North Texas - Tony Mitchell - Three More Years
Dr. Seuss replied to Eastwood Eagle's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Honestly, I think this is the dumbest marketing UNT has ever done... You dont see schools telling their top players to stay Durant, Wall, Rose, Irving, Williams, T. Thompson, the list goes on... saying this.. Think about the player, this is a once in a life time opportunity to fill your fantasy/goal in life... Yes it would be great to have him 4 years but if you have an opportunity to be a top pick, leave the program and do it... This is not football, you dont stay 3 or 4 years and then leave, its one/two and done Why put this kind of pressure on a college kid, let him make his own decision... You forget that there is more to life than UNT basketball BTW, yes a college degree is important but when youre career is basketball, thats what you do.. Play basketball. You can always get an education after, basketball wont always be their, but an education will. Good examples is the recent UNT basketball player that graduated this past year, i dont know his name but he was in his 40's.. Coach Weaver, played in the NFL and had a good career became a GA at Florida. Yes a Graduate Assistant isnt the same as an undergrad but he still went back to school -
From his twitter @Dare2Live_3: I want to be remembered as one of the best to come through UNT. Thats the guy with the drive and motivation we need... He wants and will do it big GMG
-
He's been here since fall camps, The coaches have seen what he offers.... What you did in high school sometimes doesn't translate over to the college game. How he told his brother about it, I have no idea I just know what people tell me and what the coaches say

Most interesting comment to me yesterday was from Chico... He said that Feeley is a starter going into spring ball. I heard Cam Fedlt was a overrated but having Johnson and Feeley as starters going into the offseason, speaks extremely highly of them and not so much of Fedlt

North Texas Rivals List With A Most Interesting Fact
Dr. Seuss replied to PlummMeanGreen's topic in Mean Green Football
First off its not just 1/10 of a point because the max is 6.1... 2nd off .1 is .1 less, just like how Kevin Dyson was a foot away from making a touchdown and winning the superbowl... Instead he was short and lost -
Completely agree... People just need to calm down...You dont have to show up or stay for the entire time, its a flippin tailgate. Be thankful that someone is hosting an event for you, instead of finding the negative in every little detail

It is... Theres nothing better for a coach than to coach a coachs son... Theyre usually the smartest ones on the field and great leaders

Great win!!! GMG

Breaking news -- Chris Jones, Jordan Williams ineligible
Dr. Seuss replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Basketball
BTW they have to have a 2.0 not a 1.8 to play... If you dont maintain a 2.0 for 2 semesters you will be kicked out of school for min 1 semester... I know this from athletes and from the fraternity, guys have had 1.0 in there first semester and then would have to have a min. overall 2.0 to stay after one year. -
I just hope that everyone will learn from their mistakes, it happens to everyone but its how you overcome them is what makes them (team) better for the future... When these guys are older I hope that they will be able to mentor younger guys into the program, teach them their mistakes so it doesnt happen again... George was great at it, he was in the library all the time. I would see him and other players studying and thats what matters. Basketball will only be around for 4 year, only 1% will get an opportunity to play in the NBA. I just want them to learn from this and realize that its a gift to play in the NCAA, nothing is handed to them.. you have to earn it, on and off the court
-
Everyone can put the blame on everyone else, but its the Athletes responsibility to maintain his grades... But its a sunk cost and theres nothing we can do about it now Im excited to see how our bench players will now do, especially Franklin, Walton and Norris. Like I said before, Forrest injury wasnt as serious as they were making it.. They just wanted to keep him an extra year. I think Franklin can replace Jordan, but CJ is hard to replace... We were the deepest team in the Belt and now were near the bottom

K, I was wrong yes other stadiums have parking garages, but tech. so does UNT, its just a little further away and its hourly...lol From what I have seen is that most of them still require permits before or they jack up the parking... The main difference between those schools to is that they seat over two and three times as many fans... Texas held over 100k, Kyle field 90k, AT&T 60k... Unt only seats 30k, people are just making this more of a deal than it needs to be
-
Hes not my favorite player, I was just using him as an example but no one seemed to get that... Those honors would go to Roger Franklin
-
Theres 2 +1's for you... Yes people do pay for them there but I will be shocked when UNT fans will pay over $25 for parking.. People were complaining about paying $15 for a freaking ticket and $10 for parking... I do know a lot of fans that think $250 is dirt cheap for college football season tickets but the majority dont
-
Yes you win, but if people are complain about paying $10 for cash parking why would they spend $75 or 60 to park in a parking garage... Next please Raider Park will offer fans the luxury of covered parking that is easily accessible to Jones AT&T Stadium via a pedestrian bridge. Wait they have to walk over a pedestrian bridge.... Thats outrageous, it shouldnt be more than 100 ft away from the stadium... Absolutely ridiculous

