CFB Entertainment Index - 2013 Best Teams To Watch

Jeez, I never knew we got Munsoned by Okie State 61-7 in the same season that we beat Tennessee... -
Hey don't be hatin' now... Little Guys do a heckuva lot for the Mean Green. And one of my proudest moments as a fan and alum was having this thing roll up outside when I moved in December.
-
I thought the same thing at first but then remembered that they play bowl games in December and January...

GMG.com Places to eat and drink in Denton -- 2013 version

Ponder Steakhouse is amazing. El Guapos was one of the most underwhelming/disappointing meals I have ever had. Just plain bad. I was equally unimpressed with most of the stuff at Rooster's, especially the Brisket Queso. It just tasted like over-charred burnt ends in cheese, and not in a good way. The Pit Sandwich however, is killer. Recommend. Mazatlan is still my favorite Tex-Mex in town but is in danger of being eclipsed by Villa Grande. Seriously, if you're in town, head to Rayzor Ranch and go to Villa Grande. Super nice people and really good food. And they got some good-ass margaritas. With the Tomato only a hazy, delicious memory, my favorite pizza in town is TJ's. I still call it Texas Jive, and ever since the bar on Fry St closed and moved to only do food, they've stepped up their game. Best italian sausage you can get on a pizza in town. Best kept secret in Denton? The Frito Pie at Sweetwater. When it's cold out and you have a sore throat, Sweetwater Frito Pit and a shot of Bourbon. I miss old Sukho Thai, before they were bought by Sweet Basil. Sweet and Sour chicken the size of your fist, and beef basil. Mmmm. I survived on Sukho Thai 4 or 5 times a week for about a year.- 156 replies

Marching band selections from the old days.

Given the Green Brigade's new location in Apogee, I think that if they started the first strain of "In Storm and Sunshine" at the right time it would literally scare the crap out of a few people on the visiting bench... I'm more of a Royal Welsh Fusiliers and Fairest of the Fair kinda guy. Than again, I'm also more a K.L King guy. -
Well I had to work until about 2 hours before my Friday at 7 pm August 2011. I decorated my mortar board as the Mean Green Battle Flag (green and white Texas flag) and I think I was the only guy who had during my graduation. After the ceremony I went to Raising Cane's in Lewisville with my parents and my girlfriends family. My mom got me a cookie cake from Target with green and white icing. We then went back to my parents hotel room and opened a 1997 bottle of Moët Chandon that my mom stashed away in the fridge in 1998 and always said we would open when I graduated from college. That champagne survived three different refrigerators, Tropical Storm Allison, my high school graduation, the 2005 World Series, Hurricanes Rita and Ike, my sister's graduation from UT, and my dad's retirement. The cork was toast and the champagne inside had gone bad long, long ago but there was a cool feeling of finality from opening it. We poured it into paper hotel bathroom cups and it was awful. But very symbolic. Then I had to work again the next day at 8 am so I went to go to bed. (I started as a freshman in the fall of 2003 and finally graduated in Summer 2011. I screwed up a lot. My two and a half years younger sister graduated from UT in 2010. My graduation was more of a "Well thank goodness that shit is finally over. When do they start sending student loan bills?" kind of affair.)

Great Video of New UNT Super Pit Video Board On!
TheWestie replied to bdan2002's topic in Mean Green Basketball
The main issue that the Pit has as far as lighting is that it's all flood lights. No directional lights on the court, just broad, flat, dim light that points straight down. The center of the court is a whole lot brighter than the ends because there are no lights pointing at the court any further back than right in front of the hoop. Look at the photo above from the graduations. See the straight lines of lights in the rafters? Also, they are nasty fluorescent flood lights that give off weird colors in still photos and on video. That's why Rick Yeatts and the DRC use flashes at games. It's not as simple as just putting in new bulbs or whatever. The lights are in a bad location and so a lighting upgrade is going to be MAJOR project. -

The Super Pit guys said that they didn't have time to get it set up to do that. But that was the plan. More than the scoreboard though if you get a chance to go to any of the graduations there in the next few weeks you will not believe how badass the new sound system sounds. 1,000,000,000,000x better than before. You will be happy. -

Well it never was...... The London Olympic Stadium is a track and field only stadium as it currently sits. The infield is too small for soccer or rugby but there are negotiations going on to convert it into a soccer/rugby stadium which will require them to demolish the track to fit the full-size field in there. Wichita State's Cessna Stadium seats 30,000 (because they don't have a football team anymore and don't have soccer). The amazing Hayward Field at the University of Oregon holds about 10,500 (has been track and field only since 1967!). Arkansas' John McDonnell Field in Fayetteville holds 7,000. In the new CUSA, UNC-Charlotte, FAU, Louisiana Tech, Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky (and us) have dedicated Track and Field stadiums. In the state of Texas, A&M, Lamar, Texas Tech, UTEP, and TCU (and us) have dedicated track stadiums.

There was nothing going into a night game at the Astrodome in July and seeing people carrying in blankets. Now if we really want to talk about some Houston Vs DFW sports rivalry, let's talk about how many speed and ET records have been made at Houston Raceway Park compared to Texas Motorplex..... -
For those who don't know, Argyle doesn't even have a full swim team. Back in high school, she had to train on her own at the Denton ISD natatorium. She's a beast. I got to take her picture a few years ago http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/high-schools/high-schools-headlines/20110218-swimming-pool-shark.ece

Baseball is a sport played indoors at 65 degrees in a stadium with seats that match your uniform. It is enjoyed with a delicious Dome Dog or 7th inning stretch italian ice from the upper deck and a trip to the 9th circle of hell, also known as the Astrodome trough urinals. Sincerely, a forever devoted Astros fan who's pissed about Bud Selig extorting Jim Crane so that the Brewers wouldn't have to go back where they came from, but also still trying to erase the awful, awful, awful memories of Jose Lima and his Casa Ole commercials... -

I saw Randle when Prestonwood beat Liberty in the TAPPS championship this year. He has a LOT of growing up to do... You guys thought Tony acted like a child sometimes when things didn't go his way? For the near future Julius Randle is a tween stuck in a very big man's body.
