I'm just hoping that it doesn't affect X's decision.

CUSA Write up on the 2013 season plus 2014 preview
pastorgrant posted a topic in Mean Green Football
http://www.conferenceusa.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/011414aab.html NORTH TEXAS MEAN GREEN The Mean Green closed out a memorable season with a 36-14 win over UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl on New Year's Day. The victory gave North Texas a final record of 9-4, its highest win total since 2002. Senior QB Derek Thompson completed 21-of-30 passes for 256 yards and two touchdowns to earn the game's Most Valuable Player award. The Mean Green led the nation in blocked punts (5) and blocked kicks (8) this season. North Texas had 39 quarterback sacks this year, which is more than any Mean Green team since 2002. The 39 sacks is tied for second on the school's single-season records list. North Texas led C-USA in scoring defense (17.8) and palced second in total defense (348.7 yards per game)-

Tee Goree named Max Preps 2nd Team All American
pastorgrant replied to NT03's topic in Mean Green Football
Wow! That's a big stinkin deal. Congrats Tee! -
Wish I could go to the game at IU, I used to live in Bloomington and have a lot of friends I would like to go see there. Plus it would be nostalgic for me, I used to go to all their home football games (don't worry, I wouldn't have any trouble deciding who to root for). GMG!

MGB: Could Canales be in play at UAB?
pastorgrant replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
The idea of a HCIW is a hard sell for Cowboys fans. -
Harry, I wish I could +1 your posts.

Watch part one of the UTSA episode, inside look into the conditioning program, skip part 2 (the game)

The show got better as the season went on, IMO

I got to thinking a bit more about this, and I have to say that there wasn't a lot that happened this year that wouldn't have surprised me before the season. We were better across the board than I expected, and in several areas, a lot better. OL, Safety, Linebacker, and Running Back were the only areas of the team that I expected to be as good as they were, and I'm a perennial Mean Green optimist. Good stuff this year. Good stuff.

UNT vs. UT 2014 UT Fans ready for STRONG showing agin UNT
pastorgrant replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
The Mean Green has definitely got me believing. I don't know if we win in Austin, but we might. And I'm not thinking, "I hate these kinds of games" anymore. They're each a great opportunity to step into the light as a program.- 54 replies

Off-season questions series No. 1 — Who takes over at QB?
pastorgrant replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I think I remember seeing Little Mac run the offense for a series against Georgia and looking really good. Did that happen or am I making things up? I am on the DW bandwagon, but unless I'm having phantom memories, I think McNulty is a solid QB.- 22 replies

I was wondering what Fallout 3 had to do with the stadium

It's so hard to look into the future and see anything with any clarity, so I can't say anything as far as when or if it will happen. But here's what I do know: This town will support UNT if we win AND people get out and spread the word. The work that folks on this board did to get downtown Dallas to light up green for our bowl was awesome. If we can get into the top 25 and stay there for most of a year, coupled with the work that Emmitt mentioned, tickets will be hard to get at Apogee. If we keep that up for a few years, it will be time to expand.

We had top 25 votes in 2002 as well.

UTSA Board: "UNT thinks they can beat the Sith Empire"
pastorgrant replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
It's a tough hill to climb, but we've got a puncher's chance, and I'll take it. Would be so great for the program to score a KO in Austin. Plus, mixed metaphors are awesome.- 40 replies

I'm curious if anyone can come up with a cool green and white helmet for when we aren't in our black unis. One which has SOW on it.
-
I usually pull for UH too. Definitely my 2nd or 3rd favorite Texas team. Wish we could play every year, too bad they left CUSA.
-
We should probably just ignore it, but this team, especially this group of seniors, will always have a special place in my heart, so it's a lot tougher than it would be in some other year. I don't like people coming onto our board and poo-pooing what this team accomplished this year after we just won a bowl game on New Year's Day. Smack talk before a game is something different entirely, IMO. That being said, Houston is a great program, as I've said, and they had a solid team this year. I'm just happy with the season we had.

I will give it to you that we lost a couple of games we shouldn't have (Tulane and UTSA). We just didn't show up to play and we were all frustrated with those games because we underperformed. But a season is more than a couple of games and UNT's wins are much better. Ohio and Georgia struggled later in the season due to injuries, but they were both good teams early, and there's no shame in losing on the road to them. UH might have done the same, don't know. You would be pretty evenly matched with Ohio, as we were. I would have loved to have Houston' s last several years, but I wouldn't trade this year, and I don't have to weigh that over for any length of time. Give me a bowl championship and 4 solid wins any day, even with two frustrating weeks.

I'm really looking forward to this game. We have some natural in-state rivalries building with them, UTSA, and Rice, and it's so much fun!
