  1. He's an absolute beast. I know he's not the highest rated in this class, but he's the guy I'm most excited about because he can light people up so much. That onside kick recovery from his video was absolutely amazing.
  2. OSU Board on Carr OSU board has one guy on there saying he's committed to OSU. He says he can't get into details, but is giving the impression that he knows something. Not sure what that means. I hope he's wrong because Carr seems like a real steal for the Mean Green.
  3. If my brother's experience being recruited for basketball is any indicator at all, this is true.
  4. I wonder if Tony Mitchell had anything to do with this. Isn't he also from Pinkston?
  5. So true. Previously, we were picking up 3* guys who didn't have much interest from the people who really knew what was going on. The difference in this regard has been night and day.
  6. California has been issuing IOUs instead of paychecks to state employees and talking about actually closing the door on huge and essential government services (like prisons and schools). No state is in a good budget situation now but Texas is one of the better ones (they are not only able to pay their employees, they were recently even giving out raises) and California is on the verge of losing their state sovereignty over it. Really no comparison there.
  7. Gotta love a back who has wheels and fights for every yard. Great get for the Mean Green!
  8. I have to admit I wanted Coach Fran too, but now that we see what Coach Mac can do, I couldn't be happier. Even better for our situation than coach Fran would have been.
  9. Plus Benjamin Button.
  10. Swarn had an offer from Iowa. Nice to snatch one away from a solid Big 10 team. I know some people have been worried about the fact that our recruiting started off slowly, but man are we picking up some quality guys. It looks like this class will not only be just fine, it will be fantastic.
  11. If it is a legit 4.6 then, yes. Average NFL combine 40 for strong safeties is 4.57. Roy Williams ran a 4.53 according to his 2002 draft profile, and he was pretty quick for a safety in his early years in the NFL. Safeties don't have to have CB speed because the play 20 yards off the line. That being said, if it's a high school coach with a stopwatch (and a desire to help promote their player), clocking that 40, then it might be a different story... Either way though, he's a beast and is a great pickup for the Mean Green.
  12. Looks like they've got us fourth in the Belt right now. That's a nice step in the right direction. Also, what a big drop off for MTSU. Tough times may be ahead for them.
  13. He is listed as a 4.6 40 but I'm not sure if that's s real 4.6. If it is, he should be plenty fast enough to play safety if that's where they want him. If not, he will be a fast lb. Win or win? Take your pick. This class is getting exciting!
  14. That makes a lot of sense. I wouldn't be surprised to see that either, and with another 20-30 lbs of muscle he would be a total beast of a MLB.
  15. Thanks for the info! Looks like a great athlete. That's a huge bench for a guy his size and not a bad 40 time. Could be an awesome safety.
  16. This is a big get for us. GMG!
  17. I'm willing to preach at him for free
  18. Maybe I'm off my rocker, but Tulsa is a pretty good team and the Big East isn't anything to write home about. Seems to me like Tulsa could be pretty competitive in the Big East. There are an awful lot of good recruits in this Tulsa class and I wouldn't be entirely surprised to see Graham take a few standouts with him.
  19. Do we know if Wright ended up making the trip to Miami this weekend? Last I heard the trip was still up in the air.
  20. Completely agree. I graduated in Dec of '03 and even though the football team was good at the time, school spirit in general is much better now. I can't wait to see what the atmosphere will be like when UNT football reaps the benefit of their new committment to athletics.
  21. The SEC is clearly the strongest conference top to bottom in recent years.
  22. According to his profile, his bench (335) and clean (275) seem a bit low for a 290lb DT... He might need a red shirt year to build his strength, though one spring and summer with a great strength coach can make a big difference.
  23. Great info, thanks OldTimer!
