCTA have always had a great partnership, and this game day shuttle is another example of that partnership, stated Jim Cline, DCTA president. The transit connections to the stadium, accented by the activity and offerings in downtown Denton, are great reason for alumni and Mean Green fans throughout the area to take the A-train and enjoy the day in Denton. This is another opportunity to create economic impact in Denton on game days said Rick Villarreal, the North Texas Director of Athletics. We really appreciate DCTA and UNT Parking Services working with us on this partnership. Its the first time we have tried it, and we hope to build on the idea in advance of the November 9th Homecoming game when we may offer it again. The earlier kick times for the Ball State and UTEP games fit in well with existing DCTA schedules in Denton. If you have not been to a North Texas game at Apogee yet, and maybe havent been to our downtown area in recent years, what a great way to see all the positive changes, said Villarreal. Denton is a really large college town and the advances made in our downtown in recent years have certainly added to the choices you have on a game day. We want you on property and tailgating, but making a stop downtown for food and entertainment is also a great option before or after the games. This partnership offers those choices. Downtown Denton will be busy on Saturday with the annual Arts, Antiques and Autos event that will run from 9am until 3pm. Take advantage of this promotion and enjoy music, art, food and a scavenger hunt as well as a plethora of unique shops on the Downtown Square. Then catch the shuttle in time for the 3pm kick-off. Make it a GREEN day! _____________________________________________ Tickets to the game can be purchased in advanced online at MeanGreenSports.com or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-UNT-2366 or on game day at the Gate 3 entrance which is a short walk from the highway pedestrian bridge. The game kicks off at 3pm at Apogee Stadium. Additional information regarding North Texas Football and the game day fan experience can be found at Mean Green Sports.com click on Football Game day. Will Mac ever throw the ball on first down?
James329 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
So many delayed hand-offs out of shotgun. We don't have the speed or the passing threat to make that work. It's not how often we run, it's how we run. Slow handoffs 5 yards behind the line aren't a good idea unless you're burning a blitz or you've been able to throw it all day. -
Official Ohio Game Score Prediction Thread

Ohio - 41 UNT - 17 On the road, Ohio is much better than Idaho and motivated, D still cant stop big plays. I just don't see it being close. Prove me wrong guys. -
Still worried about our D and big plays.

Would you like to see the UNT Flying Worm retro uniform return?
James329 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Throwbacks were ok. I liked the classic look. Have no problem with worm other than using 2 greens and a white helmet. Worm is nice on a throwback, but by no means should be used today. We have a solid logo we don't use. I think the issue is that our current look isn't good. Made these seem a lot better. I would be ok with using the throwback uniform, updating the green and using a green helmet with a white SOW. -
Other players talking about going to see and visit him. Doesn't sound good.

When did we start thinking that? 90% of mean green gear, if you can find it, sucks. I blame the athletic department. I want to spend money, give me something worth while. I don't understand why they are so inept in this area. And yes that includes uniforms. It's all been a problem for, we'll, forever. Hire someone and FIX IT!

Also... "The Denton Police Department will have extra officers working I35, I-35E, I-35W and their service roads for 35 consecutive hours from 4:00 pm on Friday, August 30th until 3:00 am on Sunday, September 1st. The purpose is to have extra officers on duty to help keep those traveling along I-35 as safe as possible. The officers will be looking for DWI’s as well as other traffic violations. We hope that this will reduce the number of crashes we work over this 35hour period." Just sayin...

Guess not, haha.
-
No.

What if there was a Shuttle that went to and from the Stadium and the Downtown Denton station on game days?
-
No. The A-train that runs along 35E and connects with DART. There's a station in Downtown Denton. Wonder if people would use it if there was a shuttle that took you to and from the stadium and the station.
-
Would you ride the A-train to games if there was a shuttle that took you from the Downtown Denton Station to the Stadium? Why or why not?

Something new for game day tailgating?
James329 replied to SilverEagle's topic in Mean Green Football
These are public transportation and have to approved by the city. Fort Worth recently okay'd one for downtown. -
Texas Douche spotted at Jupiter House today!
James329 replied to North Texas Shep's topic in Mean Green Football
Did you say anything? I bet not. Give people enough hell and they might think twice about wearing that crap. This isn't even a big deal though. If it was actually on campus, then you definitely say something. -
If this isn't possible right now I doubt it is DCTA's doing. I bet the University doesn't want it, would rather be the ones getting paid for parking. Maybe someone should inquire about this. Seems simple enough to have one UNT shuttle make a few trips from the DDTC to the stadium and back on Saturdays. The train runs late on Saturday too so...
