  1. According to Followill and Joe Schad now the deal isnt done anymore, they pulled the offer http://espn.go.com/c...nes-sources-say
  2. The money is here, theyre just waiting for him to do something and I think it will be next year. Weve been doubling contracts after they produce.
  3. I dont see Mac leaving after one year. He said he was offered plenty of coaching jobs in the past and Smu isnt an upgrade from UNT. If he leaves its going to be a top program, just like Sumlin and A State coach, and Jones did. Well Sumlin is in the works of leaving but hasnt left. But I dont see him leaving, like I said before he'll be here for the long haul just like Patterson and Peterson are at there schools
  4. They have to get a big name guy or one with a lot of experence.. If they could get a Mark Stoops, Gus Malzahn, Brent Venables, or Todd Monken theyll keep most of the recruits but you never know
  5. Theres good DC/OC/HC out there... I think Todd Monken from OSU would be a great hire, Houston Nutt can still coach
  6. http://espn.go.com/c...ils-sources-say Mark Followill also mentioned something on twitter about it, but i didnt know it was finalized Chuck Cooperstein hadd a good tweet "June Jones did at SMU what he was hired to do at Hawaii, take a bad team and make it respectable. ASU is respectable. Can he make them great"
  7. youre right, i thought they were still in the mac
  8. I just happen to notice RV alma mater Southern Miss football schedule and this what our OOC needs to look like La Tech, Southern Louisiana, Marshall, Virginia
  9. Great job!! I think Ryan Downing had a great year, he really broke out this year.. I thought he was gonna make at least 2nd team
  10. Thats true, the bowl games have a major impact in the local economies. Would you risk bringing a team to your city that has the smallest fan base in a weak conference??? How would you feel if you owned a local hotel or bar when a fan base of 4k of a team came to your town, when you could have a over 15k fans from another team.... Who would you pick??? I dont know why its such a big deal, life isnt fair and its a "what have you done for me lately" kind of way... I dont disagree with it either
  11. He'll be in the rotation and maybe a starter but I dont think he'll be the playmaker that Trice will be... Thats my whole point.
  12. I can agree with you on that, I just wanna throw an example for you that I know first hand. Henry Melton 4* recruit out of Grapevine in 2005, one of the best athletes in the State, lazy in HS but naturally gifted. 6'3 275lbs ran a high 4.5 40. Went to UT to play RB, played 2 years at RB then switched to DE is final 2 years. Played a little DE is senior year but only wanted to play RB. His uncle Ray Crockett told him his freshman year, if you switch to DE, ill give you my hummer.. He said no. Most other colleges wanted him to play DE but Mack Brown said he can play RB. First year got 10 TD, 2nd year tired to jump over a DB in the Ohio State game when he could of plowed right though him for the TD. He got benched the remaining of the year bc he was switching to DE (he was also behind Jamal Charles). Jr year, pulled some pretty good stats for his first year at a new position. Sr year, broke out had a great year I dont feel like looking at stats. On his pro day he beat Brian Orakpo on every drill, best pro day at UT. Was drafted in the 5th round in 2009 by the Chicago Bears, didnt play his first year, went on IR because he switched to DT. This is the same guy who was recruited as a RB at UT. Had a good 2nd year, sacked Brett Farve. 3rd Year was the starting DT on the Bears and he weighs 295 lbs and is having a good year. That is a 4* athlete. A player that has great ball instincts, can do anything you tell him to. Some would say hes undersized at DT but when you play in the right system thats what matters. I hope Cam can do something this offseason and show us that he is a 4* that showed in HS. I hope he can be but I dont think so, I just hope Im wrong
  13. You were right, I was wrong about TCU stats
  14. Never said my expertise is greater than Mac's, all I said was that he isnt the 4* transfer that you would expect to get. 4* means that youre one of the best in the state; especially in Texas. Those type of players should have immediate impact on a team with all 3* and under. I dont think and many others dont he'll be an upgrade over Tomlinson, thats going to be a tough lost. These freshman will get better and Im excitied to see how much they improve this offseason. BTW Coach Simmonds is a beast of a coach, he did a great job this year!!
