Committed to Tulane per Vito.

+1 I don't think you make decisions based on what someone is owed. You just put the best team out there you can. But you're right that Jordan absolutely belongs in the starting lineup. His athleticism is pretty incredible and he has to play to work out the freshman kinks. He's already really good and will be a special player for us (starting this year). Roger provides a great spark as 6th man. He's one of my favorite players, but I like him coming off the bench.

Dave Campbells Updated Commitment Listing

Fastest man in the world? And at 290, I think some qbs might explode when he hits them. -
How would they compare to my mercury sable?

That's so great. My mom taught at IU when I was a kid and their union (largest in nation) did wonders for their campus life. It will do a lot for the university to have something like that, and it will be a selling point for recruits.

I guess I was thinking Trice would play corner. Not sure why I thought that. Anyone know?

Sorry Roadruner, didn't see you already said pretty much what I just said.

1-3-1 can be good against the three if you trap on the wings, but in my experience (high school only) 2-3 isn't great against the three. Though if you're long and fast you can do ok against the three in just about any defensive scheme. I.e. Syracuse.

I'm sure the coaches (and pretty much all of you guys) know better than I do what we need, but here's what I'd like to see (I'm assuming we have 3 spots left): Scotty Young Leo Thomas Deion Sanders Jr. My Reasoning: It seems to me like DB is our biggest concern next year (I'm not as concerned about DL as many on the board, mostly because I think our coaches are especially good and getting a lot out of our DL). Scotty Young and Deon Sanders would bring us a lot of pub/attendance and both seem to be great players, potential immediate impact players (but lots of love to DT, who is becoming a darn good QB). Leo Thomas could be a first year starter. With Leo Thomas, Swarn, Warner, and Sanders playing together that's a lot of upside for our DBs looking forward. LB is already stacked. We could have a scary defense in years to come. QB isn't a huge area of need (though would like more depth), but Scotty Young seems to me to be the best player available at any position that we have a reasonable shot at getting and a stud QB makes a huge difference. I love reading all of your thoughts, so feel free to critique what I've written.

Sagarin lists Jackson State as having the toughest schedule in the nation so far. Not sure their record tells us much about them as a team.

Alonzo says he is going to try out for the nfl.....

He has the build. That dude is impressive in person. I was surprised when I heard he only weighs 235. -
If Coach Mac gets a great offer, that likely means he will be leaving a strong program behind at UNT. I don't want to see him go but will certainly be thankful for the good work he will have done here to earn that hypothetical offer, and maybe we will be strong enough to keep on going in the right direction when/if that happens. Worrying about holding in to a great coach is a nice problem to have, huh?

I'm not really a Big 12 fan, but where did the idea that the Big 12-2 was down this year come from? Sagarin has them as the #1 conference (not even close) and every other power ranking I have seen have them as 2 or 1. I agree that Bama is the second best team but the B12 has a ton of good teams and lots if parity.

I just don't get how people can be disappointed in where this program is headed.

Weird Ideas to Help UNT Football in the Long-Term

Lots of great ideas here. I especially like the Pop Warner jersey idea, and hosting HS football games. -
CBS Sports Has Arkansas State @ #28
pastorgrant replied to MeanGreen61's topic in Mean Green Football
Illinois is a good team. And look at what Missouri did to Texas. Good teams have bad games and that was the first game of the season. All the rankings I'm seeing have ASU not far off from this CBS poll. I think we see them getting votes for top 25 before all is said and done, could even crack it if they win out including their bowl game. Would be really good for the belt to see that happen. -
A good TE wreaks havoc on defensive schemes. Most D-backs can't cover someone Power's size, which means LBs have to cover them (and even they are giving up size), which means they aren't rushing the QB or mirroring the RB. Look at what Jason Whitten has done for the Cowboys on 3rd and long over the years. Power has the potential to drive our 3rd down conversion percentage way up.

6-6 is absolutely awesome, even if we don't go bowling.

I don't think we expect too much. Great win; everyone's excited about that. But it is time to start expecting local media coverage to begin coming our way. We deserve at least a mention.

I don't know. That kid looks like he is only about 12. Maybe he just looks that way because he is sitting next to Tony Mitchell, but not sure he is ready for D1 ball.

How is Roger Franklin doing?

NT 27 Troy 21 The conventional wisdom is that we have sucked on the road so far. Some truth to that, but we lost to 5 really good teams (yes FIU was really good at the beginning of the year), Tulsa should be ranked. ASU and Tulsa we didn't have a legitimate QB ready to play college ball running the team. ULL was a bad loss to a good team. I'm just not sure we have enough to go on to say our problem is road play rather than having a much tougher road schedule than home schedule. We will see this weekend, but assuming DT is healthy, I think we win. We are a better team than Troy as far as I can tell.
