  1. Things to think about: Baylor's WRs are typical Big12/SEC receivers: big, built dudes, who power through DBs. We have a lot of very athletic, very acrobatic WRs in Carlos, Tee and Rutherford. (I base this on Carlos' style of play the last two seasons and the Carthage Boys' play their senior season in HS and their debut in this year's spring game). Baylor aired it out and relied on their WRs to get loose because of their strength. The Ponies DBs had a hard time containing them and I think they'll have trouble with our receivers as well, as long as we can get the friggin ball launched their way. Baylor QBs ran well when they had openings and Ponies d-line looked like they'd forgotten to cover the QB at times. Mini Mac has gotten better at reading openings and going for a keeper, but is still too slow to rely on this. But if the Pony D gets caught looking again next week that opens up tons of room for the QB to move and creates passing opportunities from open space. Baylor didn't use a hard-running, punch-you-in-the-face-and-call-yo-momma-a-bad-name RB attack so it remains to be seen what the Pony defense will do about The Jimmy Show and. Green Brigade is gonna be there next weekend. Even if it's polos and chinos we still win that matchup.
  2. 5.5 Million bucks? BOUNCE HOUSES FULL OF NACHOS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!
  3. SMU won't let you bring fanny packs into Ford Stadium. Fanny Packs. Fanny Packs.
  4. We don't. We don't want to bring in Alabama, or current Baylor, or OU. We want name opponents at home that we can beat, like Kentucky, Colorado, Kansas, Duke, Indiana, Vanderbilt, Oregon State. That's the frustration. We should be scheduling schools that play in big conferences who have no ties to Texas or recruiting opportunities with the HS kids here. The prevailing thinking is that given that we are located in he biggest hotbed of HS football talent in the world, BIG10, PAC12, lower SEC schools, ACC schools would all jump at the chance to come play us at Apogee and get a chance to recruit some Texas kids.
  5. THIS. And not just with football. When I was a senior in HS in the early 2000s, this is what 3/4 of my teachers (in suburban Houston) thought about UNT. The other 1/4 had kids who were going here.
  6. I see your "what if" and raise you a "what if" What if blowing out UH 28-0 at Texas Stadium and then beating Tennessee in Knoxville 21-14 in the 1975 season had been enough to get us an SWC invite?
  7. When Tony was playing during Johnny's last season, 3/4 of that media section was full. The UNT Sports Information people, Hank and George and their folks, Sports Information people from the visiting school, visiting radio people, occasional media covering the other team, NBA scouts. It's not just me, Vito and the team photographer. First four rows are usually full, and that's usually just the SIDs and radio. Back two rows are usually empty, except when the sports broadcasting students in Hank's class show up to do their play-by-plays. They can't shove anyone behind the scorer's table, there's no room. Hell, you can barely walk back there as it is. During a TV game it's even worse. It's not like the place looks like this still... If we're gonna spend 5.5 million, can we get a cool center court thing again?
  8. And so where is all this open space on the floor you guys wanna move the media to?
  9. He used to work at the DRC. He secretly likes UNT. He's trying to give em a reason to play with a chip on their shoulder. (its' all a secret plan!)
  10. Although I hope for a conference championship and whatever bowl game that entitles us to, or at least a spot in the Heart of Mean Green Country Bowl once again, if for some reason we end of at the Arizona Bowl... Bobo's Cafe in Tucson y'all! http://www.yelp.com/biz/bobos-restaurant-tucson-3
