Big fan of all the economic jargon!!
-
I'm just going to toot my own horn because my post about this is spot on, I think.
-
He was at Texas from 98-00..... Yes, I will agree with you that hes won at both levels. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, you just don't get the hype from the fan base that you would get from the other guys being mentioned. My point is that this goes back to RV... He said he wants this and that but then and goes hire someone completely different.

Rumple shots?
-
This is true but lets go back to my business example... He has the Chairman's approval, that means more than the CEO's
-
I was waiting for you to say something..lol I dont want the people to be confused because you're the real estate mogul in Denton.

No one is rewarding RV. We all agree that he should be gone but from what I'm hearing is that he has very little impact. He can come out and say he does and tell other people that he does but the quotes coming out and other insiders don't seem to agree with what he's saying. It all goes back to my Chairman/CEO/COO analogy. The Chairman can't fire the CEO immediately after the CEO fired the COO, especially with the timing involved of getting a new CEO first and then a COO. I can ask my stepdad how this would happen in the real world because he is the COO of a $750 million dollar company.

I can understand where you're coming from because you've been around for a while. I think times are changing, just like how I believe you said that UNT won't fire Mac, we did. Times are changing if you see it or not

He will be forced to resign. Do you really think the VW CEO resigned or was fired.... The news says he resigned...

Which Current Assistants Do You Want Interviewed?
Dr. Seuss replied to HarringtonFishSmeller's topic in Mean Green Football
Okay he got one... Does he want a cookie for doing his job... The reason why we're in this position is because of the previous staff, top to bottom. Thanks for your hard work and I hope you the best. -
I'll bring this back to my business analogy: Smastrek is the Chairman of the Board RV is the CEO Football coach is the COO The Chairman didn't hire the CEO and now the CEO fired the COO. The chairman doesn't seem to thrilled with his current CEO. What happens, Chairman says to the CEO go look for a replacement. Guess what, I'm just letting you do that until I find the right guy, go be busy and stop bothering me. Chairman hires his replacement for COO, its not the same person that the CEO wanted. The CEO resigns, Chairman is now focused on replacing the CEO that will get along with his COO. Couple months later the new CEO is finding a replacement for the CFO ( Benford).

Here's my opinion. These two are on completely different pages. Lets just think about this-- RV said he wants and offensive minded coach with Texas ties. We all know one things for certain, RV lies and he's been doing it for years. Lets think of the exact opposite, he wants a defensive coach with no Texas ties. Who's a name thats been throwing out there matches that description.. Withers. Doesn't Withers seem like a typical RV hire? To me he does and thats why I can't get excited about Withers, nothing against Withers, there's just little excitement around him. Smatresk has been saying the same thing, offensive minded coach with Texas ties. Smatresk hasn't lied to us, that we know of at least. Smatresk seems like a smart guy who learns from his mistakes. Lets look at his last hire Hauck. He was a previous top head FCS coach that made a name for himself. Unfortunately, he failed at UNLV and is now back as a coordinator at SDSU. I don't think Smatresk is going to do that same thing over again and hire Withers. Again, nothing wrong with him, he just doesn't seem to fit the bill for UNT. I really think Smatresk is going after an offensive minded coach with Texas ties, thats why Riley's name has been thrown around. We will see who's right

Fire everyone -
Its because they hear it from the players. Fans think that these guys know everything and they value what they say. In which I do to, they know a hell of a lot more about the X's and O's than me. This doesn't mean that I have to agree with their business philosophy. The AD job is a business job, they don't have to be athletes. The AD is running an athletic program/ business not running/ mastering a 10 yard post route. I've personally talked about why we shouldn't hire Chico to numerous players via tweets/IG/text, all these guys played here. Why wouldn't they want to see their OC get the job? They played with him, in most cases makes them more emotional attached to Chico than me. We disagreed but we all understood that if(when) UNT hires one of the coaches being mention, they will be happy for UNT. They just think the right guy is already in place. A lot of them were actually supurised that these coaches being mentioned were actually interested.

Stop Comparing Old Apples to Young Oranges
Dr. Seuss replied to Mike Jackson's topic in Mean Green Football
2) The DFW has over 6.5 million people while Memphis has 1.3. Again, lets compare apple to apple, you can't compare how many schools are in the DFW to Memphis. 3) Your answer means nothing, look at their roster, they have players from all over. They have players from all over because the talent level in the state isn't what it is in Texas. I don't know where you're going with that. 4) Yes, CUSA was a better conference back in 2012 but they were the worse team in the conference. The three years before Fuente got there they went 5-31. 5) Memphis is in the AAC, not the ACC. The AAC is a G5 school while the ACC is a P5 school. That's why you don't see Memphis playing Clemson, FSU... They play ECU, Houston... I want us to be like Memphis in 4 years, that's what any UNT fan should want. Play a ranked Ole Miss team at home who beat Alabama a couple week before and WIN. I want UNT to be able to recruit against Houston. I would be happy if our HC gets another job, that's what you want. That means you had a great hire, we've never had that type of issue in the past 30 years. Where do you get your information?? Is this all in your head? No one was parinoid that Mac was going to bolt. "It's not realistic to believe than anyone inexperienced will be a success at a program that no else has had success at." You still haven't answered my question. Give me some names that you want to see. All I remember you saying were the 3 guys listed above. "UNT is a uniquely hard job and I don't think you and everyone else clamoring for young hot shots acknowledge that." I understand UNT quite well. There's a reason why UNT is going after the young up-incoming coaches. You're in the minority and don't seem to understand it.- 12 replies

Stop Comparing Old Apples to Young Oranges
Dr. Seuss replied to Mike Jackson's topic in Mean Green Football
"All fine and good but who is Memphis really competing with in the state of Kentucky" Memphis is in Tennessee, not Kentucky... 1. How many professional sport franchises are Memphis competing with for fan attention in their metro area? This has nothing to do with hiring a college head coach. 2. How many FBS programs that play in better conferences than them are within 45 miles of thier campus with better name recognition and history of success than their program? You're talking about Memphis not the DFW.. apple and oranges 3. How many in state FBS level rivals do they have? None- same as us. You can throw Ole Miss, Louisville, Cincy in there. 4. CUSA when Memphis was in it was better conference that it is now. Memphis is a basketball school, not a football school. They weren't good before Fuente got there. The only reason why Memphis moved to the AAC is because of its basketball program 5. The American Conference is better that CUSA AAC and CUSA are both G5 schools. I don't know who's more stubborn, you or Mac.. At least Mac has experience in this field to be stubborn while you don't. Guess what, neither do I but at least I'm realistic. I have no idea I'm even wasting my time talking to you.. You wanted Brady Hoke/ Turner Gill/ Mark Mangino....- 12 replies

I still think theres a lot of confusing going on in the AD and that info isn't being released.
-
If you're the AD who do you hire as HC? Make your case.
Dr. Seuss replied to casual fan's topic in Mean Green Football
I don't see Withers coming here, I see him staying out in the east coast. Not saying that I wouldn't want him. I think he's a long shot and doesnt meet the criteria that they're currently looking for. I see Fritz taking over Houston if Herman leaves.
