Just saw a CBS Sports Tournament Preview
golfingomez replied to emmitt01's topic in Mean Green Basketball
yeah, we probably should have beat them at least once.... but they are 26-3 with their worst loss coming against Ole Miss... their resume is kind of hard to deny that they should be an at large -
don't even smear the Lucky Lou's name again...

I guess i just look at this as an equivalent to the NFL, do you think the NFL suffers more injuries because of the same clock rules?
-
the game clock will stop on an incomplete pass until the ball is spotted... they can stop the game clock by getting out of bounds... they can stop the game clock by gaining a first down if there are less than two minutes in the game... they can stop the game clock using timeouts... However, if they can't stop score enough points in the allotted time, I think it's safe to assume they will lose the game

CUSA Standings & Seeding Implications (2/26/2023)
golfingomez replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think the top four teams are all in the running to win the tourney, but no one is talking about MTSU. -
your argument is that players will get more injured with the new rules because they will be trying to run plays faster near the end of the game? And you are saying teams don't try to run plays faster when they are down two scores at the end of games under the current rules?
-
it would be the exact same as it is right now... the clock still stops inside of two minutes.
-
the question is... who stands to benefit the most from the lost green jerseys??
-
Well, this aged like a glass of fine milk...

The play clock isn't changing

UAB going nuts tonight

Looks like Adler is falling into the old-man category of his approach to school colors... or maybe he has been bought by 'big brick' It's sad how you dont even address the actual construction materials used for the building and how there was ZERO consideration for school colors when laying the concrete or picking out brick colors... At least the landscaping crews utilize green as much as possible.
-
I'm confused, how would the plays be more rushed?
-
Oh hell yes! please institute all of these! the college game has gotten longer and longer over the years. in fact, put these in and then put a limit on replay review time as well. that would make me so happy. The rules they are instituting now would help with player safety as well. less plays = less opportunity for injury

American (AAC) Football Schedule Released Tomorrow (2/21)
golfingomez replied to SUMG's topic in Mean Green Football
in good news... our first six games are winnable... i'm not saying we'll go 6-0, but looking at each individual game, they are winnable. After that, it's anyone's guess, but i think everyone on this board would be happy to go 3-3 over the last six games, considering the lack of a bye week. We SHOULD win two games at the minimum, though -

American (AAC) Football Schedule Released Tomorrow (2/21)

this is.... really weird -
i have no data to back up this statement, but, is it just me, or has the offense picked up the pace lately? I feel like since the Rice game, our offense has not decided to run the clock as much. is there a simple way to look up splits on time per possession this year?

I'm not crazy concerned about the heat, EP is going to be much more decent weather wise tomorrow. lows only get to 43

my bad, they moved UNT in the 'work to do category' one of only 6 total mid-majors (including Gonzaga and St. Mary's) to make their article North Texas Mean Green With an eight-point road victory at Louisiana Tech, Grant McCasland's group has now won seven in a row and reached 22-5. North Texas dropped two games to Florida Atlantic but is 12-1 against the rest of Conference USA. For a second consecutive season, Mean Green guard Tylor Perry is lighting up the league with made shots from both sides of the arc and at the line at a listed height of 5-foot-11. UNT is one of 35 active Division I programs that has not faced a major-conference opponent this season. Nevertheless, the Mean Green clock in as a top-50 team in the NET rankings. (updated Feb. 16)

more important than that, i feel like we just need all the top ranked teams to win their conference tourney that'll help keep at large spots available
