  1. This is just one small source, but I have a friend who teaches at SMU and based on what she says I don't think this will be a problem. Can't say any more than that.
  2. You're right, should have looked it up. They were terrible by the time I started noticing them and I was going off of memory.
  3. Baylor was terrible when they joined the Big XII, and didn't have anywhere near the upside that UNT has. I'm not saying UNT will get an invite but stranger things have happened and NT has been surprising us all recently: Tony Mitchell and the rest of that ridiculously great BBall recruiting class 2 $20M donations and an 8M two 4* transfers coming in for football next year, on top of a lot of other quality recruits The student body voting to improve a fee hike to support athletics, surprised a lot of people Hiring a top-quality, proven coaching staff top to bottom in Football I can see the future and it's bright green. So bright in fact that I gotta wear shades. Coach Mac too:
  4. Time Warner told me I can't get it unless I also have cable including ESPN. When I go to the website it asks for info from my provider that TW won't give me because I don't have cable tv. So I'll be at the stadium
  5. Lance is getting some great pub coming our way with SI ranking him as the best non-BCS running back, plus articles like this one. We're going to get to play against two of these backs this year. It will be fun to see how LD stacks up. If (when) he has a great game against Alabama, I think we could see a ton of great coverage coming his (and our) way this year. More and more, I'm starting to think my 5-7 prediction might be low. Lots of beatable teams on our schedule when we have a powerhouse running back like Dunbar.
  6. So cool! Though, I wouldn't want to be one of those guys with the cone on their heads... from the video, I mean. Not these guys:
  7. This. Looks like it will be long gone by game time. It's supposed to die out around Saturday.
  8. Not sure yet, I'll either be at Rudy's or at the stadium.
  9. Go Chaz! Maybe my adopted player will see the field a bit this year if he keeps it up
  10. I wish I could too. My second job is as an editor/writer so it drives me nuts more than anyone.
  11. Having a versatile tight end is a huge plus for us. Having something like that at UNT will make our passing game so much stronger. Even great coverage can be beaten with a good catching TE. He will cause our opponents fits if he can catch the ball. Oh, and hey, 100th post
  12. It would be an amazing time to come into the university, but all of these changes are great for everyone with a UNT degree. Every UNT degree is worth more than it was a few years ago and it's only going to get better.
  13. There's no question we would lose recruits, but we would get other ones. If the perception of the Sunbelt raises, then so does our recruiting power. We are all hoping for better competition, which is why most of us would like to see UNT move to the MWC or some other great conference. The Sunbelt getting better also accomplishes that goal.
  14. Vito has a story on his blog today that Leach might end up at FAU. I personally think this would be great for us because it would make the Sunbelt stronger. If WKU stays on the path their recruiting suggests, FIU and Troy stay strong, FAU becomes a contender and UNT does what we all expect, that's a pretty strong league. I'm looking forward to seeing it all play out. Sorry about the typos in the description, I'm working from my phone.
  15. I sure hope Chaz Sampson sees the field too, as he's my adopted player.
  16. Step 3.... ???? Step 4.... Profit.
  17. Great publicity!
  18. I really think this is good for us. The conferences will blow up one of these days and its better for UNT if it's a couple or more years down the road.
  19. There are bound to be some injuries at the beginning due to being more physical. It's worth it, though, and well coached teams adjust.
  20. That game where we trounced Baylor was big for me. I know Baylor isn't one of the big boys, but they are a BCS team and beating them so badly in addition to going undefeated in conference gave us some respect. I still look back on that as a great time for UNT, and it was my best experience at Fouts.
  21. Why would Ark State be in the East and the Alabama schools be in the west?
  22. I hate to say it, but I do think that this is a bit too early for us. The one thing I hope for is that our people can sell the future of NT to a conference like MWC or CUSA. That may open up something for us because if you look you can plainly see that UNT is headed toward great things. Also our much improved academics make a big difference. The question is whether or not that's enough. The school may surprise us, though. They've been doing that a lot lately. That being said, the Belt is getting better. FIU and Troy are solid programs with bright futures (two or three years ago there was only one team at that level) and ULM, Ark State, and even WKU are headed quickly in the right direction. If WKU can develop the talent they've been getting they've got plenty to be a good team in the future. I'm also confident UNT will be better than all of them in a few years. If it all works out like it could (which is not guaranteed, I know), the Belt could be leaving the MAC in the dust and nipping at CUSA's heels soon. It's not terrible if UNT stays in the Belt for a while. The biggest concern I see is if the super conferences will create a glass ceiling for everyone else. But, in my opinion, perform well enough on the field and you can crash through any glass ceiling. This is America.
  23. BE is a step down from Big XII in football, but its a step up for basketball and academics, and that might be attractive to KU. Big XII without KU is a good but not fantastic basketball conference, but BE plus KU would be basketball's SEC if it isn't that already.
  24. I agree with this for the most part, but Zach Orr said that it has slowed from his perspective and was careful to let us know he meant that it was because he is able to see the field better and make quicker decisions, not because the pace was actually slower at all. This wasn't meant by him as w negative at all.