I can recap every game for you if you like Houston---Great tailgating experience, best yet Indiana -- Great tailgating experience, 2nd best FAU -- Lacking experience because of the weather, but still had a good tailgate ULM-- Homecoming, wasnt bad but due to the homecoming festivites tailgating was a minimum, less than a hour for most WKU -- Tailgating on the hill was weak because 5 sororities had there date parties/ formals MTSU -- Rain game, no one was at the game or tailgate For everyone that complains about the fraternities and sororities, they are the main groups that are involved in Unt athletics.. Yes some would rather enjoy tailgating more than going into the game but who cares, like you said there is 2 things that impact college football games.. The game and the experience, not everyone will go into the game, thats a fact, deal with it. The hill isnt made for everyone, its made for students... Most of the alumni park there cars in the premium lot or at Fouts and set up there tailgate on the grass. Which I would recommend you do. So what if you cant pay for cash parking for premium parking, thats why you can buy them in advance, or if you cant do that become a MGC member.. Oh wait, that starts at $125, if you cant pay $10 to park why would you donate $125... Parking lot vs Baseball field is a choice that the athetic dept is dealing with... What stadium has a freaking parking garage, thats retarted... How are you going to set up a tailgate in a garage??? Dont say the AAC because barely anyone tailgates for Hockey and Basketball games. Name one football stadium that has parking garages
-
Parking is not that big of a deal, would you rather have a parking lot or a baseball field.... From what I saw, the premium parking was never full, if they build more parking around the stadium its going to be $25 and if youre complaining about paying $10 then youre not going to pay $25. $10 is not expensive for parking, if you dont wanna pay it park on campus or surrounding streets for free.. If youre complaining about walking, grab a beer it makes it go by faster Why would you give out free food, you bring food to tailgating... Thats the whole point of tailgating They have bathrooms, they close them right at game time The hill is mainly for students and they drop everything off the day before.. If you went to the houston game, the hill was the best tailgate..
-
Students are only gonna go to the games if they wanna go.. You can do all these free gifts but it wont make a difference. Yes free tuition sounds good on paper but I highly doubt it would make a huge difference... Winning is only thing that will increase attendance, upgrading conferences wont hurt but if we dont win it will be the same. If you take the weather games out, our attendance wasnt that bad

McCarney hires Skladany as new UNT DC
Dr. Seuss replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
It was probably in the works for a couple of weeks. If we lost him to anyone it would be KU, he's lived in Lawarence his whole life. Hope Coach Skladany has the same drive and passion that Coach Bowen has, it's hard to replace the intangibles -
I think youre looking at it the wrong way, its easy to say that from the inside looking out.. but look at it from the outside looking in.. The first thing people say about Unt is who??, no one nationally knows who we are (-1).. How many football games have you won in the past 5 years, dont even wanna say (-1) Does Unt have any media coverage outside the radio (-1) How many bowl games have yall won (-1) Arnt yall called NTSU not Unt... (-1) How well does Unt travel to other games... i cant answer that one bc ive only been to a couple Yes, Unt has made great strides in making us more marketable but we are not where we need to be... Perception is reality and in reality we are a nobody. In order to be a somebody you have to do everything, you dont get rewarded for doing 50% of the work
-
Really bringing up the death penalty, that was 25 years ago... We all know you hate SMU but you keep on saying the same things over and over. Who cares how they count there attendence, thats not the reason why they are upgrading conferences... THEY WIN FOOTBALL GAMES and more are national recognized than a lot of other schools. The way we will upgrade to a better conference is by winning football games... If we dont win games we wont move.. You dont get a promotion by doing poorly...

Athletics Comments on 2012 Schedule
Dr. Seuss replied to Mean Green Matt's topic in Mean Green Football
Attendance will come with more wins, just because a team travels well doesnt mean its a good schedule... Its all about wins, you need 6 to get in but more the better... With the Belt getting better as we speak, the conference games wont be as easy as they use too. I would rather take a W with 20k in the stands than a L with it sold out. If you dont make it in a bowl game youre moving backwards not forward. Once we start making it into bowl games then we can start talking about scheduling with AQ programs.. We should stick with the Mac, Wac and one FCS team for OOC games -
I just don't know why we can't get on fox sports southwest. They have every other d-1 school in the area on there but us. To me it sounds like a front office thing