  15. Its a tough, but the Sun Belt needs to do its job to get more bowl games... Our coaches and AD's can only do so much. If there not going to do theres, why should we stay...
  16. Mac is a phenomenal guy on and off the field, he has so much passion for Unt its inspiring... Im a firm believer in the more wins we have the more fans we will have. Hes changed this program more in one year than the past 10 years combined. Once we start winning and showing people that we are the real deal, its gonna be amazing to see. I think that we need to get out of the belt, its been great to us but its time for a change. No one gets interested to see Sunbelt games, thats why we still dont have a rivalry game, imo. I interested to see how we travel on the road compared to other belt teams. I couldnt make it to road games this year bc of work, I would like to hear some input on that I think if we dont win one or two ooc games next year, our attendance will still struggle. I still think playing LSU will still hurt us more that help even if we make it a ball game, even though I dont think it will happen bc theyre going to be better next year than this year. Because at the end of the day a lost by 1 point is still a mark on the right column. The reason why students dont go is because of the students that get accepted here. 80+% of them are a bunch of weirdos. When we have fraternity recruitment, the guys that come by barely played sports and dont care about them. Texas has so much competition for sports, its hard to stay with the big boys... we have what 10 D1 programs. Tcu was able to grow a lot faster than us just because they have a history that involved winning. I think they have 3 Hiesman winners, which is one less bowl games weve been to. Once we start putting the winning seasons together youll see the growth GMG
  17. Dont expect Cam to do much next year, hes the typical 4* transfer that weve recieved in the past... At least in practice he hasnt shown much just talks a lot of sh!t. I want to see how his brother does, bc if hes anything like his brother then they wont be much of an upgrade.
  18. I heard theyre trying to get out of the LSU game just because we did 1 and 1 with houston and 2-1 with Kstate... I really dont think we'll know until the beginning of the summer
  19. I completely agree with you but trust me when I say this.. Hes not the 4* transfers that we gotten in the past. The guy is a Mac type of player, exactly like Lemon, extremely humble and just wants an opportunity to play and be close to home. Every player on the team tells me that he is the real deal... They wouldnt blow smoke. The reason why he transfered was to play and be close to home, he waiting on a scholarship from TCU but UNT offered it to him first. He also received scholarships from all the top SEC programs but he already committed to Mac and wanted to stay true to his word. From the times ive talked to him, hes been extremely polite and humble. Just wait And hes playing DB next year most likely safety, its gonna be nice to have DBs who can catch the ball
  20. http://lockerz.com/s/147079326 I dont know how to load the picture but Im sure someone can do it... Like Ive said Trice will be the best player on the team next year, hes 5'8 and just jumped like 50 inches.. Beast
  21. Hes not a freshman btw, he went to Henderson State, played for a year and then transferred to Unt in fall 2010, I believe
  22. I think the stadium sponsorship replaces the body bag games... Most of them are 600-750, Georgia 950 and were getting 1 mil from Apogee. RV is in it for the long term, I think he'll realize that these games hurt us more than help us. Making 750k to lose is nice, but not being able to go to a bowl game bc of it, hurts us more. Theres a lot of "if's" that play into it but I just hope we get out of all of them in the future, unless we turn into a TCU or Boise State in the next 2-3 years because of Mac .
  23. Whos gonna get the awards at the banquet this weekend PoY - Lance Dunbar Offensive PoY -Lance Dunbar Defensive PoY - Ryan Downing or AK 47, its a toss up wth Orr out the last 3 games O line - Matt Tomlinson D Line - AK Linebacker - Zach Orr Defense backs - Ryan Downing
  24. +1 bc you must be a genius to think of that
  25. I think RV's gonna have to open the check book to keep Chico and Bowen, 160k a year plus bonus is very cheap for these two. These two could easily get 250k at any school and Im interested to see if we can play with the big boys and keep them.
