  1. Right there with you Tasty. Great post. Things will never change. But let's say Benford was fired tomorrow...Is there that much confidence that his replacement would be any better? I guess you can say whomever it would be couldn't be much worse, but the question is would they really be that much better that they could get this sliding terd to stop leaving skid marks heading into the D1 toilet? I'm not sure that RV is capable of making the right hire. This thing really just needs to move in a whole new direction or it will never be able to change course. You know who would make a good AD? President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho! And the new facilities are great, but we are only impressing ourselves. Four and Five stars aren't knocking down the door to play at Apogee or get in some shoot around time in the new practice facility. So yea. Pretty much F'd.
  2. Well he never had the grades at OU either. Was failing just about every class. Maybe he can get it figured out at Paris.
  3. More to it than that, trust me.
  4. Sooner Freshman guard T.J. Taylor has left the team due to personal reasons http://www.examiner.com/oklahoma-sooners-basketball-in-oklahoma-city/sooner-freshman-guard-t-j-taylor-has-left-the-team-due-to-personal-reasons This kid was a stud at Denison, but he had way too many idiots in his ear telling him he was the man coming out of high school. Thats the route of all his problems. But maybe taking the rest of the year off from OU will help. And talking to the right people that will teach him some respect and get his head on straight. Denison is only an hour NE of Denton so he would be close to his mama. Would love to see him live up to potential, especially as a MG!
  5. I seem to remember seeing a blue UNT helmet in Eric Capper's office. Maybe throw that on as a throw back. Wouldn't make any sense but what the hell
  6. Speaking of having connections at a JUCO, why hasn't Johnny Jones ever looked at Navarro guys? I covered that team during its 2008 and 2009 seasons ( 2008 Eric Tramiel was clearly a force as Paris got past Navarro by one point in the Region 14 tourney) and they have been loaded with solid talent. A lot due to a JJ starter kit of a coach with Johnny Estelle. Look at DeAndre Brown's stats for Louisiana Tech in their loss to ALR tonight. Don't tell me we couldn't use another guy who can light up the scoreboard. He made one of the most clutch shots I have ever seen, hitting a buzzer-beater three from about mid-court to force OT in the 2009 Region tourney at Navarro. But instead of a nearby UNT coming to see him, South Alabama and Louisiana Tech did. Plus Matt Pressey, son of former NBA pro Paul Pressey. Matt's younger brother Phil (4 star) was the real prize. Phil had a ton of offers, decided to head to Mizzou and bring Matt along, but wish we could have thrown our hat in. Chris Roberts a couple years ago as well. He had offers from LTU and USA, ended up at Bradley thou. Just say'n.
  7. A Norm pick is a bad omen, but I don't see UNT losing. They are playing too well under Canales right now. I expect another solid day from Dunbar and Riley. Didn't Norm also pick FAU to beat Texas today?
  8. Can we also limit Knox' time too? I know he was in because of foul trouble, but that guy looked like a shorter and less athletic Shawn Bradley against KU.
  9. It also wouldn't have hurt if we could have hit anything from beyond the arc, 0-12 on threes. But most of those were tough shots.
  10. Guess I dont get that channel. Unless I wanna pay $73 to watch it on the package deal. If anyone in Dallas finds a spot to watch, hit me up.
  11. Really hope this was a "working out the kinks" game for the Mean Green. Vito seemed confident that everything will come around for the MG and I think it will, but I believe we have become accustomed to a larger margin of victory in these exhibition, D-II openers: 19-point win last season, 31 edge in 08-09, 37 in 07-08, 21 06-07 and 23 in 05-06. Obviously every season is different as is the opponents. I just hope that our guys didn't buy into their hype and just expect to roll in this one. So with that said, maybe this game was a good thing and did what exhibitions are meant to do and show what weaknesses need to be addressed early on. Plus I am sure a good humbling session is right down the road when UNT heads to Kansas. Not much you can do to fix the depth issue other than ask guys to step up, fill their roles and produce when they are on the floor. Overall, gotta be happy to see Shorter score 23 and know that White will get back to form. It is easy to over-analyze and worry when you have such high expectations. We all expect another 20-win season and trip to "the dance", but so does Johnny Jones and the players. Hopefully Henderson St. will be a more crisp MG squad and we can put a drumming on Tech Tuesday.
