One of the biggest hire's in UNT history?
smoothfresh replied to bstnsportsfan3's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I can't wait to have him show up at events and then go behind his back and have gatherings in the parking lot while his games are going on. (Sarcastic) -
Just an FYI for us UNT fans. As many well know I have k-state ties and Bruce Weber is going after him.

Scheduling Out of Conference Scheduling Article

2012 Bold Prediction: This football team, athletic department and our fans will be leaving the Texas Southern game in a much better mood as opposed to the LSU game. -
Scheduling Out of Conference Scheduling Article
smoothfresh replied to The Fake Lonnie Finch's topic in Mean Green Football
Amen Lonnie... I was there for everyone of those games. Do you think our fans were happier about beating the likes of Idaho St as opposed to playing at Alabama and getting drilled (for those who don't know the answer its "Hell Yes"). When a program has been "down" wins are all that matters. As Rick stated to us, there is a real easy answer for not having to play at Alabama, at LSU, etc... show your a$$ up to our beautiful stadium regardless of the opponent and things will change. -

Your Promo Ideas To Fill Wing Section Every Game?
smoothfresh replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
I've referenced this before and I think it's a great idea. At KState they have a Loyalty Season ticket program. If you go to at least 5 of 6 home games your season ticket price is $99 from year to year. In our case something like $50-$75 seems like a fair price. I've been told that might be cheaping down the stadium and the program. My thoughts these coaches and these players don't give a dam how much you paid to get in the stadium they just want you there cheering for the team. Now addressing getting these students to come to a game for free, I give up on how to fix that problem because that blows my mind. -
Tap the breaks Coach Emmitt on saying bad things about Manhattan or I will be our team's Lamar Odom on Saturday. You need to pay visit, its a great college town (weird that a town actually gets behind their college).. most importantly a good bar district. Clearly your comments are RV's, JJ's and Mean Green Club employees fault so i'll forgive.

I didnt stay to long either but agree Trice is the punt returner I bet. Really tried to focus on new d-coordinator, great intensity and very detailed, love that. First day but you can just tell a big difference between day one last year. Everyone that can needs to venture out there and show some support. Coach Mac looked great and yelled out the first circle drill is Saturday (maybe we can have one at the gmg.com b-ball game).

In....can't wait to see some action and the noticeably improved conditioning.

Will UNT's New Baseball Stadium Look Similar To This

Will UNT's New Baseball Stadium Look Similar To This
smoothfresh replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
Unreal where are this universities priorities? We have to fix that sidewalk in front of the Super Pit before we do anything! Baseball can't get here fast enough.. RV count me and my family in for 3 of the finest seats in the stadium! -
LSU.... possibly.. love to party K-State.. yep that's a given..fun place to go for those who enjoy a college town atomsphere (great bar district).. might be dressed in a cat head with wings and feathers. (FLO-MO need to make this one) Florida Atlantic.. already booked.. fun South Beach weekend and an away game a$$-kickin on FAU Houston.. yep.. should be good crowd and fun tailgating Middle.. nope.. we are getting to Florida cheaper than Nashville Monroe.. yep.. another away game a$$-kickin WKU... see Middle BCS Bowl Buster game... hell yes!

2012 Mean Green Football Schedule
smoothfresh replied to MeanGreenWithEnvy's topic in Mean Green Football
Who cares who we play.. lets win the games we have scheduled... question for people b-ing about the schedule did you feel better after the Middle Tenn. game or the Houston game? -
Maybe Denton and UNT students will support the SOW on the helmet after we have a rally (of course during the women’s 1st round Sun Belt game) at the upgraded Super Pit. We can show the new all black uniforms on the jumbo tron. No one will show because the athletic department didn’t personally call anyone and this will jeopardize us getting into the Conference USA/ MWC alliance and we will be stuck playing 4 homes games in our new stadium (with in operable turbines) against FCS schools.

Great post Wardly....simple and spot on!

Another great post Vet.. guess what our students aren't going to give a crap about the likes of East Carolina or San Jose State coming to Apogee. The problem is not us loyal fans who are on this board talking and following UNT athletics every move. Regional teams are a good way to at least attempt to get people to come to our fantastic stadium.. guess what the likes of LSU, USC, Virginia Tech aren't venturing this way anytime soon. We had Indiana at home.. was that crowd really what we should settle for?? no way.. at least with Texas State or someone in the area we at least have the possibility of getting a few of their fans up and having some of our students invite their buddies who go to these schools up for a weekend of football and partying in our town.
-
Amen to this! I personally like the regional conference. Perfect for road trips and perfect for those schools fan to come to Apogee and spend money in our communities.

Just received tweet from Footballscoop... anyone have any details.. terrible if true and thoughts are with him and his family

What a great turnout last night. Just listening to the coaches and AD talk gets me fired up for what has happened and what is to come under this regime. I am very proud to call myself a North Texas Mean Green fan. As coach said last night it’s time to stick our chest out and get off our ____ and be proud of what’s going on here. I particularly enjoyed him calling out the city of Denton. The athletic department has basically done all they can and they have now tasked us loyal fans to go recruit anyone we can to show up at our football and basketball games (yes other sports as well). I for one will take pride and do what I can… It appears we are only going to get 5 homes games this year. I like how Rick was open and said if we get butts in the stands then we won’t have to play more than one “money” game a year (I like the attitude that these aren’t just money games these are opportunities to make North Texas known). September 8th we need everyone to embrace the home opener as our opportunity to show these kids we care. Yes its Texas Southern but who cares we need to fill that stadium up and make this an event somehow (Every year K-State’s home opener is called a Family Reunion and we play the likes of Eastern Kentucky, UMass and get 50,000 in the stands… I had to mention the Wildcats at least once). It all starts with getting someone to attend one game, one event and they will see this is a great thing going on right at our doorstep. GO MEAN GREEN and let’s kick some ____ !

First Year Head Coach Wins Again At Ark St
smoothfresh replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
As i've stated before i'm new to the Mean Green world but you folks have no clue how bad things can get. I grew up around the Kansas State program and we flat out sucked prior to hiring the RIGHT guy (If you don't know his name you don't know college footbal). *See Below* He took over a program that had lost 510 games in 93 years of play—easily the most losses of any team in Division I-A at the time. The school had been to only one bowl game (the 1982 Independence Bowl), had not won a conference title since 1934 and had enjoyed four winning seasons in the previous 44 years (including two in the previous 34 years). The program had also gone winless in 27 consecutive games. 1989 1-10-0 1990 5-6-0 1991 7-4-0 1992 5-6-0 1993 9-2-1 Give Coach Mac a chance before even mentioning/thinking/typing that something maybe wrong or not to your liking. Me and my family due to various reasons have invested and turned our full attention to supporting North Texas. I cheer as loud as anyone and support the program in any way I can. Cheer a block, cheer a first down, cheer a dam good punt.. get out there are root for this team and in time if Mac is the RIGHT guy things will be better -
Top notch move by the athletic department. Thank you for all your efforts in letting everyone know as best as possible. Let's get win number 3 at home and get this thing rollin again!

New to the scene but I'm not a fan of this at all. Alumni's family, student's family (the 7 students that actually care to show up to games), season ticket holders who's kids have obligations on Saturday (hence why the 6:00 start times are great!) have the potential to be negetivly impacted by this decision. I'm lucky that this doesn't effect me what so ever but we had an established gametime and we should have stuck to it. My only hope now is that UNT fans get off their backsides and in their seats and aren't gathered around a tv/radio when our game is going on (I saw far to much of this during the FAU game). Get out and support this team. Everyone of us has a responsiblity to help cheer on this team and get the program some respect!
